Great video. Just back from Skye, caught plenty of Mackerel on 5 gm Savage gear sprat with HTO twin tip rockfish rod, jaw 1000 reel with 8lb braid , 6 lb fluorocarbon leader. Awesome fun on the ultra light gear
Of course, innit obvious! Most people were I live just keep them regardless of size! If it’s too small to keep, it’d make perfect bait is the motto up here!
@@fishingintheukgarywood hi mate just watched your video with the diawa bg spinning rod..are they any good? Or would u say go with the diawa ninja? Paired with diawa ninja 4000 spinning reel…I’m new to pier fishing…thanks
Hi mate, I would go with the bg spinning rod, I've just bought a new one exactly the same as the first one because I broke a couple of eyes on the first one. It casts well and handles the fish well.
Great video.

what line are you using. is a 15-45g spinning rod w/ 15lb mono fine
I think it was 25lb braid, but 15lb mono would be fine.
Whys there nobody else on South shields pier usually it's rammed when the mackerel is in
