Austin, I was only searching RUclips for tips on paint spraying months ago when I discovered your channel. Since then Iv been captivated by your progress on this rebuild, Its great you are sharing your knowledge to the masses.
Awesome! Thank you!
@@austinniemela do you have an excel sheet or google doc with the parts required for this build? I want to copy it and watch your videos over and over for the build for my 89 4runner
For a motor that turns pristine clean oil into liquid carbon black, and toner cartridge powder, it's a thing of beauty.
Been following this build from the start, I love these older toyotas, can't wait to see it running
I'm so excited for you. You've taught me alot more than school !!
Amazing detail. Fantastic video. Couldn’t help but notice that it’s basically the same oil cooler I had on my 1985 Jetta 1.8L mechanical injection gasser when I was a kid. If it ain’t broke.....
Such a cute little motor 🥺
Nice work man, love the attention to detail!
Very nice build 👍
As this project draws to a close looking forward to what you have in store for us next
🇮🇲
Nothing better than a clean motor great job Aust great videos budd keep them coming 👏👏👏👌😁😁
you are a very talented young man. you take great care in your work. and it shows in your finished product. I agree with Abel, your truck is very clean keep up the great work.
I appreciate that!
Glad to see the truck come back together. Want to see how it looks with the 4Runner grill and lights. Really interested in doing that swap to my ‘94 Ext cab PU as well.
Video of that front end coming soon!!
Stoked to see this baby roll! 👍🏼
Makes me want to rebuild my ALH, nice job dude
Sure would like to know more about this engine. Very very interesting. 👍
been waiting for this!
Can’t wait to see this thing going down so trails 🤘😵
Looks great, you did it right and you should have a real good running reliable motor. Probably be surprised because it is going to run stronger and perhaps even better fuel economy. Very cool.
Fair play to you that is the nicest alh I have ever seen ! 👌
Thanks man!
I really like to watch your video bro you doing amazing job god bless you
Crazy detail !
I’m excited for you. Really nice build
Thanks!
Looking good almost there 🤙🇬🇺
Austin,
Awesome job! I've completed 1.9 TDI swap in my Isuzu. I've had an issue with long cranking before starting when hot and all the experts on the swap sites say it a timing issue or a bad tune on the ECM. I have reset my timing belt multiple times I noticed when you completed the timing belt install you did not mention TDC. Obviously you already had top dead center from the build, you did not need to find it. I found it by dropping coat hanger in the #1 cylinder injection hole and aligning the mark on harmonic balancer. However, I still have the long cranks before starting when hot. Lots of power. Any suggestions to try. Again awesome job! You are one smart young man!
It looks great
Looks great! You should have upgraded that oil cooler to the larger one. Those small ones go out all the time.
I'd forego the bigger one for the iea industries billet aluminum adaption with a remotely located, real, oil cooler and a screw-on oil filter from the Passat.
One thing I realize by watching this project is a motor rebuild is a risky investment. I see all of the double checking you have to do after the machine shop and all the mistakes. Very tedious. You are so skillful. A regular guy like me would never attempt to even have my mechanic rebuild an engine after watching this. But I love watching you do it. Thank for entertaining us. One question, did you learn all of the basics from watching your dad? Did he actively teach you?
Mostly learned everything myself from trial and error
Cleeeeeeeean!!!
The motor looks great.., except for the timing belt cover...
Put some dressing on it or paint it.., something...
Fantastic job...👏👏👏
Very informative 👌
It looks amazing can’t wait to here that turbo whistle!!
How did you remove/install the injection pump without losing the timing of the pump? Kind of curious how you removed the sprocket.
I have the tool to keep the timing while it's all together, but you can't leave the tool in and take the sprocket off at the same time in order to remove the pump.
Lookin good💪🏻
Nice love the content
Great job! Do you have a PDF or chart of the right position of the injection pump, cam shaft, cram shaft before putting back the timing belt? I'm fixing the same car and I had to remove the injection pump but I don't want to mess up when I put it back. thank. you !
Perfect job👍
Thank you!
Nice video
Trucks looking good Austin, did you get new weather stripping for the doors on your truck? If so where?
No i used the weatherstripping i had!
Can’t wait
I'm doing the timing belt on my 1z and the flywheel is on but transmission if off. I got the pump key locked and cam locked, how do you set your bottom end in time on the engine stand before putting the belt on??
Did you block of the boost pipe ? By the turbo
Hello, very informative video. I wasn't aware that there was an alternative bracket for the idler pulley. Where can I find one of those? Or is it a one time fabrication? Thank you.
That’s a custom tensioner I built!
Amazing 😍
Looking awesome! Do you know what kind of power your looking for? I'm curious about a tdi swap but im not sure what kind of power they can make.
Roughly 190-200HP and 375TQ
Hi Austin, Your attention to detail is amazing. I am still hoping to find someone that will do a TDI swap like yours for me. I know there are kits available to mount a TDI to a TH700R4 Chevrolet Trans. I have a like new 1987 S10 Blazer 4X4 with only 62K actual miles. It looks like it was never sat in. Under the hood id looks undriven. The 2.8 V6 is slower than a riding mower. If you can find anybody to do the swap or if you will do it, please get back to me. I will ship the Blazer to get a job like yours. I am looking to have a mild build and be close to 200hp when done. The 2.8 V6 is only 135HP/135TQ. FYI I am a medically disabled LEO.
Thank you! Im not sure who could do a swap for you! I just dont have time with everything i have going on!
@@austinniemela If you change your mind the Blazer is a garage queen spare vehicle so I am in absolutely no hurry to get it back. You are talented and I would be honored if you took up the task. BTW what state are you in?
awesome
Mint!
What kind of turbo did you put in?
Salut, la cât se schimba distribuția la acest motor Alh?
i tried looking in your build list what exhaust manifold is that by the way awesome build
Its a BHW manifold from a 04-05 passat TDI
Hello, I have the same engine, I have a problem with my alternator not fitting because of the turbo, I need to buy the kit that you have, can you help me?
Is it possible to time the cam 180 off with that tool and if so would it do damage?
Yes you can and yes it will bend valves!
@@austinniemela good to know!
what pistons are you running
Hi much hp do u have on your Vw at the front whhela
Hey Austin truck look great you are doing amazing job with it . Just one question what made you choose VW engine can you get more hp out of it compared to Toyota just wondering I am very impressed with your engine rebuild 100% thanks mate from your Aussie 🇦🇺subscribe ✅✅✅
I chose the VW TDI because they are very good motors, get extremely good fuel mileage, great HP and TQ once modified and its a small light motor!
Should have been Toyota diesel LOL
I am having 1.9 tdi there is back compression problem how to solve it
WOW
👍
is this the 130hp tdi engine or another verison?
90hp stock!
@@austinniemela thank you. I wasn't aware which version you had.
Do you have the original transmission in?
Yes i do!
Austin Niemela right on! I’m planning on doing an engine swap in my 99’ Tacoma!
👍✌
So shiny
Where you from bro
Wa state!
less music more talk. Let us know what you are doing. I want to know how to do it.
