UPDATE#1: One of our viewers mentioned that the 2011 Model has a compression spring when taking the cap off the filter. Please watch out for that since it may fly off and hit you in the face. Safety glasses in always a good idea.
UPDATE:#2 Also another viewer asked for the size socket for oil drain bolt. It's 13mm.
UPDATE#3: Another viewer says his 2014 T&C Model: takes 6 quarts of oil; oil plug size 1/2" ; oil filter 5/16" ; check oil when it's hot
I was looking for a video to confirm the oil filter. Thanx. One of the most legit instructional video I've every seen.
Thanks. Glad it helped. And thanks for the visit & stay safe.
I’m recently separated from my husband, and in an effort to become independent, I’m changing my own oil. My friend’s husband will be helping me and he recommended I watch this video first. You described everything so clearly! Thank you 😊
Awesome! So glad my video can help. You can do it!
@@jonahvlogsdiy4143 I did it! It was so much easier than I thought it would be. You’re amazing 😊
Good luck
He sure did lube you up
And if younput 6 quarts I figure it's good. Why do people recheck like there paranoid lol
Great video! Simple and easy to follow. Thanks!
Glad it was helpful! You're welcome.
Great video didn't know where the oil filter was, thank God for youtube
Glad to help Jimmy.
Great video and glad to see you using Quaker State oil.
Thanks 👍 I like Quaker State and the price was right at that time.
Thank you for showing all the steps
No worries. Glad my video helped.
😀Thank you! My teenage son and I will be changing the oil. He wants to be a mechanic and I want to assist him anyway possible. You make this look so easy. I hope it is as easy as it looks. We are going to spend mother son time changing oil.
Awesome! You can do it! Or should I say he can do it!

Thanks a lot.😀 I got my town and country, I do it myself..and don't forget safety first...
Santi Pérez dont get dealer oil changes they add too much oil. 5 max specs say 6 but that will mess you r valve train.
Thanks for the info. This will help out the viewers also.
@@amtonio5602 depends on the dealer
Good job brah! Sub'd
Awesome! Thank you so much.
one of the best DIY tutorials to do the oil change service I've seen, good visuals and angles, and straight to the point appreciate your effots thanks!
Thanks. I try my best. Glad my video helped.
Thanks so much for this video! Gonna do my next oil change on a 2014 T&C we just got. I am just curious though what the reason may be for not replacing the O-ring before putting the new filter in? Seems easier to not have to slide it over the filter, but I'm sure it's some trick of the trade that I don't know about so was just wondering. Thanks again!
It's always a good idea to put the new O ring in.
Of course you can; just create a routine of your own.
Great idea Lucian. Thanks for sharing.
My 2014 and my wife's 2013 have different oil filters. I replaced OEM drain plugs with magnetic drain plugs (available online) so when I change the oil, I can see if any particles are accumulating on the inner surface of the plug.
It's a good idea to have the magnetic drain plugs. Thanks for sharing.
Why not replace the O ring BEFORE snapping in the new paper filter?
Good suggestion. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for the video! I changed my oil and figured out that I didn't have the right filter. I ordered the filter but went ahead and changed the oil. Can I change the filter with new oil in it or would it leak out?
Yes you can change the filter without leaking. The drain is only at the bottom for the oil. That's the great thing about this van. Just put extra rag for a a little drip.
@@jonahvlogsdiy4143 Great news...thanks!
When you pulled the oil filter and cap out / off of the base you didn't mention the spring that can sometimes launch itself across the room (or does 2013 not have a (compression) spring as my 2011 does?)
The 2013 doesn't have a compression spring. But thanks for charing the info. i will mention that in my description below my video.
mine is 2012 calls for 5w30
Thanks
No problem
Great job but size of oil plug is 1/2" , oil filter is 15/16" and my dipstick says check hot ( oil is about 1/8" into safe mark when cold) don't overfill by bringing up to full mark when cold, six quarts is all you need. 2014 T&C
Great info. Thanks for sharing with our viewers.
What does 710 mean?
Hey man, do you know if this is pretty much the same process on a 2011 town & country? Thanks
No worries. Thank you for the visit.
I would change the o ring b4 installing the new filter.
Great idea.
Do you really need to raise it up to get to the drain plug- or could you maybe just raise it not lifting it off the ground at all but just by raising the suspension?
Good question. I've never done it that way. I always do it this way. Safety first
.
yup ,safety first, the jack, could inadvertently come down on your head,a no no ,and it elevates the motor slightly to enhance oil flow as well, and easier to access and see. other than that ,nothing.
My 2011 Town an Country has 5w-30w in manuel and on the cap....... wonder if they changed to 5w-20w in a later year.... Anyone know???
Great question. I hope our viewers can answer that question, but if the cap and manual says 5w30w then its a sure bet its 5w30w.
My 2012 is 5-30,my drain plug is 16mm
My 2014 T&C takes 5W-20.
Was there any type of seal on the oil drain plug?
No not for this van.
@@jonahvlogsdiy4143 ok thanks!
No washer needed on drain plug?
Note: you might want to mention; "you will need a 24mm socket to remove the oil filter housing."
The old rugged cross
Thanks for mentioning it. Now the viewers will know.
He did, but the video is still too long and bloated
He did
Actually, it's a 25mm socket that is required. It is labelled on the canister. Why did you use a 24mm?
My oil cap says 5w-30 on 2011 T&C limited flex.
It may have changed from that year. Call the Chrysler dealer to double check on the oil for that year.
How about when bolt is broken, " no meat on ot" to use wrench unscrewing g it
If there's no meat on the bolt, try a plumbers wrench. It works well. Good luck on it.
Nice v
Thank you
No washer for the drain plug?
Mine has no washer for the drain plug.
My oil cap has 710 on it! What does that mean?
710 does not sound right. Better to call the Chrysler Dealer to double check.
🤣😂🤣👍
How long does this take? Like was a hour at most??
Maybe an hr if it's your first time but usually 20-30mins when you do it more often.
Why didn’t you mention drain plug size?
Good idea. I'll add to my description.
1/2 inch he said
