The rebels had only a dozen spies on the capital of the Galactic Empire, which also houses the headquarters of a number of important agencies and organisations, and has a population of over one trillion? Damn, the Imperial Security Bureau must be really good at their jobs.
ISB was likely a pretty large organization also makes sense to keep a very close eye on your capital

I guess he saw how out of their league the rebels were and no longer supported them, but still supporter the same cause they did.
I’m wondering if he deliberately had some of his worst guards seeing as they would’ve all died in the explosion, to minimise waste but it would also somewhat explain being able to defeat them.

The vid says the rebels are the highest trained soldiers. That's why they defeated the guard. All be it one but still impressive.
This is why Palpatine keeps it an absolute secret that he is a Sith and is able to use the Force. It means people are always going to try assassination plots against him that are never gonna work, because he has the fuckin Force, which they don't take account of.
You know he loves it when people try thinking “hah just an old man” just to pull a lightsaber and one shot them or lightning bolt them

Not only did Palpatine eliminate a huge rebel threat and discredited them serverly. He also strengthend his rule by manipulating the people's resolve so that they thought they needed him as a leader to face this "threat" . All the while distracting them from any discontent they might be feeling about his ruling.
A true evil mastermind any sith should respect.

Oh yeah this is big brain time.
This was actually an awesome story. I like how you do canonical videos as well as Extended Universe lore. I don’t entirely agree with Disney’s decisions on what is and isn’t EU material but seeing Canon vids are actually a nice touch. As much as I am a fan of the EU, more vids on canon content does carry significant merit.

They seem to do better in canon comics and books than the flims. I don’t accept the flims in my canon but I can live with the comics and see legends and canon as alternate verses
I have a feeling the artists/storytellers of these comics have more creative freedom.
But at the same time there is an overarching plot. Unlike Legends which was largely a hodgepodge and massive power creep.
I can't blame him for trying to take out Palpatine. If you have an opportunity to take out somebody like him then take that opportunity
And he had no idea the Emperor was a Sith Lord.
And he tanked his force lightning and lived to tell the tale, thats better than what we can say for Windu, Vader, etc... characters who got one shotted by it.

It was more he was just bloody smart, he pretty much made the future right up until the end, where his plan to make Luke his new apprentice went completely wrong in the most unpredictable way.

This felt very comical, it feels even more comical when you think about Palpatine having a body double. I guess he has his own LucasFilm make up studio for the occasion.
To be fair, he did come from a planet where it was common for their Kings and Queens to have dozens of body doubles at the ready 24/7.

Risking all their available assets/agents in Coruscant for a huge gamble of successfully killing Palpatine was just so stupid, even if they didn't know that he was a Sith that was impossible to kill for normal men. You have the valuable resources to gather intel in the innermost territory of your enemy, assets that probably took time to just be established there, and you are just gonna gamble all those lives away based on one haphazard on the spot decision of one man? I'll certainly take the chance of approving the assassination of the biggest enemy if there's an opportunity, but sending all those valuable agents just on a whim? It's so dumb I can't immerse myself with the story.
The Rebel Alliance did view the republic through rose colored glasses (at best) and was led by greedy politicians who got butthurt over Palpatine taking away their private slush funds for public use

Has there ever been a time where the empire or even just a couple stormtroopers acted generally kind to loyal citizens?
The movies are filtered through a Rebel lens which paints the Imperials as Judge Dredd fanatics while the alliance is always presented as “heroes fighting for freedom and apple pie” despite their terrorist acts

There seems to be a lot of confusion around this topic and with all legends being taken out of the lore is there any thing in the Canon that answers the question?
