I traded in my Chrysler 300 for a 2018 SXT last week. Same engine, but for some reason the challenger seems MUCH faster. I've been waiting 13 years to own one, I finally do and I couldn't be happier!
Folks, don't let ANYONE down talk the V6. Most these kinds people are ignorant or trolls with ego's. The engine puts out same if not more power than many V8's from the muscle cars era of the 1970's which are still sought after by enthusiasts. No matter what trim ya get, there's always one gobber that will say "You shoulda got...(insert higher trim here).
Finally, a well said and much needed point on the tiring and unrelenting myriad of needless comments from the V8 drivers. They do nothing but "one up" all the V6 owners, as if drag racing is the only goal that matters.
My mothers car (2010 dodge Avenger with 111788mi) just started to give her problems. So she went to the local dealer to check out a new car. I was expecting a Charger or a 300!, she will only buy a v6, so the Dart is out. I get a phone call a little bit after she left. "Tom, there is a car on the lot that is within the budget, call the insurance and find out the difference for a Charger, or the Challenger!" Next thing I know she's calling back and she told me that she is getting the Challenger SXT. Did I tell you that my mother is 72, and 5'2". The dealer actually talked her out of the Hemi, and the only Hellcat on the lot was used so she didn't want that!!! "It's the little old lady from Pasadena!" Or in my mother's case it the Little Old lady from Philadelphia!!! SXT with black out package!!!!!
SXT Plus isn't AWD. That would be the GT. SXT Plus does add a lot of goodies like you say, and offers more option packages. A fully outfitted SXT Plus is a LOT of car for not very much $.
Hazwaste63 you're absolutely right. Thanks for pointing that out. And I agree, the Challenger and Charger both get you A TON of car for far less money than comparably outfitted luxury brands.
The plus package has nothing to do with the drivetrain. It's all interior options, and other features. Also, the SXT is the only model that offers AWD. Trust me I just ordered one.
Bought a 2017 SXT and couldn’t be happier. LOve driving it. It’s a monster. You should see people scrambling to get out of the way when they see me coming in their rear view.
I have a 2018, octane red sxt plus. Love it. Moves plenty fast, great ride. I've had 70's challengers and chargers of varying quality and hp. 340s and 440s. I'm a mopar guy and this car is something to be proud of. Sure, if I was 30 years younger, I'd get the scat pack. But this us plenty for today's roads
I just bought a '18 Challenger sxt a couple of weeks ago and I'm very happy with it. It's comfortable and has plenty of room. The V6 has more power than I thought and the ride is smooth. The car just has a nice feel to it. Gas mileage has been better than expected also. A great car for a base model.
Love my SXT Plus, it really is a lot of fun to drive. I have the 8.4" touchscreen and it does have Apple CarPlay, it's like having an iPad in your dashboard.
Tom's Test Kitchen the SXT Plus is sweet - you get so many additional options! Agreed about Apple CarPlay. And once you get used to it it's tough to be without it!
Love my 2016 SXT, which I got a heck of a deal on at year end closeout: $2,000 manufacturer rebate, $3,500 dealer discount, plus 0% APR for 60 mos. Yowsa!! Only extra I've got is aftermarket window tint. I get a grin on my face every time I get behind the wheel. The V6 is more than potent enough to make for spirited driving in this very comfortable, great looking ride. For those of you who don't know, the chassis on the Challenger is based on a Mercedes E class (MB owned Chrysler back when the Challenger was designed), so it has that big car, comfy ride on the highway, swallows the miles effortlessly, and feels just as stable cruising at 100 mph as it does at 65. One thing I noticed right away was that the mpg computer always overstates actual mpg. Real world calculation (miles covered divided by gals consumed) has always been less than what the computer says. The good news is that my mpg has continued to improve the more miles I put on. After nearly 18,000 mi, my last two tank fulls gave me 30.7 and 30.1 mpg. I've had zero problems with my Challenger. Total maintenance so far = one oil/filter change. Consumer Reports most recent reliability ratings show a huge jump of 10 spots up the ranking for Chrysler/Dodge reliability, and I can testify to that.
Actually sold one of my cars and combined with savings managed to come up with a nice down payment on a new 2023 Challenger 1320! Fantastic car! Only 386 miles on it as I type this. he's a keeper!
RJTheWrestlingGuy that’s what it was for me when I drove the R/T after the SXT. Yes the R/T (5.7L) is a little faster but the raw V8 sound is 1,000x better!
