I wish Tal was born in 1990s. I would've liked to see him play against Magnus Carlsen. Mato's commentary would be like this... "Tal started with E4, and Carlsen reesssiiigggnnneeeddd, just unbelievable!" 😂
The Bishop move is unthinkable. After I've seen it, I had to pause to think "what is wrong with taking the Bishop?" for a long time and couldn't even get that answer. A better player might have found the answer, but to actually think to make that move takes a genius. Tal is missed a lot. After seeing the world championship I really needed a really good chess game to remember it is a fun sport. Thanks Mato
CodeLine 10 yes it's checkmate after Kc2 Rc8+ Kd3 Qb3# , or for those who like to suffer Kc2 Rc8+ Qc4 Rxc4+ bxc4 Qxc4+ Kb1 Qe4+ and chase the white cats...
Hi Mato, I'm a bit disappointed that you didnt make a video of a Taimanov (died on 28. November)game. I always have appreciated that you honored great chess players with a video of one of their best games. Wasnt Mark Taimanov a great chess player ? He lost 0:6 against Bobby Fischer but he played a lot fantastic games and opening variations are named after him in the Sicilian Defence, Modern Benoni and Nimzo-Indian Defence. On my opinion he was a great human being , pianist and chess player.
The point is win, either checkmate the opposing king or take the opponent queen. it's Tal's frame of mind that no opponent can predict Truly the bishop's sacrifice was a beautiful camouflage of Michael Tal, beautiful and deadly poison
At move 27, I wanted White to play a3. It closes the 'a' file, giving White time to stabilize. Sure enough, engine suggests it (and evaluates to a -0.x score, an even game). Whereas 27.axb3 is a blunder (-8.x). Black does his Q trap straight after. Threatening the K with immediate Qa7 or Qa5 is also good. Again though, it loses Black's light-square B. Perhaps Tal saw that and thought "It's a dead B anyway; better for it to die on e2".
In hindsight it was completely forced, but even now I see it, I still cant figure out how I would have decided that the queen was what I should have been going for, contemplating all variations to force win it.... But I am not Tal.
Mato Sir how simple you are. . Thanks for both of you Tal and mato two genius

Magnus would have driven crazy by Tal's creative and extremely complex gameplay and it would be a good fight I guess.
Magnus used to play like Tal when he was a teenager actually
No name you are exactly correct. He gave up that style because it creates an uncertainty in the performance with strong grandmaster s.:-)
Yes, when Tal was only 3 years old.
Actually, I wish Tal was born earlier, so he could have played against Alekhine.
The sacrifices that tal makes in his games go against all the logic of playing chess, truly mind blowing.
The Bishop move is blow my mind. thanks Mato, always love your voice and your smile.
A Tal Video!!! Mato, thanks for the early Christmas present!
Murder by Talicide! This special report has been brought to you by Mato. Thanks Mato I love your videos -Mark in Texas

Qlimax Dota i have a question regarding the second bishop sacrifice
Did the king HAVE to take the bishop?
CodeLine 10 yes it's checkmate after Kc2 Rc8+ Kd3 Qb3# , or for those who like to suffer Kc2 Rc8+ Qc4 Rxc4+ bxc4 Qxc4+ Kb1 Qe4+ and chase the white cats...
Hi Mato, Thanks for your videos! I especially enjoy the ones featuring Tal. Keep up the good work!

The point is win, either checkmate the opposing king or take the opponent queen.

Truly the bishop's sacrifice was a beautiful camouflage of Michael Tal,

I'll show you one variation that does work.
At 4:33, black Rc8+, Kd2, Bb4+ (not Qxb3+), Kd3, now Qxb3, mate.
not forced
Bb4 Ke3 and off he goes
Mato, it seems you also like tactical games too

the scrifice will work if the opponent cooperated.. if they dont???
At 5:00 there was a mate in 3 but I guess Tal wanted to enjoy his game a bit more
Richard Tio where?
Koji genije ovako postavlja tablu? Da su dole crni? Nerazumijem zašto?
Is chess useful in Military purposes nowadays .Mato? do u have any idea? thank u
I was in army for 14 months. Yes chess has purpose. Exercising mental muscles-the same as for civilians
+MatoJelic thank you
JNA?
I think the military uses chess masters and game theorists to help with a quite a few number of their plans
great thing about tal is he screwed opponents intentions in the opening forking two peices
"maybe....
-Definitely maybe!"
In hindsight it was completely forced, but even now I see it, I still cant figure out how I would have decided that the queen was what I should have been going for, contemplating all variations to force win it.... But I am not Tal.
3:12 funny man! ha ha! good one!
At 4:56 why white king doesn't simply go to d3?
Olasek

Makes sense, thanks
