Dragon’s breath testing reality: having 5 friends keep a wall up around the boss spamming glacier grenades trying not to let ads get to the boss like bloons tower defense
The ads being around boss are kind of the whole point of the gun tho. However it makes testing nearly impossible.
BTD6 testing goes hard
Lmao 5 stasis titanwith hoarfrost-z blocking all the ads spawn room
@@TheAegisRelicwhen comes the optimised Bloons DPS Test ? Ngl i would watch that 😂

Super unrelated but. Dragons breath is the fastest way to kill the primeval in gambit. 3-4 players with it, solar subclasses purely built into ignitions with incendiary grenades. 1 rocket and it can almost immediately health gate him. Bonus points if you have a pyrogale titan using consecration hit instantly after the rocket impact for an instant ignition.
No, its related don’t worry.
@@IDECIDETHETRUTHnot related at all this channel almost entirely focuses on high level pve and gambit is anything but that lol
Based gambit enjoyer spotted
Super unrelated but if you don't near instant kill the gambit boss it isn't the fastest way to kill it
a weighted throwing knife precision hit instantly ignites any scorched target it hits. combined with the artifact mod, all solar guns scorch, weighted throwing knife hits ignite, ophidia spathe means 2 knives, gamblers dodge means 4 knives that can ALL ignite on their own without getting any kills
I'm sure many of you have already realized this, but Dragon's Breath also makes that "click" noise when it's auto-reloaded just like other ALH weapons. This is the way I keep track of my fuel stacks when I'm on special weapons during my rotation.
I swear I can’t hear any audio cue for dragons breath once it’s fully loaded 🫤
I love how there is a skill gap to use Dragons Breath effectively instead of just being a spam to win weapon that makes everything else irrelevant.
Aegis if you see this I would like to hear your thoughts on the best rockets/perks to use with argent ordinance this season.
I was using a reconstruction/bipod Apex with argent ordinance and scatter signal while the rocket reloaded in Warlords Ruin and it seems REALLY GOOD to me.
Watching Fallout and Aztecross spam Dragon's Breath at x1 stacks and then say it's not very good was painful
wow this is my first time on your channel and just wanted to say thank you. I've seen like 3 videos on Dragon's already and even if they were using it correctly, it still left a lot of question unaswered. you covered it extensively and made it really easy to understand it all. thanks again for the work mate, definitely deserves a sub!
Appreciate it!
"The best exotic to use with this is sunbracers." And by "this", he means anything. Sunbracers is the best exotic to use with literally anything.
Hahaha
Technically apotheosis claps sunbracers for dragons breath because you can get more scotch and stuff in with the ability to spam melee AND grenade AND rockets
@StrawberrySinju except for the major fact that apotheosis only last for 8 secs... sunbracers is infinite
@@Tomahulk if you get another kill, yeah, but if you can't then apotheosis wins that easily
In the case of no ads I'd take starfire over apotheosis... run DB w/ cartesian and you'll always net more damage with using the weapons with a couple nades mixed in. With Apotheosis you either have to waste the second or 2 to shoot a rocket after grenade/melee animation, cuz 8 secs of abilities is way more scorch than what it takes to reload DB
I’ve been on your videos since last season. Please keep up the good work. Thanks, and happy holidays.
this video is gonna get me through my leg day. thx aegis. i’ve been waiting on this one. i’ve been so curious about dragons breath.
great video, most in detail analysis of dragon's breath i've seen so far
Thank you for all the hard work on making this sheet, such a good resource for everyone in the community :)
Thank you so much for all the numbers and resources you provide
Thank you for doing all this testing Mr Aegis!
Thanks for the numbers.
One of my favs from D1.
doing the lord's work. I appreciate the extent to what you go through for your content
Thank you so much for all of this information. Hope you did well on your exams
Thank you!
This is making me think about the new solar warlock super, and how you can grant allies "scorch rounds." It probably wouldn't work that well in 6 man, but in 2-3 man groups, having your guns also build scorch alongside dragon's breath sounds like it would work pretty well.
It would depend on how much scorch you apply with each shot because if it took more than 5 shots from another weapon you'd be losing dps
@@elijahwaggoner545900rpm smgs my friend
You can simulate that this season. There's a seasonal mod that lets all solar weapon scorch whenever you're radiant
@@jonahbrown5669 the perk also states it only works on unscorched enemies
"Very soon" indeed.
One thing I've done for a quick first reload on hunter is prethrow a GPG grenade, rocket, weighted knife to ignite. Done correctly I can immediately fire another rocket. Then with two rockets stacking scorch it lets me fire off rockets much more quickly for short dps phases.
