      Hi there Jeffrey, this was my aim in this video to show people you can do well in metal detecting with a cheap metal detector. The Nokta Makro Simplex is a great machine for the money. Thank you for coming along to my channel and watching this video, I wish you good fortune on your future hunts. For somebody like me on the cusp of buying my first detector that was a brilliant video. I cannot Justin the expense of something like the Deus, especially as a new starter but to have the Simplex compared so favourably to the much more expensive piece of kit was exactly what I needed to hear. I don’t want to go into this with a detector that is really not going to give me any fun. I have narrowed my choice down almost to the Noktek or the Minelab Equinox. Beautiful Gothic Florin!
    As a 3 yr Simplex user, I was pleased to see it held it's own against a machine (in this test) that's nearly 5 x price. I think Park 1 with the latest update was a major winner in depth gains (compared to the faster recovery on Park 2), but I was really surprised you were not running it on max sensitivity, unless that was the factory settings.
    Generally mine is more stable on the numbers +/- 5 on most things that are not foil or iron-related , especially medium to large coins, so I was equally surprised about the variations you experienced. If the other machine was switched on when you scanned with the Simplex, this might explain it being unsettled. She's simple, but easily intimidated by other sources of EMF.
    Thanks for doing this!

    • @TheDukesOfDerbyshire
      @TheDukesOfDerbyshire  Год назад +2

      Hi Paul, I didn't touch the sensitivity on either machine, I wonder if the sensitivity might of been down from the last time I used it? I wanted this comparison to be a switch on and go in factory settings, I probably should of checked. Would that explain why the numbers were a bit all over on some targets? I am not very prolific with that machine, I've used it probably 20 times in total. Thank you for taking the time to watch and comment, its very much appreciated. I hope to catch you on my next metal detecting adventure

      No need for another post, this is the right place to tell. First of all, thank you for this video. Ideal for me. I use the simplex and thinking about a "better" machine. Why do I write? It's the thing with the jumpy ID numbers on the simplex. Couple years ago I think it was not so jumpy, I definitely can remember that most coins had a very stable ID. Now I have the same like you in this video. I use the Park mode 2. @paul I would like to know your settings and the software number if possible. It might have something to do with a sw update? BTW, I will probably use the simplex another season ☝️🤷‍♂️

      @@Ingolf_unterwegs Hello - I'm on update 2.77, running usually in Park 1 for depth, mostly in fields and pastures with little mineralisation, which is not heavily polluted.
      It automatically ground balances anyway in 4/5 modes, so I always crank up the sensitivity to max, and mostly switch off the iron grunt on zero (all 3 hammer bars off) which cuts down chatter. I do get often fooled by solid iron where the signal strength is difficult to ignore (such as horsehoes around 70), however if I hear the mid-tone dipping or hiccuping I can usually ignore medium sized iron that the Simplex does it's best to screen out. I will however switch on iron when prospecting on a relatively new but 'empty' field, to get to possible hotspots of prior activity.
      I use Field mode or All Metal when a target is deeper and escaping me in Park 1, just to locate any very lost signals after digging a plug.
      I also use the green and black Teknetics Tek-Point Pulse pinpointer, which is pretty powerful and makes my post-plug game pretty rapid and efficient.
      Hope that is useful. 🙂

Tiny bits of foil, 6-7 inches It says max 8 inches on the screen, but performs amazingly well and better than expected. I'm very happy and have dug up loads of rubbish. Lots and lots. No gold so far. The sore back and arm is for free🤣🤣 I've used it for eight hours and the batteries haven't even drained a quarter. Hi Craig, thanks for tuning in and leaving me awesome comments. I actually filmed this video back in March (8 months ago). This is a field where my friend found 3 of these Gothic florins in the same hole along with a bunch of other old silver coins. We scoured the area 4 years ago. Then low and behold I have uncovered another one! It really is an amazing hobby!! Its a beautiful coin and definitely part of the same coin spill my mate had all those years ago. Great Gothic Florin bud. Good hunt. I had a William IV Sixpence (1834) yesterday on my permission. Always nice to get silver. I have had 5 silvers in the last 6 times out, must be a gold coin or artefact around here somewhere considering the silver that has been dropped lol. Like you, I will keep searching (with my Nox 800). My Sovereign GT is collecting dust, must give it a charge soon. All the best bud and HH.

Several years ago, my friend and I were detecting this field for the first time, my friend had a big signal, we dug it out and it was a stack of old silver coins including 3 mint Gothic florins, a couple of half crowns among other coins. We spent many sessions scouring that area but found no more.... Until this March when I was filming this video... It really is a crazy hobby! I Still use Eurotek Pro with Mars Tiger coil on it, it much much more stable than Simplex and Vanquish 540 which I use to have. That buckle would have read about 88 to 92 on eurotek to about 12" down. I'll probably try out T2 se for next detector, it's more in my affordable range and probably closest to Dues be my guess. Over the years it seems all the new kids on the block below $400 all seem to share similar traits with jumpy target ID, and in tougher sites really struggle to pull any the deeper goodies, seems like they are really not great at unmasking. Every target can sound good with Simplex is the problem I had with it, and way to jumpy for time limited deep coin shooting. Dues sounds awesome and very stable.

