The most underrated member of the Eagles, Randy Meisner's masterpiece Try and Love Again off Hotel Cal is one of their greatest songs ever. Rest well Randy.
@shivadasa - we were at the first Hotel California show in Las Vegas in September 2019, and yes, he does a great job. We have tickets for October 5th in Denver.
I applaud the fact that they recognize the value of this song, and they chose to add it to their setlist. A true classic, sadly not as well known as their hits, but it's easily one of their best. RIP Randy Meisner.
I just saw them last night in Jacksonville & this is a song Randy miesner sang & I forgot all about & I thought the same thing , Vince sings it great ( which he could sing the funny papers & it would be awesome) !!
This version is pretty good. It's not an easy song to try and cover given the nuances of Randy's voice on the original. I noticed that most of The Eagles songs that Randy sang or he had a substantial role in on harmonies were never performed in an Eagles set list after he left i.e. Most of Us Are Sad, Take The Devil, Tryin', Certain Kind of Fool, Saturday Night, Midnight Flyer, Too Many Hands, Good Day In Hell, Take It To The Limit (until Farewell 1 when Glenn Frey butchered it) and of course Try and Love Again. The only two songs Timothy ever does is I Can't Tell You Why and Love Will Keep Us Alive. I don't think he's ever performed I Don't Want To Hear Anymore or Do Something from Long Road Out of Eden. I guess it just proves Randy's influence a vocalist in the band's history.
With due respect to Vince Gill … his voice is so thin compared to Randy rich tones. Very brave to try tho. Not easy to cover any lead vocal originally done by the great Randy Meisner!
A lot of people here who don't know what they're talking about. Which isn't a surprise. The Eagles performed Saturday Night as the opener in the History of the Eagles tour. Timothy sang I Don't Want To Hear Anymore throughout the Long Road Out Of Eden tour and even occasionally afterward. Glenn always said Take It To The Limit was "written with and for" Randy Meisner. Try to refrain from commenting if you're just guessing about what you think might be true.
Saw The Eagles in Raleigh, NC in March this year. The only time I got to see them live. Fantastic show! I have their Hotel California album from when is first came out. But my new favorite album is Hell Freezes Over. Hope to see them again...
I loved this concert and Vince Gill was an amazing addition . Saw it in Toronto in Sept 22 . To my right was a camera person filming the concert so hopefully at the end of their tours they release dvd and cds of the Hotel California and the Last Goodbye tours. Hope they come back up here in 2024
As much as I love Vince Gill, this was a great performance. And as much as the eagles like to replicate what they're recording sound like from the album, Randy meisner had a voice that is difficult to replicate. This is a close representation but nothing like the original.
Ya, he really does this song justice.... No one can do it like Randy, but Vince does display his full range and kills it! I saw it live in Denver last year and it brought tears to my eyes, and I'm not ashamed to admit it. It has always been an underrated and somewhat overlooked track from the Hotel California album, but has always been a favorite of mine.
Vince does a better job on this one then on “Take It To The Limit”. Don’t mean to insult the dead but Frey trying to sing “Take It To The Limit” wasn’t even close.
I hope this gets recorded with Vince. It'll always be Randy's but he's no longer here to sing it for us and Vince's voice, well there was no one better to now sing this song!
Why are so many people here critical of Vince's singing on this song? I love this song, and I think the whole band sounds great. This is a hard song to sing. In many parts of this he actually sounds better than Randy, imho. I would have loved to see and hear this live.
I wonder… is henley trying to blurrrr everyone’s remembrance of Randy Meisner.. henley NEVER played any of Randy Meisner’s songs after they pushed him out…. Now, they’ve finally found someone that can come close to Randy’s vocal range…. Eagles MISTREATED Randy Meisner….
Totally agree - Henley and Frey were instrumental in many of the conflicts within the group due to their greed - Don Felder's guitar playing can't ever be surpassed by Steuart Smith - he's good but nothing like Don Felder
You might want to listen to the original again...and again and again and just close your eyes and listen to Randy Meisner's voice and the harmonies. Then if that does nothing for you, by all means to you this version's better, and I thank you for sharing your opinion.
The most underrated member of the Eagles, Randy Meisner's masterpiece Try and Love Again off Hotel Cal is one of their greatest songs ever. Rest well Randy.
It’s one of my favourites.
With respect to Vince Gill, nobody can do this song like Randy Meisner !
Vince was probably the first person to say that.
@shivadasa - we were at the first Hotel California show in Las Vegas in September 2019, and yes, he does a great job. We have tickets for October 5th in Denver.
Agree… it is still a Randy Meister song!!!
@shivadasa - So were we, and so do we! That was a great show and a wonderful weekend (and I’m not a major Vegas fan). See you in Denver!
I’m sorry but I’d rather hear Vince sing this every time.
I applaud the fact that they recognize the value of this song, and they chose to add it to their setlist. A true classic, sadly not as well known as their hits, but it's easily one of their best. RIP Randy Meisner.
This was part of the Hotel California Tour, where they played the entire album cover to cover
Randy was to me eagles best vocalist ever
Vince does a very good job here. I'm sure he sang this song as a tribute for Randy. RIP.
Absolut!! Dem ist Nichts mehr hinzuzufügen!!
He hadn't died yet.
Randy died Summer 2023.
Rest well, Randy. 💟
@@charlesfabri9771You absolutely have no awareness . .lol
best song from eagles. I bought the LP only for this song. Randy is irreplaceble
Seriously underrated song, Try and Love Again has that 70's sound and feel down to a tee
Rest in Peace, Randy Meisner. You were one of a kind.
Vince......what a voice, what a talent.........perfect choice. Honorable! The EAGLES.......intact.
I just saw them last night in Jacksonville & this is a song Randy miesner sang & I forgot all about & I thought the same thing , Vince sings it great ( which he could sing the funny papers & it would be awesome) !!
He sucks.
LOL. It’s a bunch of scabs now. Ain’t the Eagles it’s Don Felder and Friends.
Gil does a good job, but Randy sang it so believable. Just glad it made the set list. Rest in peace Randy. Always my favorite Eagle.
Vince sounds great here. My favorite Randy Meissner song.

