I learned that the metal tags can be sublimated (with thermal laminating sheets). If I am gifting something to family, I put their picture on it with a message. If for a customer, I will design something so the tag is relevant to whatever they purchased. I love personalization.
My favorite one is the magnetic key holder. I think it was Creative on the Cheap that did a hair roller plaque for the foyer so your guests can remove the dog hair before they leave, and I think that idea coupled with yours would be much easier to do. I'm an Aussie owner, so every guest gets a full-body parting gift if they don't use the roller on the way out!

On the right and left corner of the metal key holder you can put a nice looking magnets in each bottom corner and that should prevent the wobble when adding the keys.

Thinking about it and I think a 3rd decorative magnet in the center bottom along with the ones in the lower right and left corner might do better at centralizing the weight. One other thought is to trying putting 3 decorative magnets in the bottom center and see if that does better at centering the weight.

I tried my local Dollar Tree for the 1st time. I had a list of 6 items of which they had 1 the store was dirty and a total mess. I can't see myself going back there again.
I still think that's a great deal ($19/mn)! Especially if you use the designs for things you are selling on Etsy or at craft fairs! They all include the commercial license and save so much time if you use their designs vs. creating your own A++ in my book!

The most your allowed for the highest tier, which is like $20 per month, is 50 downloads AND they don't have nearly as many things to choose from and what they do offer aren't that good either...I hope that makes sense)
