My dream amp when I was 17 was a lanzar optidrive500
I did buy one new at cost from a dealer going out of business, I ran 2 15" original solobarics off it...
Wish I never parted with that set-up

I don't have a single dream amp right now but I'd say my list includes:
Old school Rockford Fosgate amps
Kicker 2500ZX (discontinued if I'm correct)
Orion HCCA amps
Other old school Kickers (I remember seeing ones with an lcd or something on them, not sure if it was a volt meter)
meade916 Masconi and Focal Utopia if I hit the lottery...
Oh yeah boi!! These old RF Power series were beasts! I tested the big boy Power 1000 MOSFET a while back and got over 2500 watts dynamic. Not bad from a "1000 watt" amp. Great test, keep them coming!

I had this amp running my whole system. Rear channel was a Power 15" sealed and two Punch 12's ported. Boston highs. Just the sight of this amp makes me happy.

I always wanted the USamps VLX 400 when I was younger. I ended up getting one when I was 20, didn't disappoint. It was capable of doing 3680 watts with .67 ohm load @13.89 Vdc set for dynamic power burst on SMD DYNO.
Loved that amp as well! Such a POWERHOUSE!

I was watching BigDWiz dyno the 1990 Rockford Fosgate Power 1000 MOSFET and it is impressive.
Oh yes, that amp killed it! My dream amp from back in the day, it retailed for $2699, just stupid expensive. You could get a new car for $3999 back then, albeit a POS Hyundai...still, gives you an idea how expensive it was
Rockford Fosgate Power 650 was my dream amp in 1988. Now I have 6 new in the Rockford box a audio shop went out of business packed up shop and forgot they had them. And my dream amp now is the Fosgate 15K just pick it up about 3 months ago.

I had two of the chrome power 1000's, back in the day..sold one in early 2000's ...still have one and it will never leave my hands...I worked overtime and double time for a solid year to buy them back in the day.....
Guys, I've heard people give Rockford shit about being "overpriced" among other things, with recommendations of other amps thrown around, but Rockford had been doing this forever, so whether it's the baseline prime series or the power series, you don't just get the rated power, you get longevity. Many amps may put out more power for the price, but component selection might cause them to go out sooner.
I can speak from experience that the prime line is an amazing lineup, I've abused several prime amps in all conditions and they've never failed yet.
And I also have experience (although more limited) with the punch 4 channels. Mine sounds good and also has weathered time fairly well.
Personally, I've always had a soft spot for Kenwood because they were my first, but for selection and quality amp side, Rockford won't ever let you down.
Oh, and I like JL, they spendy tho lol

That Power 300 brings back a lot of memories, we used to hook those up in South Sac, hooking up the ghetto beat! I believe that amp was $999 new back in the day and that Power 650 was $1500. But if you wanted the tremendous slam, you went with a Hifonics Zeus 900 watts mono, or if you were ballin, the Colossus 1800 watts.

Still got the dream amp. Ma audio hk2000d and m1286i 2 channel. Liked these amps but now that i have run fosgate i will stay with them. Thanks for what you do steve
Man o' man....another great video! An 'ol school bass head myself, I'd have to say these were my dream amps...Power 650 and 300! Don't get me wrong, I was a fan of Orion and Precision Power back in the day but there was something about that Rockford P-U-N-C-H and heart-stopping Fosgate POWER that was a game changer for me. I've been a fan ever since. To date I own over 18 amps.....collected over the years. Besides the Elites, Series from the early 2000's, the Power 650 and 300 models from the late 80's and early 90's are still the crown jewels of my collection! Keep up the good work! JMc from Big D

Can't go wrong with Fosgate amps, been lovin to their amps and subs since the late 80's during the Minitruckin Scene in Nor Cal.
I remember when that amp came out, and I still remember the MSRP for it, $2000 and the 650 was $2500.
That is a TON of power, especially when that amp came out back in the day!!

Niiiiiice!! I had two of those Mosfet 300s in my 89' Geo Tracker powering 2 RF 12" Pros and 2 RF 10" Pros. I couldn't keep from blowing fuses though, so I wrapped some copper wire around them. It hit around 128db in competition. The thing got stolen and burned on some railroad tracks. Never did put a real system in any car I had since.
When I was growing up the Kicker ZX1000 was the amplifier I thought had it going on. Loved the grill look! The new sundown ns1's look pretty damn nice nowadays!
I had this amp. One Power 15 and two Punch 12's running off rear channel (mono/stereo). I had a Chevy Z24 and had to build the box inside the trunk. I ran Boston Acoustic for my highs. Very crisp, clean sound.
Fun ch. every song playing in background was a favorite. Love the test cart with the deck and connections and Dino, really neat ch. +1 subscriber.

