This was EXACTLY the tutorial I was looking for. Also, I so appreciated the way you launched right in to the topic-no nonessential chitchat. Hooray! I wish all tutorials were like this. Thanks.
Thanks for showing several ways to use foil. Each one can be applied in different craft projects. The foil makes the project so pretty and professional!
Thank you, thank you, thank you! I was in no mood to buy an expensive machine to create foiled effects. Thank you for sharing these amazing alternatives.
This video just opened up a WHOLE new world of ideas in my brain! Personally, I thank you! My husband on the other hand...may not. Lol I sense a shopping trip in my future...!!
Hi! This is the first video of yours that I've watched and I was very impressed with the variety of techniques and tips that you offered. The foil is new to me and I look forward to giving it a try now that I have some great ideas to go about it. You certainly received a thumbs up from me and look forward to more videos from you. Thanks!
Oh my gosh, these are all amazing tips! Just getting started with foils and there is not a lot of information on how to use them, so thank you! Question: can the 2 way glue pen be used on fabric? Would LOOOOOOVEE to do some handwritten foiled napkins...
+Marlene Sauer Do NOT burnish while still hot - per Tim Holtz (it will flatten your image). Pat the foil down when it's first applied, then as it cools, rub it with your finger(s). Rub in circles and as it cools it will loosen and come off.
I picked up a few tubes of the iCraft foils on clearance at a big box store, along with a pack of the shaped rub-on adhesive. I tried it out over acrylic paint in my art journal just to see what it would do, and no matter how much I burnished, some of the adhesive was still exposed and it stuck the pages together. I had written off the foils and adhesive design sheets, but after watching this video I'm going to try them again, this time perhaps on a porous surface rather than over paint. TFS!
Great! Also- warm up the adhesive a bit with a hair dryer to make it even more sticky! Just wait until the adhesive has cooled before you rip off the foil.
What is the name of the things you used that you cut and peeled and applied to the paper? It was a flower that left the sticky side up on your paper?? Where can this be purchased?
Love these ideas. I have run into a problem with foil, though. I used to send cards I made to deployed soldiers and once in a while I would get a "return to sender." When I opened up my own greeting cards that had been returned to me, I discovered that the foil accents I had put on the card front (using a glue pen) made the card front stick to the inside of the envelope...and sometimes would partially rip some of the envelope off onto the card. I started to think that maybe my cards were not arriving in the nice condition which I intended! Anyone else run into similar problems/have solutions? Thanks again, Jenny!
Since the glue pen stays sticky, it's absolutely possible that if even a little bit is left unfoiled, it would leave a sticky spot and it would stick to the envelope. I'd suggest giving your project a light dusting of powder or cornstarch to make sure there is not sticky bits. (If you weren't sending it to a soldier, I'd suggest ultra-fine glitter.) Just a thought!
Hello, thank you so much for this video. This looks like a lot of fun. I'm having a hard time finding where to purchase this "mylar backed transfer foil sheets". Can you offer any suggestions?
I'm not familiar with that product- the description says that it's a repositionable product and a temporary hold. There is probably not enough grab to use with foils. I like that Beacon product since it has such a great aggressive "grab."
CraftTestDummies you've never heard of it? Its the glue ppl use on back of rubber stamps to get them to stick over n over again. I store mine using that method vs cling mount.works great and is super tacky n strong, I bet it'd work...Thanks though! :-)
Gavi S I've heard of it, just never tested it though. The word "temporary" makes me suspect of it's compatablity with foils, though- you need a very aggressive "grab" to get the foil to release from the mylar.
CraftTestDummies ok, thanks! I guess I'll experiment!;) that's the fun of it anyways right lol... also where do u buy the foil the cheapest? I'm finding it hard to find online, maybe bc I'm not using the right words? Thanks!
i was thinking about small lettering on a purse. I'm making a purse and thought it would be a good idea to put my own name on it, like the professionals lol. i just want something simple and not to crazy in price but will last. do you think it will work or do you have any other ideas?
so...I'm beginning to believe that the kind of foil you used here is not the same as the cricut adhesive foil...haven't been able to get an answer to that question yet. can you tell me?
Ah, yes. Well, since I'm filming in my home on a table with casters, one has to make do. Maybe someday I'll make enough on my RUclips videos to afford a proper table. LOL!
I didn't know a laser printer can be use to apply foil to paper/cardstock, not laminator needed. Here is a link on how to: cedarcanyontextiles.com/outrageous-idea-transfer-foil-to-paper-with-a-laser-printer/

