Very informative. I slid under my Jeep, changed oil. Slid under my van and said "where the fu@k is the filter?" Came to your video, BAM! Done. Great video. 15/16 also works on that filter nut.
Helpful fact - Keep a small spiral notebook in your glove compartment and write the job, date, and mileage every time you do something like an oil change, air filter, etc.
Also you should change the filter before you drain the oil. If not you will still have about a half quart of old oil left in there. When you back out the filter a valve will drain all that oil back in to the pan. So replace filter than drain the oil
I've never changed my oil and always wondered how to do it. This is an outstanding step-by-step video on the 2015 Chrysler Town & Country. Easy to implement the steps and great advice on maintaining cleanliness. I highly recommend watching this video. Thanks for your help and well done teaching, Jim!
Thank you very much for producing videos like this!!! I enjoy doing small maintenance tasks like this cause its a bit cheaper but I am not very mechanical!!! I have most of the tools, just not the knowledge! These videos help with that!!
I just paid $60 at a local shop to have them do this. This is easier than my Honda Accord and my accord is a pain to change the oil filter, this is a walk in the park. I should have watched this first. I need to get a 24m for the filtar that is all. Thank you for the great video!
24mm is the socket that you need for the oil filter. You mentioned it, but never clarified. I bought the single socket since I do not see myself needing the entire kit you mentioned. Thanks for the video, helped a lot! I really hate where they put the oil filter. My old Toyota Solara did not require any tools and had plenty of space to replace it easily.
12:05 press the brake pedal or the gas pedal 3x to the floor....also what do you do if you only have a key fob....my key doesnt get inserted. i would trust you with my car most days
My Town & Country 2015 is E85 I've been actually putting regular gas in it and it sounds chunky I didn't know if I can put like an injector cleaner or carburetor cleaner in it please advise me thank you
Keeping your foot OFF the brake, press the ignition button twice to get into the "On" position, then slowly press gas pedal all the way down 3 times within 10 seconds.
I just changed the oil on our 2014 T&C (16kmiles), and put in the 6 qts as recommended. But after double-checking the level a couple days later, it's actually above the area marked "safe", at that single bend on the stick about another inch above it. I always change it hot, filter changed as well. Now I feel I should drain it a bit, which is a pain. I've never had this happen with any vehicle before. I watched this video to see if you had a similar problem, but you were spot on with 6 qts. How bad is it that it's over that amount for those days?
If it over a little its OK but an inch over the max mark is a lot.I would drain out a little oil.Do you want to send me a picture of the stick and how much over it is?My e mail is jimthecarguy1@gmail.com
I’m not sure if I over tighten the oil filter, or if the oring broke. I took a drive and check under the hood, around the oil filter cap I seen a tiny air bubble and just a bit of oil. So I’m gonna get a new oil filter and hopefully that works. Any suggestions?
I strongly recommend you use a torque wrench on the oil filter cap. Too tight - crack the cap. Too loose - oil leaks. Haynes manual says to tighten this to 18 ft-lbs.
Family member got mechanic to change and the mechanic over tightened the oil which cracked something which was realized a month later when checking the oil which it list and oil pools on the round and on the engine and they say they take no responsibility and asked for close to $1000 to fix their own error. What can one do. I assume companies make it this bad to sell parts.
We don't use kilometers in America lol 16,100 km lol. 10000 mi I would change it at about 7,500 mi I had a friend on an old Ford he changed the oil filter at mi 5,000 then change the oil filter and the oil at 10,000 when we tore the engine down it had zero wear on the crankshaft 😊
Six quarts? The only problem with this is all the oil containers are 5 quarts, so, in order to get your money worth, you'll have to do five oil changes to use up the remaining oil from the second jug you'll have to buy in the first place. Any thoughts on mixing oil brands and weights?
Hi Jim!,I have 2005 Ml350. I just changed all the brake pads but brake pedal goes to the floor and the car barely stops. Should I bleed or flush the brake fluid? Or any recommendation? Thanks!Tom
Tumbleweed the question was a bit unclear, so I’ll remove the answer. But you’re also wrong. The light will come back on when the computer THINKS by your driving style that you need to change it - not 10k mi or a year
Wouldn't the oil change be easier if you pulled the air intake hose out of the way. Great time to check the filter anyways with just that quick release snaps holding it on
+Tom Diep Well the manufacture recommend 10,000 miles but me personally would never go that long.On my own cars I change the oil and filter at 5,000.Good question.
buy a a big 5 qt jug not individual quarts. then use 1qt of marvel mystery oil for your 6th quart. also, after a few years you should start using drain plug crush washers each time.
Highly, HIGHLY recommend you use a torque wrench to tighten the plastic oil filter housing to 18 ft-lbs. This is valid for 3.6 liter V6 engines on the these minivans with the plastic cartridge. Learn from my mistake, if you don't tighten enough, YOU WILL LEAK OIL. And, as explained in this video, if you tighten it too much, you'll crack it, and then you'll probably have to wait for the dealership to order one and get it.
That is ridiculous. Toyota is worse. There filter cartridge is underneath. I am looking to get a 2015 T&C in the next month or 2 and I love that it has this up top plus I have a fluid evacuator with several tubes so I never need to go underneath unless it is for the filter.
BY FAR one of the best instructional videos that I have ever seen.
Glad you enjoyed it

