Visited his grave in the late 80s with a rockabilly mate on the anniversary of Billy’s death. While there with other fans his mum arrived…..she was a lovely lady and very moved to see people had remembered her dear son……a fond memory indeed to a talented artist.

Hi Paul, i’m a community carer in Liverpool. I had the pleasure of looking after his mum, Sarah, in her final years. Immensely proud of him, and his brother Albie. She explained how an illness while he was young, as you’ve stated, weakened his heart. Fantastic video as always Paul 😀

Hi Paul, thank you for posting this video.
My brother was in a children’s hospital in the 60’s and Billy Fury, Marty Wilde and Eden Kane came to visit the children. My mum said what a lovely guy Billy was.
All three of those artists were class guys to take time to visit children in hospital.
    RIP Billy. ❤

My late Brother Bob worked on the buses in Great Yarmouth in the late 1960's and Billy Fury amongst other singers were appearing there doing summer seasons and didn't earn a great deal. So many of them eat in the same cafés as the bus crews. Bob was a big fan of Billy's and often chatted to him. He was really just like one of the lads. Bob told me one of the most popular conversations was 'Crumpet' and looking at them walking past the café giving them marks from 1 to 10.

I love billy fury I bought a album of him yrs ago in his gold suite his grave looks beautiful with all the little ornaments of birds and owls. I remember reading he said he wud rather spend time with his birds than go out partying in clubs. I love all his songs. He said as a child he missed so much school and found it hard to make friends because he was in and out of hospital with his rheumatic fever as a child. He also admitted he was very shy. And people used to think he was being funny and awkward because he didn't want to communicate with people and all because he was a terribly shy guy. I read he finally met his idol elvis presley and watched him on the set of a film and stayed with elvis all day and never said one word to him because of his severe shyness. And apparently elvis said to someone on set this guy ain't said one word to me all day. Billy fury said on stage his shyness didn't exist it was only when he was off stage in everyday life. This guy was a bird lover the feathered kind. When I have seen him interviewed, he seemed a quite spoken, gentle natured, shy, kind , loving and caring.❤ not a big-headed, arrogant, cocky attitude from his head to his feet. This guy was beautiful inside and out, sooo chilled, sooo ,relaxed and at ease no matter who he talked to. A very, attractive, handsome, beautiful young man , what a looker, ❤ who died way too young. Heaven must have been missing a angel 😇 💔 that day because God only ever takes the best ❤❤❤❤❤😢😢😢😢😢😢😢

    Hello Paul,
you make walking around a grave yard such a knowledgeable and interesting experience!
I also liked the view of the commonwealth grave yard, which looks so tidy.
    Take care of yourself

The graves which are curved at the top are those of Dutch servicemen; there are about 250 of them. One of the graves that caught my eye was the one of the Bomber Command pilot who had a conventional grave rather than a Commonwealth war grave headstone.

First heard of Billy Fury when he was in the film "That'll Be The Day" playing the part of a singer in the band Stormy Tempest alongside drummer Keith Moon. Great film and what a voice too! #RIP Billy Fury 🖤

Any idea who was the pianist in Stormy Tempest? There’s no mention in the credits but I’m certain it’s Marty Wilde.

Respectfully done Paul, Billy Fury was a big favourite of my Mum. He was a talented guy and passed far too young. It was nice to see his grave so well maintained. May he R.I.P. 🙏

Many thanks again Paul, lovely video and a very interesting story. I was a big Billy Fury fan and still have several tracks of his on my iPod 1960s mix. Yes he was a very keen ornithologist but sadly didn’t enjoy good health throughout his career . He was a lovely man and it’s so good to see his grave and memory so well preserved. His music in that era was legendary but sadly I never got to see him live. Taken far too soon, RIP Billy .Thanks again Paul.

I only got to see Billy Fury sing live once but Oh what a handsome man, Elvis Presley is no comparison, Billy was a lovely person too and had such charisma as well as a lovely voice. An animal lover, gorgeous inside and out. Thanks for showing .
