I am watching alot of these how to film yourself videos right now and this one really stands out. As a filmmaker you gotta think of all the details, I really love it. I also bought my first camera to record clips of me and my friends back when jackass was popular haha
This video is stuffed with valuable information. This definitely helps me make better video's, as I mostly learn by example. Seeing a professional at work is so much better than reading books or listening to theoretical explanations. Thanks again for putting in the work.
This is absolutely amazing! I travel solo a lot and it’s easy to take a picture of myself, not so easy to record myself enjoying my destination. I wished I could have somebody filming me, well now not anymore!
You have great tutorials. I follow a few people on youtube but you are the one which i really learn the most from. By the way, a tip i can give you as a viewer... it is perfectly fine to make multiple tutorials of the same subject. Lighting tutorial for example. Although you tell your viewers the same principle over and over again, in the additional video, you give them more examples. That is something i and other viewers are always looking for :) Keep it up!
Vlogging hikes definitely adds miles to the hike and really can tire you out. I have to laugh, you trip on the stairs and tree root are perfect. I have been there and done that.
I like the way you say about things. Native English speakers like to say words but that doesn't mean a lot sometimes. In here every second it's very informative. It feels like video taken out from a filmmaker course. Great Job. I'm impressed.
Pascal, I recently found your channel and became a subscriber because of your simple and down to earth videos. You explain everything down to the lamest terms. Good job!
Very good tutorial on this topic, good job, thanks! Filming yourself and creating an interesting story is definitely not easy, I know. It is a very slow process when you try to get good looking clips and edit them together to get the story flow seamlessly. You did not talk too much about audio, but I find e.g. J and L cuts (and sound design in general) helping a lot in transitioning from a clip to another. Perhaps a topic for another video?
Yeah, lots of sound design in here, but that's another topic. It's a bit hard to make a tutorial as I use multiple paid libraries (Lens Distortions, Bryn Norths packs etc.). So it's more like going through the libraries and look what I think fits to the footage and story I have or want to create.
Hi Pascal, fellow LCA member, supporting the fam. I literally just puled this up on RUclips and then saw your post on FB. Good info as I'm such a beginner and the more info I can get the better.
Such a great tutorial, thanks 🙏🏻. I’m getting so many great tips to help me improve my mountain biking channel and B-roll is such a great addition. I’m filming with my iPhone and GoPro’s only so trying to incorporate all of your tips. I really appreciate your style and you make it all so uncomplicated and easy/enjoyable to understand. Thanks Pascal✊

Hello sir. I'm subhojit from India.. I Recently Started Watching Your Videos . Love Your Videos, Tutorials. Thank You so much For making amezing content like this..🥰🥰🥰🥰
Hi Pascal. Great Video, it helps me a lot. It really needs time to do "only" some b-roll shots...but also it's fun to shoot them 🙂 your tips are very helpful for me because I also use a Fujifilm even I know cameras don't matter , it's always the same procedure... I would be very interested how you create your audio. Thanks a lot for your videos 👍😊
Thank you Stefanie, Fuji matters actually a bit as it saves so much time color grading haha. I use some paid libraries for the sound design. Can make a tutorial, but it's not cheap ;-)

I'm planning on doing some phone tutorials when I get an iPhone 12... currently on the Xr where I hate the colors at sunset etc. But generally most of the stuff that applies to normal cameras also applies to phones. You're just a bit more limited as you often can't zoom.

I use my nikon d7200 for my videos, but it's so heavy to take with me. So if anyone would recommend a light camera or maybe a gopro I would really appreciate it.
Super useful, thanks a lot for putting this together Pascal. Quick question: How did you capture your audio for this video? It's crystal clear! Would love more content around capturing audio/sound design! Keep up the good work.
Thanks Baptiste, I used the Sony EBM-B1M Mic with the a7Siii. So really just shotgun with a bit of normalisation and level adjustment in post. This mic is crazy good even you're a bit further away.
Weiter so! Danke Woher hast Du die Musik?
The camera that filmed me is the a7S iii. I used it with single point af + face tracking at the beginning, what seem to have these issues. When we switched to wide af, it worked perfectly.
@@pascalbasel I went up there about a year ago. As it happens I am planning to go up there in a few days as the blossom is on the trees now. Just bought a GH5 so looking for some colourful subjects 😎

For the talking part I used the Sony ECM-B1M on the a7S iii and the other sounds are either added from paid libraries or just from the internal camera mic.
Yes, it's the 18-55. I used the 16-55 before and it's hands down the best lens for Fuji. Just changed it because I use the a7S iii together with the X-T4. So the smaller lens saves a bit of space and weight in my bag. But this lens also makes a great impression so far.
@@ourendlessworld The 16-55 doesn't have OIS... It feels like I have to add stabilisation to less clips in post on the 18-55. So it should be a bit better but I didn't really test it to give a perfect answer.

Only the sequence took be about 4 hours, including color grading and sound design.
