You are the only one that's got it right. I looked for tab music sheets, first thing they were incomplete, second I tried playing them and they didn't quite sound right, so I watched a live video of Firehouse playing the song and that's what made me come here.
Mike, my "ahhhhaaa!" moment came when you said it was tuned a half step down. Till then, I was bashing my brains trying to figure out why I sounded totally off from what you were teaching and sounding like, I have a 12 string so it was also a lesson in persistence.
I agree with Dragonfly64a Bill Leverty is a kick ass guitar player that does not get the pub. Check out some of his work on his CD "Southern Exposure". He is amazing.
I'm not bothered by buying a new axe. The stalemate we have here is, she wants me to get something more traditional in an acoustic, and I want something more modern and slim like an Ovation. She hates the leaf inlays on the Ovation and I hate the huge size of most acoustics. Unless I'm spending 2 grand or more, I don't have much in options for good lefty acoustics. I've come up with a plan though, I buy the Ovation I want, and buy a cheaper Martin that she likes. And I'll only play the ovation!

Pretty close. Opening A chord is different (It's just a triad with the A and High E strings ringing open, get rid of your pinky). Oscar Schmidt guitars are bargain basement Washburns. Like Squire to Fender, Honda to Acura.