Also as said in the video, let the rocket handle the ignitions to load itself and dump your other weapons.
Actually so excited to test more rotations with this thing after a number of basic tests using random builds.
I will first try lucky pants swap from nighthawk but I might try something like shards as well
Starfire is really strong with dragon's breath as well for a few reasons. I used this combo for all of Warlord's Ruin solo flawless and came VERY close to 2-phasing the first two bosses. Quickly gives you 60 scorch stacks which means pretty much insta-ignition after shooting a rocket. And the dragon's breath scorch ticks plus your supplement fusion rifle/sniper/whatever damage charges your grenades. And if there's any adds around that Dragon's breath kills you'll get huge chunks of your grenade back.
For WR in particular I think Sunbracers work better given the enemy presence
The goat
Thanks for the in depth analysis
another neat thing about verity's;
if you throw your nade before any scorch are applied, the first ignition will inherit the buff (we all know this)
however, any consecutive ignitions will *not* scale, BUT any kills those ignotions get will refresh the buff for you, therefore you dont need to focus on refreshing it manually. Obviously it wont do anything if no ads get caught in the blast, but eruption would be nice for slightly bigger booms to guarantee refreshing buff :)
Wonder what happens if you use it with fragment that scorches in ignition.
Something that works for me is just tripple solar surge shoot dragons once then 3 eremite shots and by the dragons has reloaded throwing in shards of galanor
Dragon's Breath carried me to my three phase in my Solo Flawless attempt in Prophecy today at work, wish this video came out before hand otherwise I might've done a 2 phase lol
I dont think people meant to use it _exactly_ like Anarchy when we compared it to it, its that youre better off tagging the boss, then swapping to something else until its ready.
Which i know is also like auto loading. But i never thought they meant to shoot the ground, you give up all that impact damage as you said.
This launcher is absolutely what I need as a solo player. I don't have good heavy DPS, but this thing fills that role and leaves me with good solar ad clear options. I managed to solo Grasp, and the first boss of Warlord. Not much, but I don't dedicate my life to Destiny anymore lol
Would love a video on optimizing fireteam damage in the new dungeon :)
Titan + goldy's
i love AEGIS the destiny 2 youtuber
I've been using dragon's breath in the new dungeon with supremacy on solar hunter and it felt really good on the first 2 bosses. I was also running solar hunter and using my dodge and melee to be a pseudo apotheosis warlock.
Amazing video man thank you for that! Just one question that’s isn’t related to dragons breath but was mentioned right at the end. Just curious as to what the izi, gl, apex combo is? Namely what gl and role and what role on the apex? Awesome video tho man appreciate all you do ❤
There's a video in my spreadsheet's Ranking tab showing how to do the Izi GL Apex rotation I'm talking about
glad you took the time to test it rather than immediately sharting out a guide the moment it unlocked ♥
Shards of galanor hunter with this and a solar fusion is insane.... I get 2-3 superd off for the ogre in the dungeon and get the reload so fast considering solar weapons scorch when you are radiant. Always radiant on hunter, Cartesian coordinate or examine just scorches and damages in-between. So good for solo
Out here doing gods work as usual, thank you!🙌
I’ve been curious on how you set up your builds after the change to mods and with the new artifact perks. Any chance you could make a video covering that?
I know it’s what a lot of RUclipsrs do nowadays and it might seem a bit generic, but giving your experience and expertise on everything destiny related, I still think a lot of people would really appreciate it, I know I would.
Anyways, just an idea.
Have a nice day🙌
Yeah I've been floated the idea, it's on the list somewhere
DB with Shards of Galanor, fan of knives spam is pretty great. You get super back pretty quick and you can get dodge to get melee back very quick as well with the one solar fragment
That's what I used for my solo dungeon clear.
The therapy I needed
Dang, we gonna be eating good this season with Aegis.
Happy to know I've been using it correctly since the start. I'm no pro but I've been getting nice results with Pyrogale, shooting the rocket before and after the super, because the massive scorch from it instantly reloads it, not to mention the massive damage from the super too.
DB has easily become my new favorite exotic, it's so good for ads and well as boss DPS when you pair it with something like Scatter Signal w/Controlled Burst or Succession w/BnS, even without focusing ignitions.