Frey didn't just butcher it. When he announced it he actually had the balls to say he & Henley wrote it. Literally, no mention of Randy Meisner,
With due respect to Vince Gill … his voice is so thin compared to Randy rich tones. Very brave to try tho. Not easy to cover any lead vocal originally done by the great Randy Meisner!
@@chrisjohnson3694 … I agree! Frey was ahead of his time ie re-writing history…
They did I Don't Want to Hear Anymore during the Long Road Out Of Eden tour.

Great job Vince. Beautiful song love the harmony.
Such great memories in the ‘70s from Randy Meisner’s song.

I saw this show in New Orleans. Great show and almost 3 hours long
Absolutely beautiful. ❤️

I like Vince, but no one can touch this masterpiece like Randy was able to
This song really bring out Vince's full range. What a beautiful voice. Goodness, what a beautiful voice.

@@lucashawkins saw them in Minneapolis. It was fantastic. Cheers
Solid second to Randy’s first, still freaking awesome! Rock on Eagles!
Not the Randy’s but I’m satisfied with its maturity and ideal performance. Reminded me of good old Eagles.
without maisnar and felder there is no EAGLES
absolutly right' they were the eagles
Sorry, but no. Not Randy, and no one does this song like Randy Meisner
I want Randy !!!!
One of the best things about this piece is the bass line, iconic and historic, unfortunately you can't hear it in this video.
Vince does a better job on this one then on “Take It To The Limit”. Don’t mean to insult the dead but Frey trying to sing “Take It To The Limit” wasn’t even close.
I agree I like Vince a lot but there will never be another randy
It is good but randy miesner is the only eagle that should ever sing this beautiful song!!!!!!
Vince did an amazing job. ❤
I like the simple stage set-up. No blinding lights or strobes just musicians and musicianship
Not the Eagles I grew up with.
Should be called Henley and friends tribute to Eagles.
Should call themselves "The Onegles" because there's only one original member left.
Lot of things in your life the same as they were 50 years ago? Or do you just like to complain?
I hope this gets recorded with Vince. It'll always be Randy's but he's no longer here to sing it for us and Vince's voice, well there was no one better to now sing this song!
Quite soothing, thanks for uploading 😄
You did it well,Vince.admire your voice.your version next to Randy.
Thanks for the sharing😊
After Randy and Don was gone, nothing more than a cover band!

Missing Randy!
Why not show an original video of randy singing this song. Thought they never sang it live. Why do it now with Vince.
With respect to Vince, Randy put it out therefore we got the memory
And Vince is keeping it alive for us!

Too fast! This version is 82 bpm, but the original recording is 76 bpm. It lacks the feel & flow of the original at the higher speed.
Whose that?
hey, I was there!
Not a good job but a great job and not easy to do!

They did a lame version of Take It To The Limit with Glenn on vocals in the early 2000s.
Jesus Cristo é o amor 🙏🧡🔥🌻🇧🇷🌈🩰📺
No just no. Team Randy all the way
It's not a competition. We all love Randy.. but he's not with us anymore. Vince does a brilliant job of singing this song.
How does XM radio have this from 2018? It's literally not available anywhere.
not in the same class as randy
Hermoso
Vince Gill whining his way through this song is like Barbra Streisand trying to sing Led Zeppelin. It sucks. RIP Randy Miesner.
Nope, this is a poor subsitute for Randy Meitzer.
Metizer. Lol
🚫 nop.
what a fail! no one can replace Randy...
This guy is not really a singer cuz his range is only four notes.
Better than the original.
Agreed

Not even close....the harmonies & vocals soar like a angel opening their wings on the original, not so much here...
So well done guys. Legendary.