      Hi there Mark, there is a lot to be said about new machines and new technology, but with metal detecting, success in the field comes with knowing your machine and having great land. I know a lot of guys who still use big old heavy machines and have great success. But ultimately these modern lightweight machines are brilliant and if you are passionate about something, you should always have the best kit that you can afford. Thanks for this video. I've been running the Deus II for a few months now, I love the machine (although I've found most of my goods with the At-Max). i just purchased the Simplex for a backup detector. I've used it only twice, but so far, I'm not happy with it. It may be because I was hoping to get a little more depth with the 11 inch. coil (my Deus is 9 inch.). The Deus is so much lighter/smaller, but I may not feel that way if I started with the Simplex. Thanks for the video.

      Hi mate, if you have been using an XP machine, going to a Simplex is going to feel pretty horrible. Yes its a great price, but its heavy, its noisy and a little bit erratic compared to the smoothness and cleaness of an XP metal detector. But there is a huge difference in cost there. @@daveromano8094 I love the simplex, it's a fantastic budget machine. Having had hands on with the D2 for a decent amount of time now I can only disagree with the "overpriced" statement for so many reasons.
      My finds rate has increased dramatically.
      The amount of rubbish dug has reduced drastically.
      Using the Sensitive full tones, I can't really explain without you having had hands on experience but you can HEAR the shape of what you are digging. I'm at a point with the D2 now where I can swing over a signal and know 9 times out of 10 what I'm going to be digging. This is something you'll never achieve with the simplex because the tonal Nuance and VDI are nowhere near as precise as the D2.
      Like I said, you won't appreciate the value of those extra pounds spent until you have spent them.

The only thing you could pull is that the numbers aren't very stable on the Simplex but the tones were consistent 👍🏻 but once you've swung an XP machine for a day and noticed how incredibly light they are, that's definitely a massive benefit, you probably won't want to go back to a big clunky machine. Compared to the Nokta Impact the Simplex is just a toy and is the best VLF ever made. The most popular detector in Russia and introduced in Australia in 2017 and still being built due to the worldwide strong demand. It can be used in the Golden Triangle in Victoria's goldfields and not affected by the very high mineralised soils.

I upgraded to an Equinox 800 and i've not found anymore finds but i have found less. Now that sounds odd finding less but there's a lot out there hiding that you don't actually want to find, or can identify better with a more capable machine and avoid. The 800 is without a doubt a better machine than the Simplex and i would never go back to a Simplex, but for the money it would be a great starter detector.

      Quest won't be releasing the V80 or V60 or are told to hold anymore sales, being sued by Minelab. To heck with this Chinese knock off company, this is twice they have done this first done to First Texas instruments. People quit buying Chinese machines

      Hi Gene, all my metal detecting permissions are undisturbed pasture fields like this with not that much iron in the ground. So its not really possible for me to do this kind of thing. This simple comparison was to see if a cheap metal detector could see the signals found with an expensive metal detector. I would like to thank you for taking the time to watch this video and for leaving me a comment. I very much hope to see you on my next metal detecting adventure

      Hi mate, thanks for visiting my channel and taking time out your day to watch this video. The XP Deus 2's tones are customisable, you can modify them to suit. I have never actually done this as I like them the way they are. I do not like the Nokta tones though. Hey up matey. My simplex has just arrived after much digging to find the most suitable detector & I can say I’m very excited! Have you got any tips & advice on how to get your first permissions? I’ve actually got a large woods not far from my home, would it be a massive crime to go & explore or should I contact the local council? Thanks again matey, great video 👍

      Hi mate, it is illegal to metal detect anywhere without the landowners permission. You could get into a bit of trouble. I'd get on google maps, look for local farms, visit them and politely ask. That's how we all do it. But dress smart, be polite, be enthusiastic. It is like a job interview. You need to come across as trustworthy

    Does it matter what figures are on the display if you're digging up everything you detect?

    • @TheDukesOfDerbyshire
      @TheDukesOfDerbyshire  Год назад

      Hi, not really. The numbers on the screen of a detector are for reference. The number gives you an indication of the composition of the metal ie 90+ can be copper and silver. Pull tabs 60s, small gold less than 50 etc etc

      Well in this day and age we are spoilt for choice. Any machine made my XP, Garrett, Nokta, Minelab would be a great place to start. Depends what kind of landscape you will be metal detecting and of course how much you want to spend?

      @@dtodoagroferreteria3108 I use the XP Deus 2, a very good lightweight machine, but expensive. I would recommend the brands above, but the important thing is no matter what machine you go for, you need to learn it

    If the Nokta Makro SimpleX is a metal detector for beginners, which one is the metal detector to go for the more experienced users?.

      Hello, thank you for taking the time to watch this video and for leaving a comment. The natural progression from the Simplex would be the Legend (also from Nokta Makro).
