I use this technique all the time both with traditional and digital stamps. I discovered this technique last year and came up with a video, but had no idea other crafters had shared tutorials before! Love that! The more the merrier and that also means more inspiration for the community! Crafty Hugs.
Better late than never! I have watched hundreds of videos on foiling, but continue to have less than great results! I *knew there must be another way! THANK YOU SO MUCH for this SIMPLE and EFFECTIVE way to foil! And, it’s something that even I can do! Thanks so much for sharing this great video!!!
Thank you so much for this video!!! I've been looking for ideas to use my foil. I do not have the Minc machine, I do not have a laser printer. I do have a laminator but haven't been 100% happy with my results. I WILL GIVE THIS A BIG EFFORT AND LET YOU KNOW HOW IT WORKS. But thanks again for the idea. Keep your fingers crossed!! 👍
Oh wow! This technique will give extra options to all me stamps, how wonderful. Genius idea, I'd not seen or heard of this before. I can finally use the rolls of foil I've had laying around for years. Thank you so much for sharing this. Only just found your channel so just going to have a good look at your other videos. Take care.
1. Don't forget, ScraPerfect sells both Holographic and Solid color Packs of Designer Transfer Foils, and each pack has eight different colors or patterns. 2. Transfer foil will stick to any stray embossing powder grains; therefore, you don't want these sticking to your paper. We recommend wiping the paper with the Perfect Crafting Pouch before stamping to eliminate static cling which prevents stray embossing powder grains from sticking to the paper.
Thanks. HAVE FUN. It is very cool. [PS you can do the same think with a laminator and the only advantage is you don't have to make sure the embossing is hot enough to press on the foil b/c the laminator does it for you. If you have a heat gun, though, and it works well for you, no reason to buy another tool. And a cheap one is just fine: Goodwill often has them for under $10. Amazon and Walmart both offer a Scotch brand laminator for $22.]
Nice technique! I recently got a Go Press and Foil machine but only have two foiling dies with it, so have been looking at various other ways I can foil things also.
Really good thank you for sharing, it looks much easier than the go foil machine which needs to go through the die cutter, and we all know the problems with pressure. thank you again, I am one happy stamper now.
Great Idea. I just bought a bunch of colors to try, and I have a inexpensive laminator, but this is a wonderful idea with stamps! Thank you. I subscribed and THUMBS UP!
So cool!! I love this effect but I didn't have a lamenator or a laser jet printer and don't have the money to invest in those items either...so thank you for this technique!!
Acrylic heavy body gel paint works like the transfer gel. You can use a sponge & apply it to your stamp then stamp. For both just apply the foil onto the gel while wet let dry overnight then remove the foil. You even get dimension this way.
so the gel ;aint doesn't;t speed, smoosh, blur when it's stamped and foil is placed on it? OH! Do you lightly lay it on the Gellpaint without pressing it at all and when it dries , the foil is stuck to the gel and pulls off the acetate sheet? Makes sense...
Hi I loved what you did with the foiling you made it sound to easy, could you use this technique on flower stamps? I will be trying out your technic ASAP Tracy x
Tracy Evans I am sure it doesn’t matter what image you use. It matters that it stamps and embosses exactly how/where you want the foil to transfer since it’s the hot melted plastic grains of the embossing powder to which the foil adheres.
You just got a new subscriber!!! You and I think the same, but I never would have thought of this! You're a genius!! I wish I had seen this before I wasted money on glue stamp pads and all the other stuff I wasted trying to make It work! Lol thank you
Thanks for sharing this. I am wondering if instead of reheating the embossed part and then quickly laying the foil, would it work better by just heating the foil while on top of the embossed image?
I wouldn't think so because I wouldn't want to melt the mylar layer that the transfer foil is attached to, but perhaps it is possible if the heat were hot enough to melt the embossing powder but not hot enough to melt the mylar.
I just googled it and foil is listed for one use. IF you already own it, then it's a good use. BUT I'm all about using what you already have and not needing to buy something special. And this works just fantastically for all of us who already own just about any embossing powder and pigment ink--color and brand makes no difference!
well unfourtanly, (sp) I think my embossing powder is old, or something, because it didn't work. I'm just looking for an easy way to use this foil. It seems like you have to go to a lot of trouble to use this stuff. If your making more than one card or whatever, isn't it kind of time consuming?
Foiling is easy and gorgeous--once you understand the process and the material and I am sorry you are having a frustrating time. I don't think old embossing powder would matter at it's really just ground up plastic that melts under heat. (And some of my embossing powder is over 20 years old.) Were you able to emboss with the heat gun without the foil in step 1? If so, just be sure to apply the foil as soon as you can see it's shiny (and therefore HOT and "liquid-y plastic") before you apply the foil. *** You can even reheat time and again as I did at about the 5 minute mark in the video. The embossing powder MUST be very hot for the foil to stick to it. Also, be SURE you have put the correct side of the TRANSFER FOIL against the embossing powder. SHINY COLORED side of foil UP, duller side underneath.(PS It must be transfer foil, not just any kind of foil.) FINALLY, if you want a different method, try stamping with a pressure-sensitive adhesive instead. The glue dries tacky and then it accepts the foil. ScraPerfect's Best Glue Ever™ is such an adhesive! Some people use a special embossing powder that dries tacky so it acts like adhesive, but I hate buying products that have ONLY one intended usage. HOPE THIS HELPS!!! To learn all about FOILING, check out this link which has answers and explanations to FAQs about Transfer foils.. scraperfect.com/product/transfer-foils/
just wanted to thank you for taking the time to explain all of these things to me, I will check and make sure I have the right kind of foil, etc, and maby be a little more patient. thanks again.
ANY TIME!!! And if you EVER have any questions about foiling or other craft related stuff, you can go to our website www.ScraPerfect.com and click contact us. I love to trouble shoot and try to help!! (We do also offer foils for sale as well as the glue, but it's NOT why I am suggesting you head there:)
@@karicoleman3548 Yes and sort of. You definitely can glue onto the stamp. You don't want to apply too much. Just enough to cover the image but not enough to collect into the depressions. As for cleaning? When wet, the glue comes off with soap and water. HOWEVER, the glue dries fast AND you'll be applying only a little bit so it will dry even faster. To clean the stamps, we recommend ScraPerfect's BEST CLEANER EVER. It's the people-safe, Earth-friendly solvent that removes adhesive residue, paint, most inks, pitch, chewing gum, ETC! You can use it as a hand cleaner as it's safe for skin (unless you have an allergy to Rape seed oil. Canola is made from rep seed oil). You can use to to clean tools like scissors, work surfaces, brushes, remove labels, and even the old sticky from sticky electronic die cut mats. (Re-stick them with Best Glue Ever...). Hope that answers your question without sounding like a commercial!
@@scraperfect hi, thank you very much for replying. Oh, I just meant to ensure the foil sticks properly as opposed to taking the foil off, then reheating the powder before putting the foil back on again to get missed spots. Thank you, sweetheart; really good video/technique!👍🏼☺️

Using embossing powder to foil isn't a cheap way to foil in fact if you use embossing powder then why foil at all?
Because you get a look you can’t get with embossing powder.
il faut de la poudre d embossage qui colle , pas la classique; ranger en a une tres bien
All my embossing powders work--no special brands:)
