Where to start? 1. Your background is off the chain 2. I need to shrink you and carry you around in my pocket 3. You made me realise how shit my new channel is... but thank God it's new! Thank you 4. I am going to do your homework! 5. It's people like you, that change peoples lives. You are amazing. Suddenly my future looks so much brighter. I never realised how much fun and how hard it is to create these brilliant shots. I love experimenting and now you have really opened my eyes... 6. How anyone cannot sub and have notifications on, after watching this is shocking! You simply Rock. Thank you x
I forgot how good u were at teaching this stuff. I wish u would do another video about b roll. no offense but to me that has way more value than a video about crashing the new fpv drone. wish u would get back to teaching
I've watched so many videos about b-roll. I still don't feel ready to start filming (analysis paralysis...). But this video really encouraged me and even offered some new, unique advice. Thanks, man!
I now know that I know nothing. I want to have fun, and shoot video for fun. I've always loved it (and flying). But really, I need to strip down expectations and search for 'fun' - at least for me. A story is always necessary. Thank you for yet another great video.
He is the man, inspired me to start my own youtube channel. Thanks Jeven Dovey keep up the good work... My favourite composition is a tight closeup shot of an eye ball projecting the reflection of what you are doing on the screening of the laptop. Damm man that shot always mesmerize me.
Great ideas. Lately I’ve been concentrating on my B-Roll but have left out the mid distance shots. I’ve been taking mostly far away and closeups. In fact today I’ll go back on the project I’m currently working on and get some mid distance shots. Thanks.
Great tips! My favorite compositions are a drone flying away from mountains going from close up to wide view and footage of fish swimming under water attacking lures.
Another awesome video! I'm just eating your tutorials up this weekend! 🤣Quick question; you asked at the end what was people's favorite composition, but i don't think you mentioned what YOUR favourite composition was? Do you have one? Has it changed since you made this video? I'd love to know your thoughts!
I've enjoyed your videos and been a subscriber for many months now. I always enjoy your no nonsense, direct and clear approach. Thank you. If you're looking for an idea for a future play list how about telling us how you organize your footage after you get back from a trip, like the Canadian rockies hike. How do you save it, mark it, etc. etc. to know where the volumes of video is to retrieve and use it, not only for the current project or vlog, but to get back to it later if you need to grab a snippet for something like this??? That would be a great help to me and I'm sure to many other creators.
I'm really happy I randomly came to this channel and here I can have all the content I want to learn and that too in easy detail form Thank you for these content ✌
The composition I love is having a close up of me talking to one side of the frame, then an off-focus back ground of (beautiful) nature. Haven't succeeded yet at it though :-)
One more comment... I'm near retirement. I've always loved video, and what we can do with it vis-a-vi computer software. Photography, which I was never that great at I think, is also so much more enhanced by current technology - maybe making someone like me at least better. At this point in my life I'd really just like to contribute to experiences for others, which means both video and photography - to capture those moments for others that I wish I would have had once. Actually I think I did have those moments, but the technology is so much improved to record them. This has not been relevant to your video except I recognize how well you teach someone as dumb as me. Thanks again. Subscriber for life - as long as that might be.
A couple of things that I like and are cinematic are videos by the Hungarian Rock Group "The Hu." Yuve Yuve Yu and Wolf Totem are 2 great songs and videos to start with.
Great video, thanks Jeven. Just one question: what method and support do you use to plan your videos? Do you always write a kind of script? Simply by using a pen and a sheet? Or a text editor on your computer? Thanks again!
I have tested many script editors. Story Plotter (free) works best for us. Nowadays we use Trello to full satisfaction to plan assignments / activities. This allows us to work more efficiently and prevents a lot of frustration. I hope I have been able to help you with these tips. Of course, it remains different per person and company which fits best.
My favorite compositions by the way are from the channel SVDelos - they are just video recordings of their adventures, but their editing is done very well. It's not the same subject I grant you, but I hope you note their channel as you are an inspired person, as well as everyone that has served upon SVDelos. Sorry for three comments in a row. I'll stop now.
Great tips!! Thank you. How do you store/file all your b-roll clips and video? Cloud? Multiple local drives? Just thinking how much content there will be...
Omg!! I’ve been trying to learn this. I’m hopping to get better because I want to vlog and blend my healthcare channel to some personal vlogs. I can’t wait to learn
I know but we've been using phones and now gopro cams for multiple angles but they don't like to be on for a long time either and i burned one. The quality was not that great either but at least we can create lol.
Yep this is exactly what I need, my RUclips channel and my creative flow needs an education that's what I'm talkin about LOL thank you her putting this out there into the RUclips world and I am the welcomed glad receiver
Hi Jeven! Any input on the Mavic Pro 3 convo? I see that you have the Air 2. I bought it last week with no knowledge about the 3 and its release. I hear rumors that its due on September 26th. Do you think that will replace your Air 2?
Check out my full series on how to Film B roll ruclips.net/p/PLkaoI6xBVLZ95ay22Cj9eBaDM2f8zWy4_
But is there? ...is there C roll? :P

Think I learned more from you here in one video than three years at uni.
Thank god! A B-Roll video about B-roll and not another "filmmaker" showing slow motion sequences and calling them B-roll. :)
I now know that I know nothing. I want to have fun, and shoot video for fun. I've always loved it (and flying). But really, I need to strip down expectations and search for 'fun' - at least for me. A story is always necessary. Thank you for yet another great video.
you, my buddy, are a fantastic teacher, love all your fantastic stuff!
A centered, symmetrical composition . . that's hypnotic to me!
B-roll with such a beautiful baby is allways the finishing touch. 😍 So the B stands for Baby-Roll 👶-🎥💡😊
I've been working on my b-roll for a few months now and it getting better! Thanks for the tips, great channel for beginners
Good points on b roll it is not just slow motion and what is the purpose is really useful.
I legit feel as if I'm in a homeschool class of filmmaking.
Awesome! Lots more coming!

Hi Jeven. This is a fantastically helpful series of videos. Thanks so much from the UK 🇬🇧 !

Feels like I'm leveling up watching your videos!
Thank you for the good information I just received my 22 mm wide angle lens And can’t wait to test out some new B roll ideals
The composition I love is having a close up of me talking to one side of the frame, then an off-focus back ground of (beautiful) nature. Haven't succeeded yet at it though :-)
Very good aproach to describe how it should be done. Thank you. 📸

00:06 I'm not just talking about 120fps slow-mo. "Why did you look at me when you said that?" - Peter Mckinnon
😂😂

Goddamit this is another video I needed to see
A camera movement like in the beginning of 'Rear Window'.
