  • Nope statement I know but I stand by it. More of an objective assessment than an opinion. Once you see the features and the build quality, I’m sure you’ll agree too.
    Not a budget but priced as if it were one. You can get it from AliExpress for about $127 shipped or Amazon for about $200.

    • @Funcentric
      @Funcentric  Год назад +3

      If this is your first RC, note that that's something built into the ESC. Some ESC's on cars are designed that way to prevent the gears from stripping when people try to go full forward and then immediately full back. Majority of them have a pause before it allows you to go the opposite direction. Some ESC's (not this one) are programmable to allow you to change that or even limit to go only forward (for track racing where going backwards isn't allowed).

    I guess my main concern on ANY and ALL RC cars, trucks, planes, boats, pretty much anything RC is replacement part availability. Hobby grade means being able to replace broken or worn parts when they happen. I have two Dromida brand Truggies and have to purchase whole used ones on E- Bay to keep them going because parts are becoming hard to find for them. Traxxas does sell a 1/16 scale line that runs on 3 C batteries. I have the E- Revo 1/16 scale and it's a beast. That doesn't mean I wouldn't write this car off. It looks like a well built vehicle.

    • @Funcentric
      @Funcentric  Год назад +1

      Traxxas as a company is trash. I can't support a company that rakes up prices to insane numbers and files law suits left and right to companies supporting their aftermarket parts. If you're going to support a company of that caliber, I'd say Arrma.
      As for parts availability, check out HBX / Haiboxing. They have Facebook Groups support too. It's the only Chinese company I know of that actually responds to USA customers, provides legit promotions and support.
      I hadn't heard of Dromida, but did a quick search and it looks very inferior to HBX products. I think you'll like HBX a lot. Much better value. Many of their cars are brushless and come with oil filled shocks. All come with LED lights and majority of them come with an extra battery, generally lithium of some variety whether it be Li-Ion or Lipo. Worth a look.

    • @scottfirman
      @scottfirman 3 месяца назад

      Everyone is entitled to their opinion concerning Traxxas. Do they NOT have the right to protect their brand? If you were a major brand producer and someone was cutting into your profits, don't tell me you wouldn't do everything in your power to protect your interests. As far as price, dude. It is a HOBBY. If you want to go cheap, go home. I fly RC planes as well, and I can tell you, Horizon Hobby puts junk servos in all their planes. That doesn't stop people from buying their planes. I put metal geared servos in all my RC stuff. Again, access to parts is EVERYTHING in this hobby. Bashing and breaking things is the norm on RC vehicles. The joke in the RC Plane world is every plane has an expiration date built in. Sooner or later, that plane will crash beyond repair. I accept that Traxxas has its issue, as well as Horizon. Unless you plan on producing your own Hobby grade RC vehicles and selling them, that's the way the ball bounces. Looking forward to your review on this company in 2- 5 years. Mabe they will bring back the Dromida brand too eh? I doubt that.

      I wouldn’t know. I usually don’t allow it to get down to a point where it cuts off. I assume it does have a LVC, but will probably be lower than I’d feel comfortable. I usually stop around 3.65-3.80v per cell in general for all rc’s.

Excellent value if you can get it for that price. The benefit of HBX over MJX is the customer service and support. HBX is the best as far as that's concerned for budget vehicles. You won't find a better Chinese company that responds or responds at all to inquiries.
      If you're new, I would suggest the HBX over the MJX. Join the Haiboxing Facebook group for support from not just other customers, but from the company reps themselves.
      HBX parts are also easier to get than MJX. Durability of HBX products have been tested and confirmed whereas the MJX is solid, it doesn't have as much exposure and therefore not as many people own them and talk about them.

      Hmmm, I have run through at least 70 packs through mine and no issues. I do have a friend that runs it crazy hard and I do get concerned about the diffs. But no issues as of yet. On 3S, the internals do handle better than the HBX 16889A pro. For that, it’s designed for 2S.

    How long does it drive for on one battery?

    • @Funcentric
      @Funcentric  Год назад +1

      Hard to say. I don't run it dry. Usually until about storage charge level of 3.80v per cell. It runs for maybe 15 minutes before noticeable power decrease. It really depends on how you drive though of course. Generally most rc cars if sized appropriately with the battery, the match should be about 15-20 minutes.

      @@Funcentric alright, 2 more questions:
      1. According to the stats for the brushed version, the monster truck has 1cm extra ground clearance compared to the buggy/truggy. Is this the same for the brushless versions (you seem to have both)?
      2. If your two models DO have different ride heights, then how is this possible? Different wheels and/or suspension arms?

      @@KidNomura It's not something people typically do, but I suppose you can. It would still need to air out though. The heat needs to dissipate somehow. I wouldn't really worry about it that much though. Some puddles should be okay as the body secures pretty well to the chassis.
