One of my favourite places.. I camp a couple of times a year on the fields to you left, when facing Parkhouse Hill. Just got new facilities and not to far to go for sunrise :-)
Hello Eddie....Greetings from Adelaide, one of your colonial cousins....laughs. The day you filmed this segment is similar to our day here today. Except this is our winter and we expect some dull cold days but this is your summer. As you say it's "character building" Full credit to you for going out on these days. Thanks for your vlogs....Always good for a laugh and learning some of your skills in photographing landscapes....Cheers
Very good, part of my life in the 80s 90s I lived in Sheffield and worked as a fireman in GMC i finally got a transfer to SYFR Elm Lane Sheffield lane top , behind NGH, i lived in Millhouse and then BannerCross, i have two paintings of BannerCross shops the cheese shop and Millhouse Springfield road, i have many Photos of the area and Little Johns Grave, Hatchersage, Hope, Castletown with Winnets pass rising up to the left of Mam Tor the slipping cliff and Blue John mines and the other that has a boat involved, it was a lovely few years traveling the different routes, Edale, Dam busters, Snakes Pass, and further to the left Buxton and many other little villages and churches, with great stories, The Plague, The Bouncing Bomb, Little John, Chatsworth House on the river bank, The pendulum, rock climbing, cycling, walking, Orienteering, camping, Off road mountain bikes, traditions and superstitions, history new rules and laws, scenic vistas, and coming from Manchester Stockport has a lot in common, as does Rome, seven hills, i was a butcher boy in the mid 60s! But coming home over the back route from Hathersage and there is a vista spot from the car, and it used to warm my heart, like Sea Coast does, Drone or in my day Remote controlled planes, oh Hand gliding, and fishing, it was my life for many years, waking up to see there had been snow fall and deciding i might make it over, by using the Tideswell Moor! side, the name escapes me but its much lower gadiants, long but less steep, i got over by requesting the police allow me two attempts, i had a Alpha Sud, clover leaf and i put it in second gear and as soon as i could 3rd got the traction and got through, into Chapel en le Frith, of course there is Bakwell, Eyam , Great Hucklow, Baslow. Rivlin Valley and beyond Hillsborgh, Middlewood Hospital and i used to go to Kinder Scout with my brother take our bikes. I collect cameras and so couple the two.
Millers Dale/Chee Dale, Stanton Moor, and I’ll chuck in Padley Gorge for beginners/safe bet if the weather is bad. I’ll keep the best secret…..for now.😊
Hi Eddie you did look proper pi**ed off at the tree 😂 I've been to this location a couple of times, as I was telling Craig on his vlog, once in snow but also heavy fog so visibility was poor (I even slid about 50m down the side whilst stupidly walking with my camera on my tripod in icy conditions!! The other time I visited the lighting was poor and only marginally better than what you had. Again as on Craig's vlog I said my top Peak District location is actually an area, around Padley Gorge, Surprise View, Longshaw Estate and Big Moor (White Edge) where I'll be the first weekend of October to photograph the Red Deer Rut. I'm off to photograph Heather myself next weekend, not sure where yet but it was looking great up on The Roaches on Tuesday
I suppose that would work but I have no clue. I had a few walkers state that Parkhouse was ‘the’ Dragon’s Back. Which is fair because Chrome is already a cool name.

That's a fantastic base to explore from
Another great video Ed. Keep em coming
Cheers Paul.

Glad you enjoyed it. I would come to Australia but I’m allergic to death at every corner from wildlife and flora.
Also, I would just lie on a beach.

I had to look up Alfasud! My god, trying to picture those old vehicles negotiating the Peak! That’s a story in itself. Thanks for that mate. Awesome.
Now reside in New Forest but traveled for Three years from IOW had a caravan on a farm near Dronfield!
Padley definitely, Win Hill, Curbar/Baslow Edge, Owler Tor, Monsal Dale all great. Many others obviously.
I think Craig and I should hit Monsal. Good shout.
Millers Dale/Chee Dale, Stanton Moor, and I’ll chuck in Padley Gorge for beginners/safe bet if the weather is bad. I’ll keep the best secret…..for now.😊
Ha! Secrets! We’ll track you. Just not uphill.

Definitely up for the Deer Rut. I think a lot of the top places are going to be very close to my choices too.
My top 3 so far that I have visited. 1. Padley Gorge 2. Edale Walk to Grindslow Knoll area. 3. Wyming Brook (Autumn).
Padley, Wyrming and The Roaches pretty much cover the bases for me. Lea Wood and that area is a strong contender too.
I always thought that they were both called The Dragons Back.
I suppose that would work but I have no clue. I had a few walkers state that Parkhouse was ‘the’ Dragon’s Back. Which is fair because Chrome is already a cool name.
