- A behind the scenes demonstration of how shoot travel b-roll sequences without a plan.
PS: Sorry to my Buddhist friends for going into the cave with shoes. I knew this rule for normal temples and I always take my shoes off there. I just did not know that for the cave as I missed the sign during the shoot :-(
Of course, I will follow that rule next time I will be there and look more closely at other temples in the future!

1. Thank you for the tips.
2. I have a genuine question. Did the Buddhist agree to be shown on youtube? what about privacy rules? do you always check it in every country, ask people or just don't care (didn't think about it) unless someone will report she/he want to be removed? I'm asking here as I would like to respect people privacy not to mention follow the law ;) In the other hand people make this world more interesting...so it is nice to film them. How is your approach it?
You can see on his shirt, at the end, how much he worked for us to receive so much valuable information for free! Wish you all the best mate! And thank you for sharing with us such a great video ! 👍👍👍👍👍
Oh yeah, that was hot one haha. Thanks!
this guy deserves way more subscribers
Thanks a lot, working on it ;-)
But I actually prefer having subscribers that actually want to learn something as just going for the masses tbh
@@pascalbasel That's a great way of thinking about it. Can't wait for more
Yes
Definitely!
I always get a bit overwhelmed because I don't plan anything ahead. I have a travel coming soon and these are extremely useful, quick tips to get nice-looking footage. Thanks!
15:34 that shot I try to take every time ..that sun flare from among the leaves looks so beautiful 🤩
This is my favorite video of yours, and looks like many people agree. Hopefully you'll do another one just like this, walking around, capturing shots, constantly explaining what you are doing and why.
The two dogs was a good subject to focus on too 😁
Those dogs deserve more Eyecatches !
Who else got that ?
Wat Umong, I miss that place. Great to see you don’t need a gimble to get solid cinematic shots 👏
Absolutely
Thanks for this video Pascal, it’s excellent. The title attracted me because I never have a plan with my B-roll. When I visit a place, the layout and circumstances spontaneously create the plan. Your summary is the best advice. Shoot for the edit. Always have storytelling in mind but spending time getting variations on a given sequence gives you maximum flexibility in post. Push-in, but also pull-out. Pan both right and left, Tilt-up as well as down. Don’t forget to get a wide shot of your telephoto to give it location. When you make a camera movement, also do a variation where you start with a held shot and end the move with a held shot. This gives you maximum flexibility for smoothly transitioning to your next clip, which can now be a static, pan right or left, reveal or whatever. Your advice to get fillers is important. They don’t even have to relate to the main subject. Colorful foliage moving in the breeze etc. My mindset is that I’ll only be in this place once in a lifetime so make the most of it.
God will always bless you for the fact that you share your own tricks to teach the world.
Thanks Dan 👍🏻
Your dedication and effort to this art of making videos is amazing. Glad to have found your channel.