Just to keep in mind, with the catalyst, the passive regen of the fuel is 1 stack per 3s. So even with a single ignite going off, you only need 6ish seconds before it reloads itself, and using good special weapons for dmg over trying to spam an extra ignition will usually be a better idea, don't sweat it, you'll get the ignitions. (also i haven't tested it yet, but it likely should be possible to time your follow up shots to go just as the last ignite is about to be caused and get a faster rotation as it ignites as you fire your shot, might be some swag rotation)
Edit. Also idk what game your playing, sunbracers perk can't be stored by just not throwing your nade. The 5s timer starts when your melee gets a kill. If you apply scorch to a target with your melee, then it ignites in any way, you can delay the melee kill, but if you get that kill and just wait, the perk will go away
Yeah it's pretty nice
My biggest question about this thing: what are its total component damage portions
Is the entirety of its damage scorch/ignitions? How big is the impact damage, and does the propellent itself do any damage?
It brings big affinity questions. If the majority of its damage is scorch/ignitions, do i match solar surge or am i free for different loadout options? How much damage do i lose for not being a solar subclass (ember of ashes)?
If it isn't said already I literally point everyone in my clan to your videos, keep it up my man!
Thanks!
How big of a diff does amber of ashes do? I keep trying with and without for solos but I don’t see a diff. Hard to tell with how inconsistent this gun is
Should use it, it speeds up ignites
Hey Aegis! I think Dawn Chorus is actually a viable combo with Dragon's Breath IF you use Daybreak with it. I tested it and you can get 2 million with it if you use the super between rocket shots, then normal weapon rotation after that. Though I could see the time it takes to use daybreak being a factor in DPS loss. Still a fun combo if you're not doing the top 1% of endgame content, though! (The video of the testing is on my channel if you're interested in seeing it!)
Best destiny RUclipsr
Hey Aegis, can you clarify how much Ember of Ashes increases damage output of Dragon's Breath by? I'm rewatching parts of this over and over and I don't think you talked about this at any point? If Ember of Ashes isn't needed, then there isn't too much incentive to be on Solar while using this weapon.
I think I forgot to mention it - doesn't increase damage AFAIK but increases ignition rate especially while solo which helps with faster reloads
He wasn't kidding when he said he was gonna share his Dragon's Breath testing with us soon
hey aegis, are balidorse wrathweavers now useless for engame dps? or is it more viable to move someone off that stasis warlock role and over to a hunter for more increased damage
Imo yeah
They did a good job with this weapon.
The thing I would definitely say… and we’re in a whole different phase of the game now than we were before… that they should probably revert most if not all of the Anarchy nerfs at this point.
Please yeah
Maybe something to consider adding, but I would love to see what a "optimal" dps rotation would be. When you were descibing the Sunbracers rotation I was finding myself picturing the rotation in my mind. It would be cool if you played a clip of a good or optimal dps phase/rotation while talking about it c:
If you want a very simple one just grab the Eremite from last season to pair solar surges. Fire rocket, swap to Eremite and burst till you hear your rocket reload, rinse repeat.
You can get way higher optimal damage of course but even just something as simple as that puts you up there competing in damage only really being beaten by the standard Bait and switch rockets.
Yeah I'm considering making adding an optimal DB rotation into the spreadsheet
Hothead 2: hotter head
Where the strat is literally just to let it cook.
Love this weapon. Haven't tried a Lucky Pants setup but in just general play in Coil and some Warlords Ruin, its very dependable high damage output.
I fucking love this silly shark tube
Yoo ageis what rotation you recommended for luckypants dragons breath. Im thinking celstial nighthawk to luckypants swap with wardens law dragons breath and a solar fusion like emerite or royal executioner. This good? And do u think it will do more than the stasis hunter malf setup
Yeah that works
Hey Aegis, i was wondering if you could make a guide/explanation video on Winter'sBite. Apart from the day 1 reactions of everybody, there arent many videos detailing how to use it, best use case, etc. Anyways, great video as always, I learn alot from watching your videos even though im not a "high end" player.
In my spreadsheet there is a Winterbite DPS comparison in the Single tab atm if you want to take a look at that
Hey just wondering, were these tests with or without Overload Rocket? There's supposedly a bug that makes it so weapons with Champions effects will cause Solar effects to use a weapon's combatant scaling modifier as opposed to a static one, which as far as I know would cause Ignition damage to be inflated for Rockets specifically.
Without, I made sure of it because I was seeing some weird results with seasonal mods on
Its the most fire and forget RL in the game and I love it.
Even when not on a Solar subclass the Firesprites spawned by the catalyst of Dragons Breath for some free grenade energy is nice too. Definitely an exotic that won't be leaving my loadout anytime soon.
But the best part is the ammo economy. I can use this rocket to clear a whole little section of ads while clearing another room and still have plenty during a boss dps phase.
