      maybe that amount is okay. but its the amount of time on how to play like Tal you have to worry. Unfortunately no one can really teach you how to play like Tal but yourself. having a teacher wont approve this kind of playstyle today.

    Mato, I think you once speculated that Paul Keres only got to world #2 because he was Estonian and Russian chess authorities wanted one of their own players to be champion. Since then, I have wondered how Tal, as a Latvian, became the champion. I think I have discovered the answer, and it you can see it in games like this.
    Tal is not afraid to make bold sacrifices. So he tried for the championship, knowing that he might be sacrificing himself if the Russians became angry. The Russians consulted their best players, who warned that accepting Tal's sacrifices would often lead to losing in an unexpected way. So instead of capturing Tal, the Russians let him be World Champion.

    • @alexok8980
      @alexok8980 7 лет назад

      Latvia was under Soviet control at the time Tal became the World Champion.

    • @neilsinhababu9496
      @neilsinhababu9496 7 лет назад +2

      Yes, that's part of why it was so risky.
      Russia is only a subset of the former Soviet Union, which also included Ukraine, Baltic states like Latvia, and many Central Asian -stans.

    Tal missed a very beautiful move at 2:55. He could have moved the bishop to a5. If the queen ate the bishop, checkmate by knight to e6. Otherwise, Tal takes the queen!

      I think no one can really study how to play like the great Tal. you can see glimpses of very good attacking and sacrifices from todays GMs but not like Tal who do this from a daily basis. I'm kinda sad too. I want to see someone who would follow Tal's daring and dangerous footsteps. still no reincarnation of Tal yet.

  • @UnXPLO1Table

    @4:03 I looked for an extraordinary move :D In a long match, b4 may be OK to humiliate the opponent (seeing that White's queen is not en prise) and make them play scared in further games. It's only the 4th best move as per Stockfish 8, but White's queen is better than Black's undeveloped pieces and weak e-pawn, so White is still winning.

      The answer to your question is....
      Tal missed it.. after the next move he realized it's possible and went for it.. He pushed the pawn to deflect the Queen as it was a blitz game.. later discovered the beautiful combination and went ahead with it..
      Guyzz.. Tal is amazing..
      But still a Human being and bound to make mistakes..
