  • Plugged my Warlock with EMG81 straight into the Crate GX130C for this one. Gain is barely over 3 and no boost. Definitely gets in that Slayer / Seasons territory to my ears. Mics are an Audix D2 on a V30 (left) and a Heil PR20 on a Jet City Eminence (right)

    This was my first ever stack.... Never thought they would be collectible. So many memories lol

      Yeah, it's crazy how much these things draw nowadays. I personally wouldn't pay more than maybe $3-400 for one (better be mint too) but it's nice to see the fan base.

      @@low_e_music I owned a combo 25 years ago. Bought the head version back in 2018 for only $120. I absolutely love it and play it almost every day.

      @@TheRealHeavyG Killer score you got! That used to be the norm for these up until a few years ago. Now, people think the GX130C, VH140C, etc. are $1000 amps. They're definitely cool and do that early 90s thing well but at the end of the day, they are still basically just cheap solid states.

    Definitely the right flavor, and maybe it's just me, but I hear Seasons as just a bit brighter than this. Very accurate to the feel, though

      Yeah, I can dig that. The treble knob can go from top dark to buzzy kind of quickly so have to straddle that line. Should probably throw a 10 band EQ in the loop and boost them that way.

    • @prestonspicer
      @prestonspicer Год назад +1

      @ericallen77 I bet that would work really well. And it would probably make this amp able to dial any almost any tone. I've been meaning to get a 10 band and try that with my VS100 and Transtube Supreme.

      @@prestonspicer I will have to give it a try.

      @@low_e_music The sweep on this is interesting, you got the tone really close without an EQ. But that Slayer mid range is here. If a person would play this amp they would know it’s impossible to get 100%.

      @@Jaundice__ Yeah, it's never going to be 100% but the vibe is certainly there.

    I got the combo version, but my question is can I plug the combo version into two cabs???

    • @low_e_music
      @low_e_music  Год назад +2

      As far as I know, the combo is just the head but upside down and in a combo cab. It should have 4 speaker outs on it, 2 for the left side and 2 for the right. Just unplug the combo speakers and then you can connect whatever external cabs you want. Just make sure to keep each side at a 4 ohm or higher load.

      @@low_e_music thanks a lot. The impedance thing I got it down already.

      @@Theshark15z Good deal. These thing sound so much better through a sealed cab than in a combo.

    That chord right there.
    What fret is that?

    • @low_e_music
      @low_e_music  Год назад

      I am not even sure if that's the right chord for that part but I like how it sounds. It is just fret 4 on the E string, 6 on the A string, and 8 on the D string.
