it's even more amazing when you know he never took courses, he learnt by himself, which might be allows him to think of unconventionnal patterns when composing
I heard him just improvising before a concert a few years ago. I thought afterwards I wish I had recorded it. Just to make sure what I heard was real. I've heard many pianists, but this one was something extra.
Chiquitita is one of my ABBA favorites because my childhood nickname was Tita and my dad sang and I identified myself. The most beautiful female voices, the group has one of the best tunings in history and the most beautiful songs. Abba's songs have something dramatic and a wealth of incredible nuances.
I'm so glad you were here again to continue with your reactions to ABBA songs, another of my ABBA Top 5! several things to say about "Chiquitita" and it's context in 1979 "Chiquitita" is a beautiful song, it has hopeful lyrics, a melody that starts very soft with Agnetha's solo, then grows and explodes in a powerful chorus; Agnetha and Anni Frida's vocal harmonies are of excellence It allows us to check how excellent singers Agnetha and Frida are and what harmonies of excellence they achieve. It stands out especially when they stretch the monosyllables with great quality and beauty "Chiquitita" was composed especially for the UNICEF Concert, premiered that night (January 9, 1979) and its royalties are eternal for UNICEF "Chiquitita" was ABBA's greatest success in Latin America, that prompted ABBA to record it in Spanish, and its success was so extraordinary that in the following year ABBA recorded a full album with their best songs entirely in Spanish ("Chiquitita" in Spanish is the biggest ABBA hit and #1 in My country Argentina) "Chiquitita" (little girl in spanish) is one of the ABBA songs with tittle in spanish: Hasta mañana (1974) Fernando (1976) Chiquitita (1979) Andante andante (1980) This promotional video was in February 1979 in Swizterland (ABBA goes for a TV Special) It's the only promotional video that ABBA made without Sweden (at these time the blonde singer Agnetha and the guitarist songwriter Björn was separated two mount ago) I wish to see you soon in another reactions to ABBA songs GOD bless you and stay safe My best regards from Buenos Aires, Argentina
I would sing this to my daughter when she was young and she got upset. This song brings me to tears every time I hear it because I think of my daughter crying and me trying to fix it.
The guys and girls from the Seventies and Eighties were all taken by the Abba songs. It is great that right now 40 years later young people are still taken by Abba.
This song is very emotional for me. One of my closest childhood friends would do the Greek sirtaki dance with me and my mom to this amazing and rhythmic song. She was years later in 2004, killed in a mass murder and it haunts me. I had stopped listening to it for many years. It brings me back to those sad but also beautiful memories. Thank you for appreciating it. ❤️😢
I've actually came to the conclusion that ABBA may be the greatest group to ever exist. Simply put, there is literally NO ONE who dislikes them. Some folk love them, like me, others enjoy them, some don't mind them....but I know of no one who actively dislikes them. The absolute masters of upbeat emotional pop.
The other song you're thinking about could be "Hasta Mañana" or even maybe, "Fernando". "Fernando" (1976) became one of ABBA's best-selling singles (10 million copies), topping the charts in at least 13 countries.
You're the second person I have ever seen refer to "Hasta Mañana", my personal favourite song of theirs. And that's after seeing hundreds of reactions to ABBA and reading most of the comments. I was beginning to think I had imagined it and it didn't really exist.
ABBA is so distinctive that even if you don't know the song, you listen to the first three, four chords, you know it is theirs. And the combination of the timbers of Agnetha and Frida is amazing. The video is blurred, but we can see two things that always catch my attention: Frida struggling with the wind that keeps making her hair go into her mouth and that person walking behind them. hahahaha I am glad to see that you saw these details, too. Another big hit of them here in Brazil and all over the world is Dancing Queen. Have you already reacted to it? A friend of mine works as a DJ and he told me this is one of the songs he plays when he wants everybody to reach the dancing floor. He always says it is an excellent way to have a party started. BTW, how about reacting to some other older stuff? How about The Bee Gees, Supertramp, Jethro Tull just to start? Stay safe! It seems that our fighting the damn virus is getting good results. I can't wait to get back into "normality".
In spite of the popular idea that ABBA were a fun pop group, their lyrics were often quite dark. Yes, they should have filmed a warm country video for this song but considering their fame at the time & need for travel, that was impractical. As other's probably said, this was part of a TV Special in the Austrian or Swiss Alps. Frida's hair and how she deals with it blowing in her face is the star for me. Such an experienced and profesional performer.
HELLO FRANK. BLESSINGS AND SALUTATIONS FROM FORT WORTH TEXAS AND MY FAMILY IN PUERTO RICO. WAO. THIS SONG IS SO SO BEUTIFUL. I SING THIS SONG WHEN MY SONS WAS LITLE. I STILL 💕 LOVE THIS SONG. I HAVE THE RECORD OF THIS GROUP. ABBA IS A GREAT SINGERS.
Thanks for the ABBA. Someone already mentioned this songs ties to UNICEF so I won't go into that. When you were trying to describe how they blended uptempo and melancholic themes in their songs your spot on. ABBA was inducted into RRHOF in I think 2010. Benny Andersson's acceptance speech is wonderful and insightful in his description of of their music. Watch it if you want real insight. Anyway thanks again. It's fun to watch new people discover and gain respect for ABBA.
RRHOF? Very well deserved. Thanks for this info. I will check Benny's acceptance speech. Is BeeGees there, too? Another great band with a lot of unforgettable hits.
@@raulafonsosoler6228 Yeah I think they are the presenter or whatever you call it. The thing that always stikes me about the ABBA members is how humble and down to earth they all are. Another nice clip on YT is I think 2016 the fanclub is at the museum in Stockholm. Benny walks in and just starts talking to them. He ends it by playing "Thank You For The Music" and they all sing it. Talk about being approachable.
To me this is ABBAs best song. Specially due to the instrumental part (like in the end).. I can’t believe you have never listened to it before this!! But, better late than never
Abba created many different ways to tape their voices and sounds, snow from Sweden....Atnietha did not like to fly so many of their videos took place on their home town. Chiquitita rights were donated from ABBA to UNISEF. As a group they did amazing music.
The all time best selling single in Mexico up to date , in both languages , still it’s a tradition to sing a “serenata” to the Virgin of Guadalupe every 12th of December , in all temples and most mass choruses deliver Chiquitita among other songs .

