    Tal is the best thing that happened to chess IMO. Everytime I see a video of Tal from Mato I immediately watch it. Other players I kind of postpone or skip sometimes.
    He is the only player I know who has risked his wins to show the kind of strange and absurd possibilities in chess. Thanks Tal for making Chess so interesting. And thank you Mato for bringing these games to us. :)

      Yea he makes insane sacrifices, but Alekhine does crazier sacrifices too just like Tal, then Nezhmetdinov too

    Wow. This is a keeper. I'll bet that as he made move 22, Blek was licking his lips in anticipation of his "inevitable" endgame victory.
    Tal was what, 14 years old when he played this game? Amazing.

      There are many better players: Paul Keres, Rashid Nezhmetdinov, Petrosian, the list goes on.

    My dad travelled to Latvia on vacation today. I told him I only know about one Latvian person: a rather creative, imaginative and influential man. He doesn't care too much for chess however, but that's his loss.

    (After black rook stalling with checks, is again mat in 5 moves , but much clearer.

    before rooke to f8 tal could have opened with Knight takes pawn on e4 then push pawn f4 and open the white King side, black would be on defence, hoping to survive.

      Lawrence Lepes
      Alexander Alekhine played his last game in 1946. At that time Mikhail Tal was 10 so it's possible the did meet somewhere, but no official games seems to be on record...

    I like a5 ... tal has plenty of time to initiate his kingside pawn advance and the knight on b3 is poorly placed ... the bishop on c8 longs for a more active square as well. a5 is a bold alternative to a less clever pawn push on the b file.
