Loved the fact that you used a "crappy" location to demonstrate how to make it look as good as possible. Great job - tons of people fly to exotic locations to show off technique and they have the advantage of a great location. Most of us have to make crap look good! You did it!
I re-watched the video and... damn. That is an awful location. But the end result really is good, which totally reinforces the whole point... that you have to roll around in the dirt to make art.

I almost never leave comments on RUclips videos but this was GREAT. Clear, funny, interesting, and explaining the difference between going through the motions & making an effort. Thank you so much. I'm afraid I have not done what you asked, and I've subscribed. Ha!
I really appreciate this kind of content. It helps me sidestep the amateur mistakes. 10/10. I'll be returning to this video to make sure I've gotten everything I can out of it.
This IS BEST VALUE tips and trics. I feel so much more confident knowing this. Not just your regular youtube star throwing perfect broll and telling you smallest bits of not essential information. Love it. Thank you.
Great video! Solid way to show that going the extra mile makes a huge difference. On a completely unrelated note, your voice reminds me of Champ Kind from anchorman... IG you could just toss in a WHAMMY here and there in a video that would be great! Thanks!
This was ABSOLUTELY INFORMATIVE! And even after watching as many Peter M. Videos as I have, I honestly don’t think I’ve seen anything as useful as what you’ve given us here. RAW behind the scenes with comparisons to the average person behind camera. Love it! Thank you so much. From one creator to another. 🙏🏽🔥
Paraphrased but, “the main difference between an amateur and a professional is that the professional tries harder”. That’s so true. Whether it’s laziness, embarrassment, or whatever, the more effort you put into each shot, the exponentially better your entire sequence will become. Love all your videos. Happy Monday from another 110 degree location in Clovis, CA!
Whenever I need to film something (usually getting broll) I feel so much pressure, feel so afraid to fail that I end up trying so hard...trying basically everything, every angle, every lens. At the end I get so much footage to choose from, that I can make a good sequence. I don't consider myself talented, but insanely hard working. That's how I learned "videography" which in turn allows me to study engineering.
This guy is original and HILARIOUS. Sure has fantastic humour. He literally changed the game! Nobody ever says "don't subscribe to me' hahaha. I learn't a lot. Thanks!
PLEASE Do a Video in regard to getting rid of reflections on surfaces when recording video. For example Im preparing to shoot a series and I will be using my UHD TV as part of the background set but my goodness it reflects like a mirror. I wonder if there is a way to remove the reflection maybe with a polarizing filter? or light positioning? not sure what can work. need help. Thanks in advanced.
Great. Georgeous Shots/Exaples, very good this beginner vs. experiensed Stuff. My fav. is the lowAngle with Cactus and the one with the backlit Grass !
"The pro is trying harder" he says, as he continues to sweat from extra effort. Point well made. Though I reckon he is mostly sweating due to the heat.
Very good advice. Don't shoot just what you see, shoot the things you have to look for. The hidden gems that make beautiful pictures are not typically right in front of you.

I started out shooting news in the early 90's. A few things I learned have been extremely valuable over the years. 1. Get a wide and MCU/CU of each shot if you can. 2. Shoot unique angles (the stuff you showed here) 3. Hold your shots. I've worked with vids who don't hold a shot and I just want to choke them! Hang on the end of shot for a few seconds. It doesn't cost you anything and the editor will thank you.
These tips were great! At the end of the day you are completely correct, the major separation between a beginner and a pro is not only trying harder but also knowing what to look for in order to spice up that shot and get a more interesting perspective. I love how that was all done handheld as well, no tripod or stabilizer. Great stuff!
I love how you made a simple and plain (not so nice) location... into semi-art! Learning lots from everyday people like you to become a better film/videographer!!!