Frank, you're a champ! You say what I'm thinking one second before I can articulate it. I'm re-discovering Abba, like many, I guess. It's not as simple as it seems...
it's not a music video ( or promoclip as they was called) This clip was taped by the BBC during recording of the show ABBA in Switzerland, broadcast across Europe at Easter 1979, although this clip did not feature in the broadcast, being intended for a Christmas programme The clip of the group filmed outside with the snowman was originally intended for this Christmas show, that's why there is a Snowman To this day, 50% of the proceeds from the song go to UNICEF in recognition of the "International Year of the Child" in 1979

Wow the day before you came is really heavy. I LOVE Abba, and Slipping Through my Fingers is one of my favorites because of the lyrics. But The Day Before you Came... The melody as a whole seemed scary. The person in the song was having a normal average day and then "HE" came. It's not a happy, hopeful song. Please react to their live performance of this song from Wembley in 1979. I would also like to hear your thoughts of I`m a marionette and Eagle, the long album version.
I am really bummed, how come you don't know ABBA? They are one of the most famous pop bands in the 80s and 70s and from the looks of it, you were probably alive around that time. Plus, it is also quite interesting that you are Italian and European which most Europeans would know ABBA. I'm just lost or something.

several things to say about "Chiquitita" and it's context in 1979
"Chiquitita" is a beautiful song, it has hopeful lyrics, a melody that starts very soft with Agnetha's solo, then grows and explodes in a powerful chorus; Agnetha and Anni Frida's vocal harmonies are of excellence

Listen to Hole In Your Soul from the album ABBA The Album...after Chiquitita you won't believe your ears
Blessings from Portugal. Try "Does your mother now". It will be a suprise for you... Of course, for you.

Fascinante, vibrante com amplificação sonora incrível , adorável único !
I am really bummed, how come you don't know ABBA? They are one of the most famous pop bands in the 80s and 70s and from the looks of it, you were probably alive around that time. Plus, it is also quite interesting that you are Italian and European which most Europeans would know ABBA. I'm just lost or something.
É contagiante assistir você reagindo ..uhuuuu..
Come on,, they are not Sabrina Salerno,,,,,hahaha,,,,,,,,,,LOVE FROM SWEDEN❤❤❤
ABBA the best of the best.🎼🎼🎼🎼🌈🌈🌈❤️✨👌🏻
Simplicity? The songwriting, musicianship and production are all of the scale.
