    It's so lovely to see someone wearing only dresses. I too only wear dresses and find them so easy to wear all year round in the UK. They are easy to pair with boots, shoes and trainers, and I don't have to try to match tops to bottoms. My stomach can expand and shrink throughout the day, and I still feel comfortable.
    I never feel over or under dresses and I can just concentrate on enjoying my life.
    Great video

    The complete opposite actually happens when you wear the same outfit day after day. People notice straight away when you are wearing a new outfit. My mother proudly told me she owns 75 jumpers. Then mentioned; you haven’t said anything about my new jumper. My answer; I couldn’t tell it was new.
    Also I would rather see a outfit of mine worn to death and scruffy then with the ticket still on it x

    • @minimalismandmore

      75 jumpers! 😮 Wow.
      I agree, I used to buy things in the sale because they were "nice" and "a bargain" but they'd still be hanging with the tag on a year later 🤷‍♀️ Now, unless it's "love", I don't buy it as I know it won't get worn

      Thank you 🩷 Yes I walk everywhere! Both my docs (once I'd broken them in) and my totes sandals are like walking on air, I love them both! The trainers I only wear for the gym or sometimes if I do a coastal walk in summer and sandals wouldn't be safe. Thank you for subscribing 😊

    Goodbye things is a fantastic read! I have read it three times. It was lovely to see the face behind the camera. I live in Canada and also have to dress for four seasons and sometimes all in one day. I am the queen of layering. I have paired things together on a whim that end up being a favorite combo that I wear on repeat. My colleagues used to guess what I was going to wear to work based on my minimal wardrobe and the weather. I never took offense to it at all. They would all be shocked when I got something new. It always seems intrigued them to ask about my lifestyle and some invited me over to help them clear their space.

    Great video, and so nice to hear from someone in the UK. I'm new to minimalism, but, like you, I have opted for dresses instead of trousers, which really surprises me. I find they are the best solution for my constantly fluctuating weight, whereas I have trousers in several sizes! I understand what you're saying about clothes wearing out more quickly, but at least they've worn out from proper use, rather than just being thrown in the bin when they're in excellent condition but you've just gone off them.

      I love scouring the charity shops but I rarely buy anything anymore. Most of the ones near me have scrapped the changing room and I like to try mine on before I buy. I don't have wellies as my doc boots do the same job 🙂 I just run them under the bath tap when I get home and they are as good as new! I only wear underwear when I’m in bed. I find it’s much more comfortable than wearing PJ’s . I don’t have to drag my clothes with me when I turn around in bed 😂

      As I don't have a drier, I'd struggle to wash and dry them after the gym and before bed time 👎🙁 I don't mind the couple I have really as they don't take up much space. I've had only 1 set of pj's until recently but got another set as the green pair are getting a bit worn and I don't think they'll last for much longer. I'll probably just have 1 set again then

      @@minimalismandmore I forgot to ask you a question about the Dr Martins. I had been considering getting myself a pair because of their versatility with outfits. How are they for walking in?

    • @minimalismandmore
      @minimalismandmore  8 месяцев назад

      @Helikins15 Okay so I *love* them. They are like walking in slippers. I walk miles in them. But.... they were an absolute pain in the ar$e to break in and I got such bad blisters on the heel of both feet and bruises on the top of my feet (by the bottom of the zip area) I was near to binning them regardless of what I'd spent but everyone told me to push through it as once they are broken in they will be lush, and they were right! I walk at an angle so basically my feet tilted to the side and all other shoes I wear away the sole really quickly and they last mere months but I've had these boots for years now. Maybe Google specifically Dc boots and arches to see if anyone else has a more detailed review on that? But I love mine and wouldn't be without them now 🥾🩷

    Thank you for sharing! As an American living in Europe in weather similar to the UK, I have a tough time with laundry without a clothes dryer. Could you share your laundry routine in detail and how you make it work with so little clothes? We don't have a lot of clothes and it takes forever to get the clothes, bedsheets & towels dry as it is almost always rainy here. I don't know how people did it back in the day! We are a family of 5 with a toddler. I also only wear dresses, I'm glad I finally found a minimal wardrobe with only dresses. Also, if/when one has so little to wash, do you wash it by hand so as not to waste water and electricity & be more efficient? But then without a dryer it takes forever to dry!

      Thank you 😊 Don't stress, it's easily done and easily rectified 🩷 A tip I used when paring down is to give myself a set time frame, box up what I think I don't need and re visit it after that date to see if I needed anything in it. Another tip is to turn the hanger the wrong way around after you've worn something and then after a certain time frame, anything on a hanger facing the other way gets removed as it's unworn? Good luck 🩷

      I've been dwindling it down for a long time now but I held on to my "just in case" items for ages. That made the biggest difference when I removed them. I'm not working at the moment but I have previously worn dresses like the ones I own now in an office but just with ballet flat style shoes. And other jobs I've had included a uniform. I used to collect acrylic jewellery and some pieces I paid hundreds of pounds on and I lost so much £ when I sold them but the relief when they were finally all sold was immense and totally worth it. It played on my mind a lot when they were in my home that I'd wasted so much money on them and no longer wore them

    Hi, thanks for video. Can I ask, when you started to get rid of alot of clothes items what did you do with them? As I find it hard to part with clothing that I don't wear anymore, as I may have loved it once & worn it alot a few years ago but then I stopped for whatever reason so it's just stored for just incase. I can't get past this so I have way too many clothes.😂 Half of which I don't wear but they remind me of phase in my life that was good or cost me alot so I'm reluctant to get rid but I need more space for the things I do wear now. Any tips on parting with clothing?

    • @minimalismandmore
      @minimalismandmore  8 месяцев назад +1

      To be honest, parting with clothing has never been an issue for me. I happily donate them to clothing banks or charity shops, even things I've paid a lot for. I love the feeling of passing on an item so it can be used and enjoyed by someone else. Especially people who may be in need of them. The few things I struggled with, I did sell on ebay. Try and remember that memories aren't stored in clothing and you can always look back on photos of you wearing them to remember the good times and by making the space you are making room for your future 🩷 Maybe try and sell the things you are really struggling with and use the money for something you'd otherwise not be able to afford or donate the clothing/profits to a charity that means something to you so that not only have the clothes given you joy when you had them, but also when you passed them on? Good luck with it and small steps are still progress 💪🩷
