Just soak it in water so it bends better. That's what I do and it always works for me.

Show 'em how Doug... After I have made my roundovers, and attached top and bottom, I like to fill my kerf cuts with rundo, then drop 1 piece of roving over it roll out the bubbles and call it done.. for my own peace of mind.

i love that fab table.
Doug I know you hate these typ of comments, but I got a idea for making the top part seamless looking and airtight because the outter wall has slits in it on the curves. Use another curved birch (I think that was the wood you've used) and make it the size of the current top part + additional centimeters so it covers the outter plywood wall so it covers the slits in the plywood and it looks seamless 8)

Just a heads up for your next kerfs, cut perpendicular to the grain and not parallel. It is much less likely to snap when perpendicular
+DubNDodge well I didn't have a choice because I needed the full length of the board to wrap all the way around the sides and front, so I decided MDF so that the front and sides could be all one piece.
SoundmanCA I don't know about in the US but one inch birch sheets only come in 5x5 foot sheets. MDF is 4x8 sheets. Everyone needs to stop busting his balls on how to build a box. We all have our ways of doing things. It's not how I do it either but its nice to see how others go about it. Enjoy watching it for what it is. So far I would say everything he has done has worked out just fine.

Got WIN ISD, is an amazing program! Can finally design a box that'll let my 12" hit 20Hz effectively. Also using it to redesign a pair of isobariks I've got, adding a port, should hit mid 30s from dual 8's

instead of bending use that fancy CNC to cut the bend in 3/4 height. cut several and stack them to the height you need. work smarter not harder. you have the tools.

soundmanca I don't want to tell you how to design your box but on the smaller lower tuned section I would go with a smaller port and keep the high tuned larger section with the same big port
mostly because of cone control you don't want that sub flapping in the wind like rafa's mom's cooter lips

Are you worried at all about the back of the box where the slots are cut breaking apart with how hard its gonna beat? Keep in mind i know nothing about building speaker boxes or how much pressure may be inside. I guess the port holes direct enough percussion so the box will stay intact.

doug I dnt know if it'll work but try throwing a wet rag over the wood and hit it with an iron, I used to make bends on guitars like that

I know this is an old video, but I'm a new viewer and catching up on your older stuff. Do you know they make bending plywood? No kerfs required. Just wrap and nail. I'd build it up with multiple layers, glued together.
