I'm really happy with his product. Saved me $500+ and took 2 hours. It would have taken less time but I was a bit over cautious picking the broken glass off the rubber. When I realized how tuff the rubber was it came off much faster. Thanks Brad.
This patch worked great for my '09 Tacoma. Thanks, Brad for providing this cost-effective work-around. When the rear passenger side panel glass broke, I was shocked to find out the entire rear glass assembly has to be replaced at a cost of nearly $1K. This patch saved me nearly $800. As Brad says, follow the instruction video to a "T" and you will be OK. The adhesive is difficult to work with, though, so make sure to heat it sufficiently according to the instructions in another video. After completing the job and going through the car wash I noticed a small leak inside the glass. I used clear silicone caulk to seal the seam where the glass meets the frame, and now no leaks.
I had some issues with my install but overall it worked okay. - The plastic tube funnel ended up breaking because it didn't fit on caulk gun. i made a new one out of duck tape and it worked well but something to keep in mind. - the inside window piece was a giant pain in the ass because the tube didn't heat up as much and it was very viscous. I left my tube in the tube gun when I heated to do the inside layer... i should have taken it out, i didnt even think about it! So far its holding up well, looks pretty good, I still need to finish vacuuming all the extra glass and goodies
Thanks for the tutorial, worked great on my '15 Tacoma. Not hard at all, just be careful where you stick the urethane if you don't want to deal with too much clean up. Hard to tell it's a replacement unless you look close.
Hey Brad, how did you heat up your urethane? Also, would you recommend priming the broken glass before applying the urethane? I did a great patch three years ago, and it worked well, but the seal has finally worn out, so I need to redo it. Thanks in advance for your help!
I'm replacing the right hand rear panel on my 05 Tundra. How do I clamp the right side p anel down with the manual center slide panel in the way? Do I need to remove the center slide? If so, how?
Brad, do you need to prime the rubber of the moulean? If I do spend hours removing every bit of glass… would this work? I understand the urethane bonds the glass together very well if left in place. Just wondering if spending the extra time, then cleaning and priming the rubber before installation would result in a nearly perfect repair? This is probably asked quite a bit. Apologies if so. Thank you!
That would cause an epic fail. Follow the directions in the video to the T you'll have the best success. I know that some people just can't help themselves and have to remove the broken glass and try and treat it as a true replacement it is not designed or intended to be used that way. Follow the directions!!!!
@@autoglassamerica ok but you seemed to highlight another person for a great success and example of what can be achieved when taking your time. He clearly removed all of the glass. Confusing.
It does not fit in the rubber we're gluing over the original broken glass. My replacement part will then be flush with the frame not noticeable to anyone but you as you're the one that's doing the fix. Even fools dealerships when turning in a lease

I just got your glass and urethane kite, my question is where am I actually using the little tube i'll 'BetaPrime' 5504G ? Am I applying it on the glass patch it self or am I using it on the broken glass rim slider portion on my truck that's going to be patched? I've seen the videos, and it just seems the person demonstrating the patch work only does the brake cleaner spray over the broken glass rim slider, applies the black urethane sealant and the jobs is done. So id figure id ask
In some circumstances you need the primer to create an adhesion promotion 2 plastic. Word hesione is critical if you're going over the broken glass you do not need it
@@daddycool4471 It's not silicone. NEVER use silicone sealant on a car or truck. It has acetic aid which promotes rust. He used automotive URETHANE sealant. Wear disposable gloves, or you'll be wearing it for 2 or 3 days! And if you get it on your clothes, it's not washing out.

Best way to heat the urethane ?
Can i preheat the oven to 140 and place the tube in the oven and wait till the oven reaches that temp ?

Is the new glass supposed to sit in that rubber lip that goes all around the factory window or is it supposed to protrude a little bit.

Maybe but for anybody reading this follow the directions in the video do not deviate from my plan.

Glass to plastic you cannot apply urethane to plastic without Primer
