    Funny people say it's not the V8 and it has to be blah blah. You're still faster than 75% of the other vehicles out there. Remember most are Rav 4s, CRVs, Santa Fe's..lol It's not a dragster that you're buying it for. The daily driver with the great looks and some fun.

    Excellent review Mike. For me the good news is my 2016 SXT BT STP is virtually identical. For everyone else, it was already perfect. The car is awesome.. The reaction of people to it is AMAZING. Driving it is pure heaven city or rural . 320 HP is more than most original 1970 V8 muscle cars had. With advances in suspension, braking, trans there is honestly no need for the V8 except for engine sound. 95% of people cant tell the difference and frankly the SXT does not tip off cops to speed and you can hear your tunes at 90-100 MPH... enjoy !

    • @SIDVENOM
      @SIDVENOM 3 года назад +1

      @@jimimack7298 I did that and the 392 had to put gas already and insurance, payments, maintenance where high vs the V6. The V6 has the same looks inside and outside enough power for me also has way more options than bone stock 392. It was a no brainer which route I chose. Also if I ever upgrade down the road I’ll skip the RT, Scatpack and just get a Hellcat.

    2016 sales numbers for the Dodge Challenger ( They sell a lot of SXT's, folks...lol)
    Total units sold--
    Hellcat........................4,025
    SRT 392......................2,196
    R/T Scat Pack............4,934
    Don't know about just the R/T model, but I'm guessing similar numbers....so that's about 45-48,000 V6's......somebody likes 'em, that's for sure.

    • @MikesCarInfo
      @MikesCarInfo  6 лет назад +20

      kcotte59 I guess it depends on your personal definition of muscle car. To me it is more of the style of the cars from the 1960's and 1970's and the Challenger is the closest to that style imo. Of course the rumble of a 6.4l v8 completes that style much better than a v6.

      MikesCarInfo agreed☝

    • @blackice7408
      @blackice7408 6 лет назад +3

      kcotte59 i feel that about 300 hp is needed to get the car movin because of the extra weight and 100-220 more hp is needed just to make the chargers and challengers move like a light car. Thats why dodge chargers and challengers generally have more hp than the mustangs and cameros because of the extra weight. Yes the engines are huge and have more power than the latters, but that extra power is needed to get the car movin and thats exactly why i like the chargers and challengers

    I'm seriously considering a SXT plus model. Its possible to load a SXT with options and still pay far less than you would for a V8 with those same options or even fewer. I never thought I would think twice about a V6 challenger but dodge sells more V6s then V8s. Thats why there isn't a V8 AWD and who honestly needs a V8? The SXT gives plenty of power to get around town and thats what most buyers will do with it. Challengers have a kick ass and take name appearance that no other car has. The menacing road presence is polarizing. I love it. Oh the uconnect system is fantastic.

      "2017 dodge challenger gt awd vs ford mustang and camaro mash up". Search for that on youtube or copy paste. Skip to 3:30. The brand manager for Dodge says they sell more V6 challengers and chargers than V8s.

      4WD has drives to the front, a V8 may not fit the parts. The 4WD already rides higher then 2WD SXT Ive owned the HEMI and the V6. A V6 Pentastar with the 8 spd trns matches all Euros (Jag, BMW, Audi few people know the Challenger sits on a Mercedes SEL 500 Chassis) Back to the 4WD.. Its not sold as a high-performance car. Its a nice looking JEEP for people who live in the snow belt and dont want a truck.

    Sxt is nice but it's power is just too dull for me. I tried an r/t and the power was great and it didn't feel scary fast it felt fun cool showoff fast

      I'm Italian and for me 305 hp are fine. in Italy if you exceed 250 hp (185kw) you have to pay € 20 for every kw over 185. This shit is called "superbollo" and if I have to take this car I should spend about € 1100 a year when you normally pay 200-300 (kw x 2 €). This is Italy

      I have a 2016 SXT and it is a great car. 305hp plenty of power! great gas mileage 27-28mpg average and solid reliability (100k miles so far).
      The R/T isn't much stronger than the SXT in daily driving.
      If I wanted more hp I would skip the R/T and get at least the Scat Pack but it would be mostly for the sound.

    A dealership close to me is selling 2018 challenger with 44k miles for 22k is it worth it? It does say on the car fax that it’s was damaged a few times but it got rebuilt

    You get a v6 they say you should’ve waited and saved up for the v8. You grab an R/T now it’s “not even a scatpack”. Lmao you grab a 392 now you wasted money and should’ve saved more to purchase a Hell cat smh 🤦🏽‍♂️

    Mannnnnnnnn I was leaning more towards the octane red (blacktop package) but now I'm sort of leaning towards the white knuckle (blacktop package) - I think it looks really good without the racing stripes.. however I've noticed that the blacktop package comes with racing stripes. So I'm guessing there is a option to not include the racing stripes??

    PROS from and Owner :
    Fun car looks gorgeous, pretty damn fast, 0-60 in 5.9 seconds (personal best could prob do 5 flat in right circumstances) lots of space, pretty cheap price tag for what you get, averaging 25 MPG in one hour work commute (30 miles one way)
    CONS:
    I dont like the interface (thats personal preference but there isnt a lot of options on the screen), youll want a faster car after driving this, youll want to jump up to a hellcat. Not to great in the snow.
    Thats really it for the CONS, not to many and a lot of them were personal preference.

    I have to ask. As long as you can unlock the door by just having the key nearby. Can anyone unlock the door the same way? Meaning if you're stopped at a light and someone comes to the door. Could they unlock and open the door while you are sitting in the car?

      No. the car can sense when the key is inside or outside the vehicle.

      That’s awesome Sharlene.
      I’m a potential buyer of one of these.
      I’m really interested in the reliability of the pentastar 3.6 engine. My wife has a 2017 grand caravan gt with the same engine and we haven’t had any issues yet @ 39000 miles.
      But I’m really interested in hearing other people’s experiences with this engine.
      I’m sure you have better things to do with your time but, could you please update this thread if you ever have any issues with your Challenger?
