I think this is an hidden gem, seriously underrated. Sure it's a challenge and sure the card game kinda sucks but I had a blast playing it with my friend a few years back. There's a lot to discover and it's as infuriating as it's good.
In the UK we didn’t need mascots to stop us getting dominos within 30 minutes - we had incompetent staff and terrible delivery drivers to take care of that 😂
Hey now, Domino's actually stopped the 30 mins or less thing because their drivers kept getting hurt in accidents because of it, because it was a dumbass thing by Domino's to try and do. I wouldn't blame the drivers. They're the ones with the shit piled on them by corporate. Getting a pizza in under an hour is still great by my book, and they've always managed to get it to me that quick if I've ordered from them
Does their sauce still taste like ketchup? Ten or more years ago they ran a TV spot with a customer complaining that their sauce tasted like ketchup and they promised to work on it. My next time to try their pizza was about two years later and on the first bite I was thinking "This tastes like ketchup" as I immediately remembered the commercial. Some things just never change.
You'd be great at all video games if you beat it. We could only beat it with Game Genie. Funny I get through Ghost and Goblins without it but not Yo! Noid.
(Not so) funfact: Dominos stopped using the Noid as their mascot after a schizophrenic actually named Mr. Noid took the managers of a Dominos restaurant hostage at gunpoint, believing that the character was created to persecute him.
I remember being a kid in like 90/91. came down with the flu really bad... dad stayed home with me, he went out and rented this game and we just laid on the carpet playing it until we beat it, to this day that is the ONLY time my dad has sat and played a video game with me.
Glad you pointed out the differences between this and the game it was skinned over from. I find those kinds of comparisons fascinating (like SMB2/DDPanic). Seeing how shoehorn an existing bit of code into a new idea just by swapping the graphics makes so many things make a bit more sense, usually. ;)
Loved loved loved this game. Never owned it but it was one we rented dozens of times. I had a few Noid toys and the commercials were some of my fave as a kid. Unfortunately I grew up in a small town and never had Domminos until I was a teenager. . .
yo! noid was always one of my favorite nes games. i guess because i grew up eating pizza from diffrent pizza places. and the character of the noid looked really cool 2 me. i loved the funny claymation commercials he was in. i mostly remember the commercials running on tv at the time i was eating pizza from everywhere. chuck e cheese, billy bobs wonderland, pizza hut, little ceesers, and ofcourse dominos. even random pizza places in the malls i visited, during arcade runs. i made it a habit 2 eat pizza, play games at arcades, and when i got home, finished off by playing this game everytime i ate pizza. this game was all about pizza. 2 the point where everytime i played it, i got hungry 4 pizza. so u can guess that even if it wasnt dominos pizza i ate, i still ate pizza from somewhere.
When I first saw how the boss fights in Kamen no ninja Hanamaru worked and compared it to my memories of playing Yo! Noid while growing up, I was impressed. The editing they did to turn it into a pizza-eating contest was awesome, swapping the hero with the villain and doing the same for your cards… and how they took advantage of the health bars. Blew my mind that the player’s pizza bar was actually the health bar for the boss, and that stuff like pepper was actually a healing potion or whatnot. Damned creative use of what they had.
I remember playing Yo Noid! There was something quite compelling about the game that made me just *NEED* to finish it, so I popped in my Game Genie to give me infinite lives and I went to work. The game was still hard, but at least infinite lives was enough to get through. I completed it in an afternoon, and I enjoyed it. There were these weird hidden bonus games you could find if you killed a certain enemy or hit a certain area of the map with your yo-yo that gave a good chance to earn powerups and extra lives, but there was no guaranteed way of them showing up through repeated trial and error.
Fun fact: In 1989 a guy named Kenneth Lamar Noid took 2 Domino's pizza employees hostage because he thought the ads were a personal attack on him claiming that the Domino's owner stole his name. He eventually got hungry and had the employees make him 2 large pizzas and a salad. They escaped as he ate.
Man, I remember renting this several times as a kid in the early 90s. I actually didn't even know who the Noid was til much later because Domino's retired him when I was around 2 or 3. Good video and nice to know its background.
You... You found my gaming white whale. I played this as a kid, and then almost promptly forgot what it was called. Every single time I've tried to find this game some variation of Mario Bros has shown up. You're the real MVP.
Childhood memories ahoy! This was always one of my favorite games on the old grey breadbox back in the day, couldnt tell ya why tho considering I didnt really care much for the Noid or Dominos pizza for that matter lol. Still, nice to see an old favorite again and for what its worth I agree, its a surprisingly solid game for something so "corporate shill" in the end lol. Thanks for the video and have a great day yourself!
Growing up in Brazil I have never even heard about Domono's pizza or the Noid, but I sure loved this game (and the NES-torture that came with it). But you know what else I didn't know until today? That this game was a re-skin! Thank you SNES drunk! I'll have a cold beer in your honor today.
This game is a lot of fun, if you like a challenge, remember what's for some is not for others, you might love this game or not, I personally love this game, it's not like every other platformer out there that uses the same old boss fights and easy jumping from one platform to another.
Long-time viewer, first-time commenter -- love the channel! I always found it interesting how downplayed the Domino's aspect is of this game. You get their name in the legal lines, and I believe there was a coupon that came with the game -- but that's it. Those pizzas could have (should have?) very easily been branded Domino's, but they weren't. This is most likely due to the fact that Domino's had abandoned the Noid mascot by this point, and for shockingly tragic reasons (just look up "Kenneth Lamar Noid" if you don't know what I'm talking about). Keep it up! Love the channel!
I liike the soundtrack. It reminds me playing this game as a kid, barely being able to finish the first level. Since we dont have "dominos" or whatever in my country, it was just a very weird character for us, which was cool because it adds diversity.
I always wondered about this game. For some reason, despite not being available in my part of the world, references to this game ended up on a lot of promo-artwork for Nintendo stuff, even including the cover of the Nintendo Guide Book.
This is one of the games I grew up with. I have no idea why my parents bought this one - maybe it was because I saw the Noid on the commercials and then saw the game and begged for it (?) who knows, What I do know is I have memories of playing this and Phantom Fighter (I had terrible taste in NES games) at my grandmothers house and to this day I own the game and play it from time to time to take me back to those days! Thanks for the, as always, great review!
Surprised that I don't see anyone talking about Yo! Noid 2 in the comments! If you're into PS1 style platformers you should do a quick search on google for this. It's a great fan made game that's short but free and more importantly very fun!
Great video! They could have added at least one boss fight...maybe the Little Caesars pizza guy at the end of level 14? He was around at the time this game was cloned.
The Noid was not about the 30 minute promise. The Noid wanted to squish your pizza box which would cause pizza to get stuck on the top of it, and you would "Avoid the Noid" because Dominos began to use a now standard plastic stand in the center of the pizza.
I have both games and I never put that together until now lol. Boss battles would’ve really added a lot of value. Def could’ve been worse. Keep up the good work!
Thanks for the review. I haven't played this game in about thirty years. I'll agree that there were worse games out at the time and I believe I rented this a second time despite completing it on the first rental simply because it had the right mix of challenge and character/s.
The hit detection on the water level was very frustrating. Just because you can see the platform coming up doesn’t mean you won’t die by water. That platform needs to be well above the water! Otherwise, this was actually pretty fun. Challenging but not impossible.
I'm not old enough to remember the noid i just learned about him a couple years ago, but I never knew he had a video game developed by Capcom! Capcom tried everything in the 80's/90's it seems😂
I still own this game! It's got its flaws, sure, but still a really fun play through. Just a light hearted, but tough platformer that always puts a smile on my face. Even if it's not the best.
Wasn't there a chester cheetah game too? Lol, back when devs loved their product placement a little too much, eh? Thanks for helping keep retro games alive, there are whole generations of people out there who won't get to experience these gems!
Hey SNES drunk if you already haven't checked out FTL: Faster Than Light or Darkest Dungeon on Steam you should, they are both 70% off for the next 2 days and are amazing 2d games
Don’t avoid this noid! Amazing game, don’t listen to this guy. A skateboarding level is very 90s corporate mascot. And it’s a capcom game to boot. I didn’t know it was a reskin. Thanks for the vid.
wow! completely forgot about this one and seems like i’m better off... looks pretty forgettable based on the review. however, there was a PC game at the time called Avoid The Noid that my sister and i still both reminisce about, way better than this
This was one of the last games I picked up for my NES before the SNES was released in 1991. It is a decent game, but Jesus, it would be so much better without the tedious pizza eating contests. I never did beat it, but I do still own it. I just don't have the time or patience to attempt to play through it in my old age because as soon as that first pizza contest pops up, I shut off the system.
I think this is an hidden gem, seriously underrated. Sure it's a challenge and sure the card game kinda sucks but I had a blast playing it with my friend a few years back. There's a lot to discover and it's as infuriating as it's good.