Did you test it with the catalyst? I'm assuming so, but I'm curious on the difference damage and/or autoloading speed with the catalyst vs no catalyst
Yeah all tests were done with cata, I believe not much difference outside of passive stack gathering for roam content
yapper's breath video finally
If anyone ever used the Pimpernel in Borderlands 2, the way he is describing using DB is a similar concept. Shoot lower so the extra projectiles hit.
Pimperhab all day
Thanks for the breakdown. I don't know if I missed it in the vid, but is ember of ashes required?
Helps get ignites faster so ideally yeah
Great vid! I still do prefer dawn chorus for weapon focused loadouts. Imo Its a solid all around exotic that buffs your dawnblade super. The melee regen is noticably different when running around and in a pinch, the super damage buff is pretty solid, and
It also looks badass too with the ornament, so theres that.
But yeah, it really doesn't push the needle on dragons breaths dps. It just fits in the overall build really, really well and can output a solid amount of damage
I'm honestly just not sure where you take Daybreak over Well in 2023 D2
Dawn Chorus triples all scorch damage. If it barely moves the needle on DB, does that mean the damage from scorch is an insignificant component of DB's overall damage, compared to the ignitions and impact/blast damage?
@@mozeytownscorch damage is insignificant in general. 200% of garbage is still garbage damage. People are hyping up dawn chorus and it is not good.
I have a question, how does the catalyst affect the ability of the rocket to auto load? Does it auto load any faster due to faster fuel or nah? Is it worth grinding for?
I don't think it does? But you'll end up getting it passively anyways
I love using db with pyrogale and irukandji it’s such a satisfying rotation
Starfire protocol with a demo chill clip deliverance, spam nades and dragons breath at 5 stacks as much as possible, use deliverance for making nades, slowing for torch and waiting for dragons breath to reload itself, your solar abilities this season will add a debuff, fusion nades will do a lot of damage and help with ignitions, run the ember that spreads scorch on ignition and grenade energy on ignition, heal clip primary for benevolence, ur cooking in long damage phases, I’ve killed the legend onslaught final boss in one well consistently with this
It also mostly one shots tanks in dead messenger mission. Worked great in the rest of that activity too . Just shoot in at general direction of some ads and everything explodes.
Dragon fire with rapid fire fusions and shards of galanor on hunter goes crazy this season bro. So much fun to just throw supers like theyre grenades.
Heyo there, how to get those detailed health stats of boss like in 10:15? Is it like Overwolf app or Post-Edited?
Btw, thx for the video, literally gonna send time code for Usage and Misconceptions to every friend of my so they will know how to properly use it)
It's a2tc's damage tracker
Thank you!!!
Now im not that educated when it comes to ignition scaling, but i know things like path of burning steps boosted ignition damage (mainly used with Polaris) and I also know that ignitions will scale with things like winters guile. So does Dragons breath's ignition damage scale with things like path of burning steps, and would it even be worth using?
That's just surges afaik
@@TheAegisRelic gotcha, thanks
I think people want to use Dawn Chorus more because they want to be able to use Daybreak instead of Well. And the melee regen is more because we want to use healing grenades, so want the melee regen to help with add clearing and getting our grenade back with Impact Induction.
I uhh don't think that's why
@@TheAegisRelic There were a couple people at least using Dragon's Breath with Dawn Chorus Daybreak for damage in solo flawless Warlord's Ruin. So I do actually think that's what people wanted to see tested. Though I can't imagine it would be better than just using Sunbracers.
Apotheosis veil is good with dragons breath not because it is the best dmg, but because the ammo efficiency is high on a boss where there is no ads during dmg. I also like to use it like outbreak used to be used, use it when you run out of ammo or are very low on ammo going into a dmg phase.
It's very good for solo dungeons used in the following way. For the ogre in the new dungeon I used sunbracers for 3-4 dmg plates and veil on any plate I could not find ads.
Yeah it's definitely a valid option in some scenarios
Does anyone know if solar surge mods affect the ignitions created by dragons breath, ignitions are abilities but in this scenario they are being created by a weapon and I’m pretty sure some weapons with like voltshot count as weapon kills but idk for sure
I believe they should since it's coded as weapon damage and is affected by buffs as well
I don't think it would be good, but could you use ophidia spathe and weighted throwing knife with dragon's breath? seeing as weighted throwing knife ignites scorched targets. could there be a rotation where you get the 100% damage buff from ophidia spathe, fire dragon's breath, double knife, dodge, double knife or something?
Try it out!
Please test this more as I really enjoy this weapon and would love to know the ideal rotation.