To reset oil reminder, turn key to on, not start. Push gas pedal to floor 3 times. Turn off key.
He forgot to mention which pedal.
Gas lol 😆
exacly
i just got my car...i dont think the key gets inserted...i dont think there is place to insert it is just push button start ....what do you do then?
@mellamodiego8458 my start engine push button can be pulled out and then you may insert the key fob in the hole

Thanks feeling satisfied that I did that all on my own. No leaks.
Great video, subscribed! Thank you for making these!
Thanks for the sub!
Very Good Video! Helps a lot to watch this! Thanks much!

+lousybreaker Thank you for your input.(24mm)Your right they made it much harder to get to some of the filters.
He did say what size socket it was, you just missed it.
Thanks very much for the video. Now I know what I'm getting into when I change the oil in my caravan.
Hey Jim, 13mm is incorrect on that drain plug. 13mm is a bit sloppy, 1/2" fits like a glove!! Thank you, good vid.
22 mm or 15/16 not 13 mm
@@46lfries he said drain plug, not the oil filter...

Three times to the floor with the gas pedal?
First time changing this kind of oil filter.
Used to the old canister type underneath.
Thanks a bunch.
+Eric Rusch Sr Ya the new car with the canister are really a pain in the rear end to do

Is there a washer on the drain plug?
How does the spring inside the oil filter case work
What if the spring comes out of the oil filter cap? Am I good to just put it back in?
Step down on the gas pedal 3 times or are you pushing the brake pedal 3 times?
what is the reset procedure on one that doesn't use a key
Keeping your foot OFF the brake, press the ignition button twice to get into the "On" position, then slowly press gas pedal all the way down 3 times within 10 seconds.
My filter is stuck. I got the oil drained out and the plastic cap off of it but the paper filter won't come out. It spins freely but won't come out.
Everything I needed to know. Thank you!
Thank you for watching . Don't forget to subscribe.
What do u press to the floor 3 times the gas pedal or brake pedal
This video was perfect! thanks for sharing
Thank you for your feedback
How about the washer on the drain plug. Are we supposed to change that every time? Also, what kind is it? Metal, rubber, nylon?
+John Lindborg If the washer is damaged you should replace it.The gasket is metal.
Great job thank you
ok, 3 times to the floor to reset with the accelerator or the brake pedal?????? thanks!!
Accelerator

Thanks again for the info. A partial drain wasn't that bad at all, although it did make me think of getting one of those Fumoto valves, haha
Hi Jim, What type of oil should be used: Conventional, semi-synthetic? I have a 2016 van and also a 2012 Cruze which requires Dexos1 oil. Thanks.
Mobil 1 full synthetic, its helped a great deal with the van,ive had the rocker and valve both replaced under warranty from Chrysler for my 2016

Hi Jim, Where is the cabin filter location for 2016 Town and Country? Thanks Jim!
Tom
behind the glovebox...takes 5min to change out.
Hi Jim,
How many Kilometers should I change the old and filter for 2016 Town and Country? Thanks Jim!
Tom
The manufacture recommends 10,000 miles but I would never go that long. What I do on my personal cars and trucks is between 3,000 and 5,000 miles

Hi Jim, I have 2016 Town and Country. When I tighten the oil filter, should I just tight by hand or use the 24mmt? Thanks!
+Tom Diep good question with the cartridge filter you use the socket but not to tight it is only plastic
when you reset the oil warning does it reset to the current milage?

Wouldn't the oil change be easier if you pulled the air intake hose out of the way. Great time to check the filter anyways with just that quick release snaps holding it on
YES 🤣 LOOSEN THE HOSE ON THE ENGINE AND SLIDE IT OFF BE CAREFUL WITH THE CLIPS YOU DON'T SNAP THEM ON THE AIR CLEANER 😉
Yes get the air filter out of the way 15 16 socket on the oil filter cover
Don't over tighten the oil filter cover the o-ring keeps the seal just snug it down don't overdo it
Perfect tutorial

Jim, do you think it's ok to drive on the high way right away since it's a new vehicle? Thanks!
+Tom Diep Yes it's ok
+Tom Diep Yes every 5,000 miles.That's what I do.
Great video Jim! Quick question, does the oil drain plug use a drain plug washer that needs to be replaced every time you change oil?
+zoomzoomh It does have a washer and you only have to replace it when it is damaged. Not every time.

Where can I buy that ratchet? Thanks
Any auto parts store or for sure Amazon.
Amazon or ebay..it's a "flex head" ratchet. If you do any work on cars you need one. It'll make your life easier.
What kind of filter do you use
At my shop I use ether the Napa filter or a Wix.
Thx Jim.