😂😂 so true.
The pepper doesn’t make his pizza taste like crap, it just makes it taste like Dominos Pizza
Boom.. I was gonna say the same thing.. Something aint rigjt with their pizza
Ok, that was the funniest shit I've heard today!
Peppino would like to have a word with you
I'm 35 and had this one as a kid. Spent a decent amount of time with it, but never beat it. I was (and still am) terrible at videogames lol.
You'd be great at all video games if you beat it. We could only beat it with Game Genie. Funny I get through Ghost and Goblins without it but not Yo! Noid.
But your enthusiam and enjoyment in the hobby is what makes you a true winner ;).
Same here. Still garbage at games, still love them. I definitely dont bother playing online because of it.
Hey don't feel bad! Lots of folks are too
Since CGR left RUclips I must say you're becoming my favorite retro gaming channel. Keep up the good work!
I always loved this game as a kid. Still have a copy of it to this day. Lol
(Not so) funfact: Dominos stopped using the Noid as their mascot after a schizophrenic actually named Mr. Noid took the managers of a Dominos restaurant hostage at gunpoint, believing that the character was created to persecute him.
You sir just won the random comment of the day!
I’ve played this game and felt like the Noid’s actual backstory was more interesting.
Now my comment I just made feels redundant. :-) This is almost certainly why there's no Domino's branding in the game outside of the legal lines.
I was waiting for this comment lol
Must've been real paraNOID
I remember being a kid in like 90/91. came down with the flu really bad... dad stayed home with me, he went out and rented this game and we just laid on the carpet playing it until we beat it, to this day that is the ONLY time my dad has sat and played a video game with me.