Kudos for a very good, honest review of this car. I travel extensively and rent Camaros and Mustangs all the time. However this is my first time in a Challenget because...they are "always the first cars to go" as the Enterprise guys tell me. Although included in the Pony segment thise who review and compare this car to the other Ponys just dont get it. They decry the Dodge for being big and heavy because it yeilds a few points in the performance arena. What they dont ever seem to report is the romminess of the interior and the ride quality of this V6 version. I got a 6.4 0-60 set to sport with TC off...what more could one ask really. Yes the Camaro V6 is faster but it is also cramped and it seems Chevy has forgone the retro look for the half breed transformer look which is very offputting for guys like me who owned many of the original muscle back in the day. The Mustang holds true to its heritage even betted than the Camaro but for the common guy the discontinued V6 version is the better choice...let the tuners have the ecoboost as it is a cumbersome affiar getting it to perform well. I like this Challenger exactly for what most reviewers decry...it is big, it rides nice, it os absolutely quick, and it looks bad ass from every angle.
It is considered a muscle car the v8 isn't that much faster than the v6 adding a supercharger to the v6 youd whoop some v8s and possibly the Hellcat and Demon with the right modifications
@@sexysendysg I rented a brand new V6 Challenger and I had to pull over and pop the hood because I was convinced it had to be V8......what a great deal for such a great looking car....and 30mpg
sexysendysg you’re stretching way to far, yes you’d beat an RT and a STOCK scat pack but hellcat and demon with an sxt challenger never not even when supercharged, you’d blow up the car before you’d compete with those lol
Great video, and I snagged a great deal on a brand new 2019 SXT for just 21K, so I am a happy camper. The power is fine, and thank God Apple CarPlay is now available on all the models as standard. I grew up with the muscle cars of the 60s and early 70s, and the 0 to 60 time and quarter mile times would have been better than most of the classics of that day, so I have no complaints. I got a chuckle about your rant on the foot operated parking brake. That is the way it was back in the day, and they kind of just carried it forward as a nostalgia thing on this muscle car.
The 2015 thru 2023 Challengers were supposed to look sinilar to the 1971 Challenger. This is evident by the new front grill. The Challenger SXT with it's Pentastar V/6 gets 305 horsepower but can go from 0-60 in about 6.2 seconds with a top speed of 135. Not bad considering this is a 4,000 pound car.
My buddy bought a 2018 sxt plus about 4 months ago at a great deal. Good things: hella comfortable and surprisingly quick. That 8speed tranny really did this car some good for an almost 3900 lb car. The car reads 6.1 as best 0-60. I did not expect that. Bad thing: too smooth. I know its not a bad thing but it lacks thats sporty feel. I drove it in sport manual mode and while it moved quick it didnt throw me to the back of my seat like my boosted stang does when i drive it in manual mode. If you want to “feel” the shifts, this car doesnt give it (in auto obviously). I agree with most here that it gives you a feel of a sedan with 2 doors. Not sport nor muscle. But overall great car.
I test drove a brand new 2018 Dodge Challenger Sxt ( Metallic Gray) at one of my Local Dealer's. What a sweet ride. I told them I wanted a White one. I talked them down $2000 and they delivered it a couple days later, and i purchased it. I love it ! Bigger display screen, and it comes with rear camera, also nicer stock rims. Thinking about tinting the windows...
I'm trying to trade my current car in for one right now, I really want a challenger because its a awesome car and its what I wanted to get originally but couldn't afford it at the time.
@@Jt_473 Shop on the last day of the month in the evening, if the dealer is a few cars short of making their monthly numbers you should be able to get a car for about $5,000 below MSRP, sometimes more. Dont shop alone or when you're tired or hungry, you make bad decisions. Just make them a offer, dont let them keep you there for hours, make them an offer and tell them you're leaving in a hour, and go to another dealer. If your credit is good you have buying power. Where do you live? If you live in So Cal, you can hire me for a small fee and I can save you thousands of dollars, I LOVE negotiating car deals!! I've bought and sold over 75 cars so far in my life although not all new.
The Challenger is awesome. My dream is to have an old Mopar or Chevy (60s-70s) but right now I can’t do that so I have an 11 RT instead and everywhere I go, you get the old timers saying how they love it and it reminds them of what they had back in the day. The classic look and classic feel of the interior of the modern Challengers definitely help fulfill my need for a classic muscle car. The 6 speed manual is the cherry on top of it too!!
Thanks so much for this video! I drove the 2019 V6 challenger and its amazing! The Base model is freaking great. It drives so good, fell in love with. Will be getting the 2018 soon only because it's a little cheaper. Lol. Thanks again..