I was browsing tutorials for these foil sheets I got with the Zig pen and I finally came upon your video. You explained it so well. Thanks!
Thanks for showing several ways to use foil. Each one can be applied in different craft projects. The foil makes the project so pretty and professional!
Thank you for sharing its brilliant when you get someone who explains simply.
This was a great lil class. I have a few of these products and wasn't sure how to use them.....and now I do. TFS ! You do amazing comparisons.
Thank you. It IS like a little class, right?
Thank you, thank you, thank you! I was in no mood to buy an expensive machine to create foiled effects. Thank you for sharing these amazing alternatives.
Thanks for the video, I learn something everyday I go on youtube. And I learned something more about foiling.
This video just opened up a WHOLE new world of ideas in my brain! Personally, I thank you! My husband on the other hand...may not. Lol I sense a shopping trip in my future...!!

Love that holographic foil! I didn't know about those double sided shaped adhesives, those leaves look amazing.
Mee too
I have been wanting to use some foil I have so this was super useful!
Now I know how to use deco foil, thanks for sharing
Thank you, thank you! Great ideas, specially the one with the glue pen! I will definitely try that :)

"This is a marshmallow" LOL! Anyway, thank you very much, now I know how to do foil if that ever becomes a pressing need. :D

Great tips!
You are really informative thank you.

Madmelvelous It also sounds like the adhesive stickers didn't adhere properly.
What kind/brand of foil and where can I buy it? You link to foil on your website is invalid. Thanks!

Thanks! Cornstarch is a great tip. I'll give it a whirl.
Micheals had the deco foil on clearance I just bought a whole bunch. What a coincidence
I just bought some foil at the dollar store,i hope it works.in the party supplys.
Amazing
Hello, thank you so much for this video. This looks like a lot of fun. I'm having a hard time finding where to purchase this "mylar backed transfer foil sheets". Can you offer any suggestions?
I've included some shopping links in the blog post- just click on the link in the description. Thanks!
Ok thank you. Sorry I'm new to RUclips and still learning how to get around.
EXCELLENT !!!
Hi tim holtz uses a stick embossing powder to do this also as you did in #5 My question is can I use any embossing powder?
I assume aleens tack it over n over would also work? Great video!

Do you have a video on adhereing gold leaf foil onto cards? Thank you
Will it work with double sided foam tape
It is best to use a anti-static pad on your card so you don't get foil where you don't want it. :)
is there a website for the 3 foil glues u showd ?
Does that foil work with a heat press!?
Aleenes tack over and over supposedly works too...but in 2024 u cant find those stickers.
Instead of using a glue to stamp with do you think "heat and stick" embossing powders would do the trick?
Erin- I did use Heat and Stick embossing powders. That was method #5!
I'm so sorry! I thought I backed up enough when my kids were going to each other and missed the end. Re watched it and thanks for the information!
I wonder if it would stick to versamark ink? Anyone tried that?
Kimberly- it will not. Versamark ink is a pigment-less stamping medium. While it feels "sticky" it's not an adhesive.
thank you! Looking forward to trying the foil. Love your videos.
will Prima Shine rub on foil work too?
i like the glue pen, will this work on leather? not the fake stuff the real stuff.
+Eva G It will work to add foil on leather- but I'd be worried the foil would rub off if it's an item that will be worn regularly.
i was thinking about small lettering on a purse. I'm making a purse and thought it would be a good idea to put my own name on it, like the professionals lol. i just want something simple and not to crazy in price but will last. do you think it will work or do you have any other ideas?

Esther Hernandez - No Esther this is not like the adhesive foil, it is mylar backed. HTH
Can i do it with double sided transparent tape?
Absolutely!!
Can you make your own foil paper?
You can add foil leaf to paper.... but not sure what you mean.
hhm i need this pen!
What is the paper name
these ideas surprised me as a manufacturer of ALUFOIL, FUNNY!
What is the name paper sheet madam
PS I meant Tim Holtzs Sticky embossing powder
Heidi M You CAN use a sticky embossing powder. Regular embossing powder will not work.
where can i get these foils...cause i live in India and we don't get these here
You will have to search online to find them in your area.
CraftTestDummies
thank you for the advice.....:-)
Just a little note, the wiggly table you are filming on is distracting. I love your site and videos. Thanks for all the tips.
Ah, yes. Well, since I'm filming in my home on a table with casters, one has to make do. Maybe someday I'll make enough on my RUclips videos to afford a proper table. LOL!
Exlent