I’ve been waiting 30 years for this game to deliver.

What kind of monster doesn't like red pepper on a pizza?
+MrDeedsly
One that was created by the evildoers at Domino's Pizza.
Now he became the NES Drunk!
I rented this game so much back in the day. I have never seen some of these stages until now.
I thank you. Keep up the great work!

The guy wound up committing suicide as well.
@@Helvetica_Scenario Indeed. I believe that he killed himself in 1995.
@@aakao2593 Just dark and tragic. The wikipedia article says he was in a psychiatric facility of some kind before that as well.
What a fun fact
Update, Mr Ballen just covered the story today on his channel. So not just dark, and tragic, but also Strange, Dark, and Mysterious 😂
Man, I remember renting this several times as a kid in the early 90s. I actually didn't even know who the Noid was til much later because Domino's retired him when I was around 2 or 3. Good video and nice to know its background.

I like this game! It's hard but still kind of fun.
Growing up in Brazil I have never even heard about Domono's pizza or the Noid, but I sure loved this game (and the NES-torture that came with it). But you know what else I didn't know until today? That this game was a re-skin! Thank you SNES drunk! I'll have a cold beer in your honor today.
The Noid was a US only mascot for Dominoes pizza. They probably didn’t have Dominoes in Brazil either
Kudos snes drunk. 3:50 sweet and to the point. Nobody else on RUclips is concerned about not wasting your time. Enjoyed the video.

I love how they used to re-purpose games for an American audience... So interesting.
+SHMUP Master
Apparently, Americans wouldn't "get" a dude with a raptor on his shoulder. Smh...

No, I insist you have a great day.
Why don't you BOTH have a great day!!!
Have a great day This I command!
I remember liking this game as a kid...i just played it a few months ago on a emulator and have no idea how i didnt go insane back then hahaha.
Thank you for pronouncing "mischievous" correctly.

Love it when you review these oddball titles
00:59 John Mayer? The musician? lol
2:36 that's Flappy Birds
You're right, man
Love your content. Thanks for being you.
Amazing that you can fit a full review like this in a video less than 4 minutes long.
I owned this. It was challenging, annoying and fun!
That is the hardest game i've ever played
But fun
Bro, in the japanese version that boss riding a frog looks like he would put up an awesome fight
I had this game. This game was tons of fun when I had it. I should add this back to my collection again 👍👍
I used to love that game
The Noid was not about the 30 minute promise. The Noid wanted to squish your pizza box which would cause pizza to get stuck on the top of it, and you would "Avoid the Noid" because Dominos began to use a now standard plastic stand in the center of the pizza.