Just so you know SXT plus doesn't offer AWD. SXT plus's are only rwd. They offer a sportier package with 20" wheels and leather seats etc. just with the V6 instead of a V8. Only the GT comes in awd. I personally have an SXT + and I love it
Trent Reiss you’re right. Back when I made this video Dodge didn’t even have the 2018 Challenger on its website yet and I knew AWD was only offered with the V6 (and I knew it wasn’t in the base SXT) but for some reason forgot about the GT trim. I agree the SXT Plus is really sweet; you get a lot of upgrades in that trim and definitely worth the money over the base SXT in my opinion.
Good review. I wish Dodge would offer the Challenger V6 with a standard transmission. I realize it’s all marketing & supply & demand, but man, it’s fun to shift.
in 2015 or 2016 dodge changed a few things, going from the 1970 dodge challenger inspiration car to the 1971. the rear tail lights and dash reflect the change.
I Had a v6 - 11’ chally for 9 years. Loved every day I had it. Going to what I drive now which is almost 500 hp is obviously a huge jump. But I’ll always have a special place for my chally. Who cares about hp. It’s about your connection with the vehicle. .
Just rented another in SFO a few weeks ago. Damned fine car really. Granted I am 56 years old and not looking to race anyone...but I did a 0-60 (with the onboard timer) at 6 seconds flat which isn't slow. I also like big...My DD is a 2014 Silverado crew cab...the Challenger has great interior width which is something the boy racer crowd doesn't care for.
I have a 2019 SXT that looks just like the one you drove. It’s awsome, fast, comfortable. It has that 1970s old school muscle car look and feel. It is sneaky fast though. I washed mine then went to blow the water off because black shows spots. Wasn’t looking at the speedo and got nailed with going 37 over by the local police on the interstate. If you get caught up in the comfort and just cruising at 1200 RPM you can sneak up to over a hundred and not feel it because it’s a big wide car. Oh mine has Car Play in it standard. So be careful if you get one. Keep your eye on the speedo.
nothing wrong with a V8 or V6. they have their own personalities but are a family nonetheless. I got a V6 to build and look good in the garage and an R1 for track days. I do want something gnarly though like a harley or boulevard.
Love my sxt , 2017 “ i got 22 inches black rims and lifted suspension from dealership .. and destoyer grey color .. which is more than satisfied for me , what else i could expect in base model , good to see this video and know lot of things which i doesn’t know ... good job
I rented a GT, it won’t set the world on fire but it was fun to drive, felt more like 330 hp to me, I could live with it don’t need a hell cat I got real Hot rod🤣
Maybe a recent update/upgrade, but my 2018 SXT with the standard 7'' screen does come with Apple CarPlay. Also the trunk is substantially bigger than any other family sedan I've owned or driven. I think it's not only big for a muscle car, it's also bigger than the average trunk. I fully agree on the comfort and the quality on the ride.
FYI I got the 2018 with what appears to be the same uconnect and it DOES have CarPlay. However they did not inform me of this at the dealership. I just happened to notice once I plugged my phone into one of the USB ports in the console and noticed the phone icon changed to CarPlay. Not sure if maybe they upgraded it but figured I would add that
I think the park brake location is a throw back to the "day". What I appreciate about my Challenger is that it's not a sports car, but a better more modern muscle car than the original era cars. But I have to admit Rob that I am a kid from the 60's and remember the original cars and what I wanted in '17 was a throw back to my childhood dream cars. The younger generation(s) is definitely into the hand brake or electronic park brake. But somehow these just don't seem American to me.... Thanks for the review.
I just purchased a 2014 Challenger with the 3.6. I'm getting solid 6.1 to a 6.25 0-60 times. Great MPG and it's quick. Can always do some small mods to make it a little quicker
I'd love for it to be more powerful! The Mustang V6 has less hp (300) but more torque (280). Camaro wins in the V6 category with 335hp and 284lb-ft. If they would make another V6 for the Challenger instead of reusing the same 3.6L that is in almost every Jeep, Chrysler, and Dodge, that would be awesome.
@Muhammad Baig uh...no it would not. The 2012 Camaro V6 was good for 6.5 from 0-60. The new car is almost 300lbs lighter and about 30hp more which gets it in the 5 range.
The V6 isn't a muscle car and doesn't pretend to be. 300ish hp is plenty for a daily driver of it's size and weight. If you wan to squeeze HP out of the base model then mod it yourself but dodge should leave it alone to keep price down and gm up which is what the masses want in a base model.
strtngfrsh how about they make the base model 305hp, but the sxt plus around 335 to 345. Keep it 30 hp difference between the base model then sxt plus, and the Hemi models.