Does the AOE of the fire blobs kill eyes on the final Warlord's Ruin boss? I'd be curious if it increasing the DPS window my any noticeable amount.
I find it's more so the ignitions that do that than the actual blobs but they can do that too, just not as consistent as tether spam from what I've seen.
The ignitions will, although not all just most
I was wondering if shooting dragons breath throwing Starfire fusion nade then spamming surrounded imperial decree is a good DPS strat I was using it on the first boss of the new dungeon in a solo run
Starfire isn’t bad but it’s outclassed by sunbracers
I’ve been running Rufus Fury with rewind, Acasias with rewind, and Dragons Breath on my solo coil and nightfall runs and having to discern which click is my rewind round reload and my DBreath auto holster has forced me to learn to count ignitions. I find myself not really using it in group activities though, because I don’t want to have to worry about multi-player scorch interactions and whatnot. I’ll just run my apex pred in groups.
I think as the secondary weapon for dmg the new strand fusion rifle is the choice. However i have found supremacy working very good for the WR boss, however im unsure wether to use BnS or FTTC + Rewind.
Any recommendation?
Fusion rifle definitely easier, Supremacy really only worth if you want to use abuse KT
@@TheAegisRelic bit late to the reply, but i thought KT isn't optimal for dps because it has a cool down?
i wonder how will dragon's breath behave when we get the new warlock super, which gives solar weapons scorch on hit...
did you have the catalyst equipped? i saw that it helps with the auto loading time
Yes and I don't think it does
Does a chill clip riptide + artifact enhance the rocket and ignitions?
if you don't freeze yeah, i think freeze still fucks up damage

TL:DW Dragons Breath is the new witherhoard, if witherhoard was a double damage apex that had a slow auto reload. Another thing to mention is DB is specifically great on solar hunter. Ember of singing for class ability regen and knife trick for a free ignition during a DB rocket, and with 70 mobility your gambler dodge comes back in time for every rocket fired
dragons breath had a big glow up after talking to anarchy and witherhoard
I assume a floating boss like Hefnd won’t be very compatible with Dragon’s Breath? I was planning to just use a surrounded Apex for my solo
Works there too
Imagine if they made a solar version of chill clip but it scorches instead of slowing. You could have a solar fushion that can cause an ignition on command.
1KV is kinda this!
Did you do any testing on Catalyst vs not catalyst? I assume all this testing was on catalyst?
All with
Wake up babe new aegis just dropped
One thing I was curious about is how surges work with dragon’s breath. Do they increase scorch/ ignition damage
If I'm not wrong, every damage boost also boost up scorch and ignition damage
Yeah they scale
Do you have any interest/need for accounts with rolls you don't have? Because I've had a Seventh Seraph Officer Revolver with Drop Mag, Forth Time's and Vorpal for a long time now and wondered had it would compare to warden's law and malfeasance for lucky pants DPS.
It's worse afaik
@@TheAegisRelic unfortunate
Would YAS with gunpowder gamble be a good option with something like Cartesian
Eh YAS ability regen is pretty bad rn
This thing is an LFG nightmare. 95% of the people won’t be using it correctly but it is good when optimized fully
I've already seen so many people spamming it or blowing themselves up, none of them ever have the catalyst, and they're always so confused as to why their damage is atrocious
@@Narfwaki understand everything else, but "almost never have the catalyst"? Yeah some people have lives...
Imo catalyst doesn’t seem to have much impact on boss damage rotations if you’re waiting on 5x shots with ember of ashes for better scorch, always seems to be loaded when the fire stops
@@ravelordnito6099then dont use dragons breath? He said that because its not worth running without catalyst
Do surge mods affect the ignitionor scorch damage?
Yeah afaik
Did you have on the artifact mod that abilities weaken?
Nah

Couldn't agree more...
spouts scorch projectiles! spouts scorch projectiles! that really is a tongue twister.
Dragon's breath is pretty juicy from what I've seen in my solo testing
Can solo two phase the ogre boss in warlords ruin with pyrogale cartesian
Do you need to have the weapon out to generate stacks?
Nah
Everyone shh! Aegis is on.
You think 2, two tailed foxs and a dragons breath would be good for helping with ignitions ?
TTF postnerf is really bad unfortunately so probably not worth
@@TheAegisRelic damn, itd be sick if 2 TTF could support the damage of that one dragons breath, kinda like a reverse ghorn where multiple people sac their damage for one. I do wish TTF was og jolt at least.
What would happen if you shot a rocket at the chest, then had someone put a div bubble around it straight after?
Good question I'm not sure haha
Pretty creative thinking I’ll definitely give you credit for that