Man! I used to love this game when I was a kid ... and the pizza eating contest was entertaining. Thanks for the review
I rented this more than once and have absolutely no memory of anything past the first level. A common NES experience with these lesser-knowns.
Sweet, can't wait for the review of yo noid 2
I loved the Chesta Cheeta games on the SNES. They were super good.
His propeller stage looks like Flappy Bird, heh.
I prefer the Japanese version. Looks way more interesting to me. Thank you for the mini review and I am hope you have a great rest of your day.
Tbh I think both are neat
I still enjoy the hell out of Yo Noid... didn't realize there was 14 levels.... I can't get past 2
Good jobs as always, ur videos are top notch
I remember this one from childhood!
It was so freaking cheap so shout out for making it so far that's amazing
SNES drunk, you have officially annoyed the Noid with this review.
you've annoyed me that you didnt realize it was "avoid the noid"
@@cupris haha I do know the catch phrase, I was just riffing off Noid coming from annoyed.
Great video SNES drunk. 16 bits era is the best so far in all gaming era.
Ever play Yo! Noid 2? It is a very special game.
In the '90s, keeping people from eating Domino's was considered a public service.
True statement. I don't know anyone that enjoys eating cardboard.
One of my personal favorites
I feel like you're burying the lede here with the existence of a "Dark Noid".
This shakes the Noid lore to its very foundations
The Dark Noid Rises
Dark Noid Zero. Sorry, it’s a Capcom, game, so that joke was inevitable.
Wait until you find out about Punished "Venom" Noid.
If only Yo Noid was giving the finger in the thumbnail
I will forever love this game just because it ended up spawning the greatest fan sequel game that shall ever be.
Low key love this game.
Remember when Marge said, "Avoid the Noid"?
You have a great rest of your day!
I loved this game as a kid
Think I'll get a copy of this not sure if I'll complete it or not but sure looks like it's worth spending a day or so playing
I grew up with this game... It was great!
Thanks for the review. I haven't played this game in about thirty years. I'll agree that there were worse games out at the time and I believe I rented this a second time despite completing it on the first rental simply because it had the right mix of challenge and character/s.
You should have looked at the speedrun for this. We discovered a glitch to help speed up the mini propeller area. ;)
I loved this game as a kid, and the Noid game for C64 too. Dominos was better at making video games than they were at making pizza.
I remember playing this as a kid and never getting past the first couple levels. Man this game was hard.
The hit detection on the water level was very frustrating. Just because you can see the platform coming up doesn’t mean you won’t die by water. That platform needs to be well above the water!
Otherwise, this was actually pretty fun. Challenging but not impossible.
This is one of the greatest games ever made ❤🍕
I'm not old enough to remember the noid i just learned about him a couple years ago, but I never knew he had a video game developed by Capcom! Capcom tried everything in the 80's/90's it seems😂
Duuuuuude I remember this shit!!!!! My mom has to drive me to the neighboring town so I could rent it! What a waaaaaaste!!!!! 😂
yo! yo! yo! noid!, hahahaha very good video man. I love the noid. I really really like him. thanks for this video
I still own this game! It's got its flaws, sure, but still a really fun play through. Just a light hearted, but tough platformer that always puts a smile on my face. Even if it's not the best.
Really interesting to see they pulled a Mario 2!
Did anybody else that play this game have it glitch and stop working whenever you used the pepper card in the card game?
Wasn't there a chester cheetah game too? Lol, back when devs loved their product placement a little too much, eh? Thanks for helping keep retro games alive, there are whole generations of people out there who won't get to experience these gems!
Hey SNES drunk if you already haven't checked out FTL: Faster Than Light or Darkest Dungeon on Steam you should, they are both 70% off for the next 2 days and are amazing 2d games
Gotta go dig through the attic, see if I still have a copy of this.
I HAVE BEEN SUMMONED!
Don’t avoid this noid! Amazing game, don’t listen to this guy. A skateboarding level is very 90s corporate mascot. And it’s a capcom game to boot. I didn’t know it was a reskin. Thanks for the vid.
I'll have a great rest of my day. But only because you told me to!
One of my first nes games. Still love it. But man is it hard.
Man, I could really go for a fresh hot pie from Pizza Hut now.
This needs to be on that Nintendo Switch Online NES lineup.
Digitarou Rigths issues won't allow that. And domino retared the character due to real life incendent.
I love this game it's so fun
wow! completely forgot about this one and seems like i’m better off... looks pretty forgettable based on the review. however, there was a PC game at the time called Avoid The Noid that my sister and i still both reminisce about, way better than this
This was one of the last games I picked up for my NES before the SNES was released in 1991. It is a decent game, but Jesus, it would be so much better without the tedious pizza eating contests. I never did beat it, but I do still own it. I just don't have the time or patience to attempt to play through it in my old age because as soon as that first pizza contest pops up, I shut off the system.
Guess who’s back
How could you ask such a question? It is the Noid!
Love this game !
That boss at 2:44 sure looks like a slightly obese Little Samson.
of course it is!
Did the noid just flip the bird for that clear screen attack?