The most positive thing about the SXT is that the engine is proven and will provide longevity. Decent gas mileage as well. Performance is a different story. You'll lose out head to head VS most vehicles. Hell, my Escape does the same 0 to 60 time. And owning a muscle type car, people will want to bait you into racing stoplight to stoplight. That said, if you want the great looks, good mileage and no frills, go for it. Personally, I'd save up the difference and get a base R/T. Just my opinion.
I have this model and the only car that has beat me off the line was a v8 Camero but he didnt have the balls to keep pace. Only every day driver car that pushed past me was the Honda Type R. That thing is ridiculous power
Hey, man. Any updates? How has the SXT been treating you? It is reliable/dependable? I'm contemplating between an a 2022 Challenger SXT or 2022 Camry TRD. Both great looking cars. I'm more into the retro-muscle look, but I'm much more about reliability.
Ultra reliable bro!!!! If you look for a used one they will have high miles, like between 140k to 170k, that says a lot, because if you are lucky to get a low miles challenger, it will last you a lot!. I do oil change myself, full syntetic every 3k miles, i dont wait untill 5k miles, plus its cheap doing it by yourself, COSTCO mobil one full syntetic oil cost $27, comes with 6q, wich is exactly what this engine needs, and like $7 filter, almost $35 oil change if you doit yourself, ultra cheap for a v6. And save gas on the freeway, 30mpg its true, with a/c on all the time! This car its worthy and head turner, buy it!, You wont regret it! I have my 2013 rallye red line challenger, and i loooove it, i always get compliments😁, well, not me, the car 😔
The reason why there is no AWD with a V8 is sales. Dodge told a reviewer on youtube that they sell more V6s than V8s and its no wonder. The V8s cost too damn much.
Makes sense. I would absolutely pay for the V8 with AWD but most people are either perfectly happy with the V6 (300+hp is more than most cars on the road), or don't live in northern climates and can drive the V8 RWD year round.
Yeah 305hp is more than enough to get around town and thats what most people would use it for. The only reason to get a V8 is for bragging rights and when V8s are pushing 40,000 thats way too much to pay for a chance to intimidate other drivers. Its overkill. Now if someone plans to track or otherwise be involved in races then sure go for a V8.
305 HP would feel even better if Dodge would put the Challenger on a “diet ” I love Mopars but they’re at a weight disadvantage when compared with their competitors , way too heavy!
@@paisa013 have something haul 100lbs and another haul 500.... Ya the one with 100 is goin WAY faster and you'll definitely feel it lmao. With that said I'm all about the challenger, i personally own a v6 Camaro RS but my sister will be getting an SXT pretty soon and I'm so excited to see how it compares to the Camaro.
RarPcGaming that's awesome. There aren't too many changes from 2017 to 2018 unless you're getting the demon but it's a fun straight-line car regardless of which model you choose.
Inati Phillips comparing the two on Dodge's website, I see the major difference is the fact that the standard uconnect screen in the 2017 model is the small Uconnect 5.0, compared to the much nicer and larger "Uconnect 4 with 7 inch screen" which is standard in the 2018 model. Both still have the 8.4" uconnect option as an upgrade which has navigation. The SXT I reviewed had the new 7 inch standard screen.
I've noticed that the 2018's come with a rear spoiler, which enhances the appearance. I'm buying a 2018. I'm not sure if I'm going 2 purchase the V6 or hemi. I'm driving a 2018 dodge challenger hemi, rental. It's fun 2 drive, but, a gas guzzler. I going to test drive the sxt this weekend. Btw, I have a 2014 dodge charger se.
Thanks for Posting, Ive Learned a lot Because Im in the Market Now to buy a Challenger Which is my First Choice and The Charger is My Second Choice but the Only one I can afford is the Ones with the V6 Engine and Everybody says its Trash to stay away from it Which had me Totally Freaked out BUT now Im Convinced its a good engine. As I told my Brother I don't plan to Do a Daily Drag Race in the Car..
kaharold I think the 3.6L V6 is a good engine. It's in so many FCA (Fiat Chrysler Automotive) vehicles. It might be worth trying to find something used with a V8, but I don't think you can go wrong with the V6 as a daily driver.