That Power 650 with chrome shroud and red lettering 🤤 . That was also one of my dream Amos back in the day. Can’t wait to see the dyno numbers one that beast. Also loved the PPI art series stuff, I have 2 AX606.2 in my trunk and the SQ is fantastic
my dream amp is the kicker Kx 850.2 I have seen it at a local pawn shop for the last 10 or 15 years and still brand new. Imma wait until after the holidays to get it. gotta go shopping for the family. lol

Back in the 90's, I had a power 300 , running 2 -15inch punch pro series woofers , rear channel bridged, it hit extremely hard, headaches came with that.

1trucavalier around 1999 my neighbor bought a car had a punch 60ix and a 12 inch magma. he was not into car audio he knew I was so he gave it to me for free! I still have both and I still get a little grin now and agian.
I remember running4 of these on 8 15in subs . with the cover off they look like linear 500 amps. I ran 4 mc 500 soundstreams on 8 ss8 and 2 ss18 soundstreams. Oh the good old days

Dream amp was about anything mmats or rockford. I have since had a mmat d200hc and a couple old rockfors punch. Keep in mind I'm 25 so the amps i have wanted was early 2000s. I currently have a couple older orions. Including a 1st gen 280gx and cobalt 430 along with some other amps of different brands sitting on a shelf in my garage.

I loved my 650’s running 4 punch 12’s and RF 3 way components up front in my Nissan Hardbody..All in the extra cab…The test at 14 volts vs 12 volts that amp would still put out huge numbers….
Yeah back in the late 80's early 90's I ran 3 on 6 12's and was decimating at car shows. Every one said I moddwd the amps or was using the case from a bigger amp. Honestly they were straight from the box wrapped in plastic to the amp board in my Isuzu space cab. It was one of the hardest hitting systems in a cab. The only guys that beat me were running boxes the entire size of the truck bs d under snug tops. Hot setup came out a few years later and I got a sponsor from them and was let down a bit. Had a motorcycle wreck and had to sell off my truck and didn't get back into big systems until a few years back when my boys started to drive and no way were they going to get the boom louder than their pops. Lol

I have a 1K I'm probably putting on Ebay in the next week or 2. Been sitting in the attic. Think it has one channel out, but probably a very easy fix for anyone that knows about electronics.

Love it! Old American power out of Arizona, ppi, orion, fosqate, all killed it back on the day, .... remember the gold orion amps, sexy, or the ppi 2350dm, payed over 1200 for a new 2150 in late 80s, so worth it, an still have a ppi 2050 am rockin,
and as a matter of fact I have an Alpine 7307 that still works. That changed the car audio world.

My DREAM Amp would be the Early 90's " Phoenix Gold ms1000 Limited Edition " That thing is INSANELY AWSOME. Waaaaaayyyyyyy above my pay grade. The Amp I loved the most that I've owned would have to be the Diamond Audio D7104, & D7402 mk2 from Esoteric Audio back in 2002.😍😍😍

I have white shrouded power 300 and a crossover blew ,and bass and treble knobs went up,I had it all fixed just need knobs to buy on line and amp is looking good for how old it is ,I had it in a competition car with crossovers oeq1 ,center channel ,2 power 412's in plexiglass box with purple tanza LEDs outlining whole amp rack and subs ,it looked great,only set back in the 80's was the alternator whine from audio control enhancer ,we had to bypass after install,but I would say today's audio control line is getting good reviews.i was hitting about 125 to 130 db and my car was a sound quality set up.

For your next amp test Tuesday please dyno and audiobahn amp. One of the old high current series. My dad just got an old beat up one off eBay. Audiobahn is our dream amp only second to the t-series fosgate. But I am super happy with our $80 dollar beat up amp.

Man, I remember when amps cost an arm and a leg. I had a chrome Kenwood 650 watt amp with two analog blue lighted output gauges on the front that powered my two JL Audio W-0 15s back in the day and they hit pretty hard. I remember paying $500 for that amp back then. I just bought an Orion HCCA 3K watt amp (capable of well over 10k watts as proven by BigDWiz on his amp dyno) for $700 to power my four Sundown Audio SA-12D2s in my Accord and it SLAMS them.
That's what we called these back in the day "cheater amps"... Memories

You should see if you can get your hands on a db drive euphoria m2000 amp and dyno test it. I’m running one with their ewx 12s and would love to see what it puts out on the dyno

Got a real kick from your video. I was there, actually Linear Power set the stage for USA amps and I still have an LP 1001. I have 2 RF 300's in my cars to this day that will smoke all things, it was basically 2 RF 150's smacked together with fan coolng as you soon figured out. Fuse protection was brilliant for all of us installers back then. 650's where not as bullet proof as the 300's.
+meade916 I'm just curious was it a 1khz tone during the Certified and Uncertified and then 40hz for the Dynamic Burst run?... Or do you use a different test tone disc on the AD-1 then the one that comes with the DD-1? Thx

Mtx audio 1501d from 2003 or 2005. I just buy this amp the last year for $150 dollar its my dream amp. And other jl audio amp but this mtx 1501d its especial for me because back then i dont have the money.
You should run this and a modern amp of similar specs in stereo, full range, to a set of home or pa speakers, and see which sounds better.
