    That cat litter hack is no joke a lifesaver! I spilt almost an entire jug of oil on my garage floor. That stuff sucked it right up and cleanup became a breeze!

      @MCFIXIT  3 года назад +1

      Yes! It does help out a lot. i don't have a cat, but purchase a container of this about once or twice a year for any possible spills. Also works for many other engine chemicals (ATF, Coolant, etc)!

    Why do you put tape on your sockets? I noticed this on another of yours too.

    • @MCFIXIT
      @MCFIXIT  3 года назад +1

      I do it on my main two vehicles for changing oil. I have a set of sockets that I only use when doing car mechanics. It just saves some time. You can see writing on the side of this one and it says '16mm Van"

    Good stuff here! I've like how you remove the bolt and didn't drop it in the pan... I've done that too many times and had to go digging around in my pan. I bet your pan that filters down keeps the bolt on top instead of in the middle of all of it if you do end up dropping it.

    • @MCFIXIT
      @MCFIXIT  3 года назад +1

      Yeah, I’d you drop it then it gets messy really fast. I like to add some tension towards to the front of motor and keep my index finger on it then you are normally pretty. I split a little more than normal on my hand. Thanks for watching and commenting!

    You can also use used oil for all kinds home stuff. I use mine as a mix in to sand for holding hot crucible when smelting out precious metals from scrap.

    • @MCFIXIT

      That’s great! I once was on a mission trip in Honduras and we used it to paint fence posts. I was kinda shocked by the experience and it’s def not good for the environment but it helps deal up wood fence posts from getting rotten quickly like it would there.

    Why the high mileage instead of standard oil or full synthetic oil?

    • @MCFIXIT
      @MCFIXIT  3 года назад +1

      The standard oil is good. I prefer to do the BLEND of conventional oil and synthetic. Once you go Synthetic you are not supposed to use anything else. New cars were designed for that type of oil This almost 20-year-old van was not originally created for that type of oil.

    Do the filter grades make a big difference? I've never put much thought into what grade I buy. I normally do whatever is the cheapest.

    • @MCFIXIT

      I never buy the cheap ones. I do the middle grade ones.

    Why you use 5W30 instead of 5W20 ?

  • @JoseGarcia-et2ep
    @JoseGarcia-et2ep 2 года назад +1

    You put 5 quarts in? I have a 2007 town and country, its a 6 cylinder, can I still pour 6 quarts or it has to 5??🤔

    • @MCFIXIT
      @MCFIXIT  2 года назад +2

      Start with 5 and see where it’s at on the fill line on your dip stick. I’d stick with the recommended amount marked on your dip stick and in your owners manual. I’m not certain what an 07 would use bc it’s the next generation of model up.

    • @MCFIXIT

      I doubt it. I’m a bigger guy and there no way unless you jack it with a jack, ramps, or lift. Hope that helps!

    To smear the new oil on the rubber gasket of the new filter, you said "You do not want to spill a brand new 5 GALLON jug all over the ground...". The vehicle takes only 4 1/2 QUARTS of oil.

    • @MCFIXIT
      @MCFIXIT  2 года назад +1

      Correct. Its a 5 gallon container. There should be a little left over after you get done.