MrXtraconservative everyone knows the dukes of hazards it was my first favorite car on tv growing up. You definitely shouldn’t have a problem with that💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯 just throw hate signs😭😭😭😭😭😭
I’m 17 with a red 2020dodge challenger sxt with a stripe and the 8inch screen with like black wheels and its not the best on gas but man is it fun to cruise with like mustangs and other cars.
I'm seeing used 2019 Challengers with the V6 for less than $20,000 that have less than 30K miles. Be a nice option for someone on a budget instead of a boring Asian economy car.
Happy with my 2016 SXT. A white car that was bland looking until I had some red R/T style stripes done. Get compliments on the car all the time. Inexpensive car in general that gets decent gas mileage and performs acceptably (to me) for daily driving. Lower insurance cost too. Of course a Scatpack or Hellcat would be fun to own but a bit of overkill for the daily driver I think.
Just for some perspective here are some other cars I have owned throughout the years. 1972 Challenger 318 V8 150 HP 1978 Tran Am 400 V8 180 HP 1987 Camaro 305 V8 165 HP 2016 Challenger 3.6 V6 305 HP

Reuben Perez the screen in the SXT Plus is the full 8.4” uconnect is it not? And I made a mistake when I made this regarding the AWD-it’s only available on the GT. At the time when I made this Dodge did not have the 2018 Challenger on their website yet and there was no GT trim for 2017 that I know of so I thought AWD was going to be offered on the SXT Plus.
great review. I agree with all of it, especially the terrible visibility. Crappy side mirrors with humps of the wheel wells, huge hood with low seat cant see out thefront, and small side windows. Visibility is actually the #1 reason I didnt by this and got a charger...
I owned an SXT for 5 years and love it, but I had to upgrade to a 2018 R/T. Not even close to being the same ride. When you step on the pedal of an R/T it feels amazing. The sound and the power feel incredible. My SXT felt like a normal car. Be warned if you start with the SXT like I did eventually you will find yourself wanting to upgrade. As far as gas mileage my R/T does great, it converts to 4 cylinders when you’re cruising. I honestly can’t tell much of a difference in MPG between the two cars. I’m spending about the same weekly on both. And this is my daily car!
I just got a 2018 challenger sxt and I just want to know if it’s okay to keep it in sports mode? I actually got the same exact car as in this video. I don’t know much about cars so I’m kinda nervous to keep it in sports mode I just don’t want it to have problems
You think that car has low viability, try a 2006 up Eclipse. I've had both and much prefer the Challenger. Just keep that passenger seat tilted up enough to be able to see through the quarter window.
Rob, a little constructive criticism. The blue masking tape is a loser. Couldn’t you spend five minutes on your computer and print out a Dodge logo or your RUclips channel name to cover the license plates? If you plan on building your subscriber base then you should think about getting a few professionally made license plate covers. Promote, promote, promote.Your delivery is good and your enthusiasm shines through. Pricing info would have kicked it up a notch. I strongly disagree with your assessment of the truck space, it matches or exceeds most mid-sized to large sedans. Also, you made no mention of the fold down rear seats. Would have been nice to hear about more of the features in the car. What type of headlights? Does it come with remote start? You get the idea. Best of luck with your future videos
Creepy Magoo thanks for the advice. I actually have someone making me license plate covers with my logo on them. Just don't have them yet. I am actually surprised you're the first to say something about the tape in 3 months of being a RUclipsr! Also There's so much I could go into in these videos but I try to keep them around 10 minutes. Those are great points though. I post MSRP on certain videos but with this 2018 the pricing was not on Dodge's website at the time (it still might not be), although it probably doesn't differ much from the 2017. Thanks again!
come on now dodge I know people like the label and the look of this car, but a turbocharged 2.0 4 cyc in an accord will both outpace and outhandle this car. Granted it won’t sound as nice, but for a muscle car you’d expect straight line performance, so I’ll let it slide on the handling part, since it’s a muscle car and not a sports car, but it should be a little quicker.
My buddy owns a '16 GT 5.0, and has an old fox body built up for autox. He doesn't understand how my car ('16 SXT+, B5 blue) pulls so hard for a V6. I think half of how good this car feels is the ZF gearbox and compliant rear suspension. It really does put you back in the seat, it feels like so much more than it is. Doesn't hurt that I can still take Mustang GTs of a generation older light to light. At 32 MPG, usable rear seats & trunk, and visibility. "THAT THANG GOT A HEMI IN IT?" No, sir, but she'll still take your 2012 SS's lunch money.
I got the exact challenger sxt in black like on your video black and added a spoiler.. tho its a 2016 but same interior classic look.. driving it is great.. yeah its not the upgraded version but hey still got it where it counts.. drove the car from LA to vegas and its a comfortible car got there only 40 bucks in gas..
