    This is the clearest explanation and demo I’ve seen of this technique -especially since I shoot with a GH5 and edit in FCPX. Thanks and God-bless!

    I literally just learned this morning that my camera has variable speeds. only 60 fps, but it's makes slow-mo in post much easier!

    VERY helpful, thank you! I'm looking forward to checking out the film school course(s). An observation - forgive me, I'm 76 and this comes from old-time ad research. It would be a slightly more comfortable viewing experience if you sat back a bit from the camera and maybe a little off center. The research shows that enlarged closeups of the human face tend to feel intrusive - the video becomes more about the face than the content. Believe me, I offer this unsolicited tip because I love your channel! All success with your new school project!

      I'm with you..However one needs to bear in mind what is considered close up and in your face or Intrusive can vary from person to person...Im in my late 50's and live in New Zealand with lots of space and small population and we generally are use to a large personal space than say someone from Hong Kong...I find his style great and think his distance is spot on as to me it feels more personable with his delivery of the message. So in a nut shall if enough people look at something there are going to be alot of different takes. I say keep up doing what your doing

It's greatest strength, IMHO, is your keen ability to break down extremely complex topics in a simple and easily digestible way for a schmuck like me to understand and use. I've taken lessons directly from your videos and used them for my business (different channel from this, don't want to hijack anything). Thank you so very much man and keep up the great work! *****!!!!

    Can you give a tip about the shutter speed to match with those fps you said in the video.

      120 is amazing for getting really smooth slow motion. However, I use 60 all the time because my camera shoots 4k 60. Both look great. Can't wait to see 120fps 4k slow motion in mirrorless cameras

    Ideally, shoot in higher frame rate but if you need to slow down 24 or 30fps footage and you use Premiere Pro, check out the new "Optical Flow" under Time Interpolation... it works much like Twixtor but comes with the software and works really good at creating new frames to avoid stuttery motion.

    I just heard the other day that it is best to shoot as low FPS as possible, because most of the time you lose 'data per frame' if you increase the amount of fps. Got me thinking, do vloggers switch between FPS modes when vlogging and shorting BROLL? So, curious. I shoot everything at 50 fps, so I can always use it for broll afterwards.

  • @SuSiervo70

    What about camera movement? Since the footage is going to be moving slower, should you not do slow camera moves so that it is not too slow? Should the camera move be faster than normal since it will be slowed down?

    Do you have a video or any guidelines in making Twixtor work, I've tried it a number of times in different footage and my results were always motion blurred as regardless of how much or how little compensation I'd apply. My result always ends up looking like what FCPX's Optical Flow gives you which isn't a bad result but not good enough when you're trying to fake slow-mo.

  • @Jona
    @Jona 6 лет назад

    Ok this video is really telling the basics of the basics 😄 I thought you would mentoin something about shutter speed in slow motion (is there a difference?) i mean when normally recording you do that 180 degree thing but in slowmotion.. are we shooting 180 too or is it any different then? (I was just wondering when i saw your title)

    • @JevenDovey
      @JevenDovey  6 лет назад +1

      Apple99er - Filmmaking, Fotografie & Grafikdesign gonna cover that in my next video for this series. It’s gonna be on tips to make slow motion better. Yes you want to shoot at 180 unless you’re using Twixtor. Then you want no motion blur to get it to create frames properly.