I gotten my 18' mango orange sxt last weekend and tinted all my windows 15% and 50% on the front this weekend I love the car but iam not getting 30mpg on the highway or interstate I stay n the mid 20s mpg
Your gas mileage can be lower if your into the gas more, or driving in sport mode, or if you live in a hilly area. Also you may need to check your air pressure in the tires.
I traded in my Chrysler 300 for a 2018 SXT last week. Same engine, but for some reason the challenger seems MUCH faster. I've been waiting 13 years to own one, I finally do and I couldn't be happier!
Your cheating yourself.dont ez your mind
Should have kept the 300.... dont have to worry about it getting stolen like the challenger
I recently got one as well after wanting one for years. Couldn't be happier. Congrats on your purchase

Especially as a daily driver it's great! And the SXT Plus is such an upgrade over the regular SXT--definitely worth the money in my opinion.
If all you care about is 0-60...get something else. But for the rest of us, it's an awesome ride. Plenty of pep for a daily driver...
I just bought a '18 Challenger sxt a couple of weeks ago and I'm very happy with it. It's comfortable and has plenty of room. The V6 has more power than I thought and the ride is smooth. The car just has a nice feel to it. Gas mileage has been better than expected also. A great car for a base model.
congrats! I had fun with it; still fun to drive and I easily achieved over 30mpg which was nice as well
Love my SXT Plus, it really is a lot of fun to drive.
Consumer Reports most recent reliability ratings show a huge jump of 10 spots up the ranking for Chrysler/Dodge reliability, and I can testify to that.
ronald k that's awesome - it's a great car and sounds like you got a sweet deal
Heck yeah. I love my 2018 Octane Red SXT Plus with Blacktop package, leather, etc. She really gets up and goes for a V6.
I know you love it. I loved mine, but V8 is night and day. I get roughly the same milage.
Nice car, thinking I'll seriously look into an SXT rather than spend a lot more for a V8 version.
Don’t waste your money the v6 is great v8 is 10 g more expensive for the basic is not worth it
Actually sold one of my cars and combined with savings managed to come up with a nice down payment on a new 2023 Challenger 1320! Fantastic car! Only 386 miles on it as I type this. he's a keeper!
Visibility is bad in the Challenger, however the Camaro has the visibility of a tank
adjust your fuckin mirrors.
@@deathrager2404 I have them adjusted. Doesn’t change the fact visibility in these type of cars are less than what they used to be.
That's valid
@@felixvikes28 if I had a Camaro it would have a turret installed on the roof
Just got a 2019 GT. Love it! 305 is great.
I almost bought this but went with the RT I just love that V8 sound
RJTheWrestlingGuy that’s what it was for me when I drove the R/T after the SXT. Yes the R/T (5.7L) is a little faster but the raw V8 sound is 1,000x better!
RT uses too much gas
@@AntLive29 Lol yeah... V 6 is quiet good on gas as said on the video... 35 miles a gallon i believe....
@@AntLive29 No it doesn't. My Charger RT gets 25 highway. Damn, the v6 sounds terrible.

Why isn't this V6 considered a Muscle Car when it was more "real" net Horsepower than most 60s and 70s V8 Muscle Cars....makes no sense to me!!!
@@sexysendysg what do you reccemend?
well in the 60s you could call black people colored. things change
sexysendysg you’re stretching way to far, yes you’d beat an RT and a STOCK scat pack but hellcat and demon with an sxt challenger never not even when supercharged, you’d blow up the car before you’d compete with those lol
ChuckVT I just got mine 7 days ago a brand new 2019 for 26k total with 5k off I couldn’t be happier
@@kamikazeofficial2934 Congrats!! Such fun cars!
Its not strong enough yo throw you really
My 2015 Camaro does 0 to 60 in 5 flat 325hpw base model v6 all day. I like the challenger alot but they have to make it a bit quicker.
RarPcGaming congrats! I'm sure it looks great in white. I loved driving it. And I would tint the windows too! 👍
I'm trying to trade my current car in for one right now, I really want a challenger because its a awesome car and its what I wanted to get originally but couldn't afford it at the time.

Shop on the last day of the month in the evening, if the dealer is a few cars short of making their monthly numbers you should be able to get a car for about $5,000 below MSRP, sometimes more.
I've bought and sold over 75 cars so far in my life although not all new.
love this car , I have 2 kids and a works for me , great every day car , and looks amazing , 2015 sxt v6 black, best car I ever had
Gaston Miorin that's awesome. I loved driving it and it's a GREAT looking car. Black would be my color of choice as well.
Have a 2016 sxt charger myself absolutely love it more than enough power, and the se is actually the base model
Been having mines for a year and I'm still learning things about it
It is what it is and I like it! Just picked up this same car in "White Knuckle" a couple of weeks ago.
I just wished the RT was an everyday car.. That v8 is so fun, but man does it kill your pockets
Mama There Go That Man i daily my R/T I spend about $10 of Gas a day
Same here. I drive my RT daily and spend about 50.00 per week
I drive a Scat Pack daily and spend about $40 a week on gas. Helps to enroll in some kind of gas rewards program too. Lol.
Gas you mean?

Thanks so much for this video! I drove the 2019 V6 challenger and its amazing! The Base model is freaking great. It drives so good, fell in love with. Will be getting the 2018 soon only because it's a little cheaper. Lol. Thanks again..
This is a good looking car, the number#1 reason that I was this car alone!!!
@@TheTestDrive I agree! 👍
I own this exact car, black out edition, and it does have both apple and android play. The hookup is inside the glove box with the USB connectors.
It’s not a sports car. It’s a muscle car.
Good review. I wish Dodge would offer the Challenger V6 with a standard transmission. I realize it’s all marketing & supply & demand, but man, it’s fun to shift.
Same here. I refuse to buy this car with auto transmission. Way more fun with manual!
in 2015 or 2016 dodge changed a few things, going from the 1970 dodge challenger inspiration car to the 1971. the rear tail lights and dash reflect the change.
Exactly, we're old enough to remember when 300 HP was a lot...
Have a 2016 dodge charger sxt rwd myself and its plenty powerful to me plus it's good on gas
nothing wrong with a V8 or V6. they have their own personalities but are a family nonetheless. I got a V6 to build and look good in the garage and an R1 for track days. I do want something gnarly though like a harley or boulevard.
Absolutely love my 2019 sxt put the borla atak exhaust and cold air intake on it wow! Good review and the girls love it 😉
Love my sxt , 2017 “ i got 22 inches black rims and lifted suspension from dealership .. and destoyer grey color .. which is more than satisfied for me , what else i could expect in base model , good to see this video and know lot of things which i doesn’t know ... good job
Manny Singh thanks - would love to see this with the 22s, I'm sure it looks awesome 👍
The same on my sxt I got a couple weeks ago has apple car play.... I love my shit... I’ve added a few mods so far
FYI I got the 2018 with what appears to be the same uconnect and it DOES have CarPlay. However they did not inform me of this at the dealership. I just happened to notice once I plugged my phone into one of the USB ports in the console and noticed the phone icon changed to CarPlay. Not sure if maybe they upgraded it but figured I would add that
I drive a 2017 Camaro which I love but this challenger is gorgeous and classic! My boyfriend might be getting one 😬
I might pick up one used then upgrade to a scat pack and maybe later a hellcat
Good review. Better than most. Hate I traded mine now
thanks! and you can always get another one! it's absolutely daily driveable
Ehhhh honestly been 305hp since 2011 maybe it is time for an upgrade to compete with other v6 muscle
The Test Drive thats why ima just swap engines in a few years
What it needs is the (currently nonexistant) Mopar equivalent to the Ford 3.5 Twin Turbo.
Not true. The old 2011 models were actually 250hp. They gave a 55hp gain my g
@Muhammad Baig uh...no it would not. The 2012 Camaro V6 was good for 6.5 from 0-60. The new car is almost 300lbs lighter and about 30hp more which gets it in the 5 range.
With Chevy able to squeeze 335 hp out their 3.6 you would think FCA could squeeze 20 or 30 more out of theirs
@@strtngfrsh lol. The hp you just referenced used to be considered a muscle cars but to each their own.
The Chevy V6 may be 335hp but it is still only 284 ft-lb pds torque. That is only 16 ft-pds more than the Challenger V6. Torque is more important.
@@craig71686 thank you. People never talk about torque only hp that’s the only number they see
The most positive thing about the SXT is that the engine is proven and will provide longevity.
R u serious how da he'll does escape run same time
I have this model and the only car that has beat me off the line was a v8 Camero but he didnt have the balls to keep pace. Only every day driver car that pushed past me was the Honda Type R. That thing is ridiculous power

They cost more because they are worth it
305 HP would feel even better if Dodge would put the Challenger on a “diet ” I love Mopars but they’re at a weight disadvantage when compared with their competitors , way too heavy!
Only 400 pounds more than the mustang FYI not that much different
@@paisa013 have something haul 100lbs and another haul 500.... Ya the one with 100 is goin WAY faster and you'll definitely feel it lmao. I was going to get a 2017, but I changed my mind. Gonna try to get a 2018 if the price is right.
RarPcGaming that's awesome. There aren't too many changes from 2017 to 2018 unless you're getting the demon but it's a fun straight-line car regardless of which model you choose.
Probably a v6 Sxt Coupe. Anything more would be a waste of money for me.
The Test Drive I’ve been looking for a site that shows the difference but haven’t seen any
Inati Phillips comparing the two on Dodge's website, I see the major difference is the fact that the standard uconnect screen in the 2017 model is the small Uconnect 5.0, compared to the much nicer and larger "Uconnect 4 with 7 inch screen" which is standard in the 2018 model.
Nice. My neighbors '74 Challenger had a foot pedal parking brake too. I like them there.

kaharold I think the 3.6L V6 is a good engine. It's in so many FCA (Fiat Chrysler Automotive) vehicles. It might be worth trying to find something used with a V8, but I don't think you can go wrong with the V6 as a daily driver.

My motto is anything over 300 hp is good, your really dont need 800 hp hellcat.where are you going to drive 800 hp at?
Right. 300 to 400 hp is good maybe even 500. The power in this car out powers a lot of 70s and 80s V8s.
I'm seeing used 2019 Challengers with the V6 for less than $20,000 that have less than 30K miles. Be a nice option for someone on a budget instead of a boring Asian economy car.
Awesome review
Happy with my 2016 SXT. A white car that was bland looking until I had some red R/T style stripes done. Get compliments on the car all the time. Inexpensive car in general that gets decent gas mileage and performs acceptably (to me) for daily driving. Lower insurance cost too. Of course a Scatpack or Hellcat would be fun to own but a bit of overkill for the daily driver I think.
Stephen Hommer Absolutely, I think it's a great daily driver and looks awesome. 305hp is also plenty (more than most cars on the road anyway)

My 2017 sxt plus came with a 7inch screen and the spoiler. But no AWD like you said
Reuben Perez the screen in the SXT Plus is the full 8.4” uconnect is it not? And I made a mistake when I made this regarding the AWD-it’s only available on the GT. At the time when I made this Dodge did not have the 2018 Challenger on their website yet and there was no GT trim for 2017 that I know of so I thought AWD was going to be offered on the SXT Plus.
Okay,this is epic

You still can get Apple Carplay in Uconnect 7. Check the specs 🙌🏻
Everything loooks the same as the 2016 and 2016 dodge charger tho? Are there more diffrences?
great review. I agree with all of it, especially the terrible visibility. Crappy side mirrors with humps of the wheel wells, huge hood with low seat cant see out thefront, and small side windows. Visibility is actually the #1 reason I didnt by this and got a charger...
Wasn't for me. So I added another 180hp. :)
86face that works! What’d you do?
The Test Drive running 13psi. 80psi injectors and a ripp supercharger vortech v3 kit
86face supercharger is a great choice. No turbo lag and I love the sound
86face how much was that around?
Yeah how much
I owned an SXT for 5 years and love it, but I had to upgrade to a 2018 R/T.
You can keep it in sport mode if you like. It will keep it in a lower gear and use more fuel tho.
I hope you got the karma grip or some type of gimbal since this video..
It does have Apple car play (my 2018 sxt at least) you just need the charger to plug into the usb slot
Beautiful ride
This guys voice and accent reminds me from a character from Family Guy, but I can't remember who. Gaah
I went from a 2017 ford expedition to a dodge challnger sxt plus and the sxt is way too fast
I'm Thinking To Get One Of My Own
Game Critics45 do it!!!!!!
Great video 💪
come on now dodge I know people like the label and the look of this car, but a turbocharged 2.0 4 cyc in an accord will both outpace and outhandle this car.
I want it!!! I want it!! I want it!!
GM has the same 3.6 VVT
I gotten my 18' mango orange sxt last weekend and tinted all my windows 15% and 50% on the front this weekend I love the car but iam not getting 30mpg on the highway or interstate I stay n the mid 20s mpg
Your gas mileage can be lower if your into the gas more, or driving in sport mode, or if you live in a hilly area. Also you may need to check your air pressure in the tires.
305hp is more than enough and can be easily called american muscle.
I bought exactly the same car and it has Apple carplay and Android Auto. BR from Germany
