Have a great Sunday!
You should definitely do the RJ while you get the chance! 👏🏻
Paul your videos are amazing and definitely deserves more credit! I have a suggestion for you : fly to Russia and take the direct train all the way to Pyongyang North Korea operated by a single carriage of the North Korean state railway departing from Moscow. You can also fly domestic inside North Korea afterwards! In my point of view this is the most secretive and rare trip in the world!
Paul, many thanks for the tip at he end, I see the ‘white’ Cityflyer Embraers all the time in Rotterdam but never could be bothered spending my Avios on Club Europe to LCY as I somehow always ended up in the regular BA aircraft.
Hi.
I really love your videos.
Just wanted to ask, which camera and editing software do you use for making videos?
Wow, so that's where our VA E-Jets ended up. We loved them here in Australia, so comfortable - even in Y.
You just had to say Australia to get my like
There are at least half a dozen of them at the Embraer facility in Nashville, Tennessee.......still in VA colours they look like they’re a long way from home.
@Ray Johnson Not for now. The 737MAX have been pushed back to 2021, if ever. Stuck with an increasingly-tired 737 fleet operated by an airline that is bleeding money.
Totally agree. I miss the VA Embraer so comfortable, even in economy. Even with the 2 by 2 leather seats.
RIP virgin Australia
Flew this plane two months ago. Stobart Air also has a great crew. Very kind and professional.
Aaah, that brings back memories. VA crew here and I loved working on the E190’s. the guests were always so comfortable making our day that much easier. No doubt I spent a lot of time on that very machine. It’s a shame we don’t have them any more. Thanks for the video.
I miss our e-jets so much. They were so much fun to work on, and I’m so happy that they’re still out there doing a great job. Thanks for showing us what they are up to!
Hi Paul, great video. Love the insight into London City Airport. Good to see the old Virgins still getting a run! :) cheers D
Really cool video as usual Paul!
Another good Business class within Europe would be LATAM on the 787 service from MAD to FRA with a full flat bed :D
Great stuff, Paul! I really enjoy your content and your delivery style. It’s objective, which I think is really important in reviews. Keep up the great work!
Thanks for talking about the aircraft performance. It adds another element to an airline review that I really enjoy. Great video as always, Paul!
That LCY-SHA*-JFK flight utilities the flight number BA1 and the callsign ‘Speedbird One’. Both previously used by the flagship London-New York route that was operated by Concorde.
* Actually SNN
I rather miss the Concordes, even though they were so LOUD! I keep hearing that someone is going to make a next-gen type of Concorde plane. Wish they'd hurry up.
ecclestonsangel I hate to disappoint, but I think the halcyon days of super sonic air travel are long gone for now. The reason that the Concorde was unsustainable was due to the requirements for the shockwave to take place over water rather than land. With the volume of air travel that many shockwaves over land would be awful. Until the solve that problem it’s .80 Mach travel for the duration.
On the A318s
Ecclestone
I think Space X will do inter orbit flights. Elon was talking about this recently.
SNN not SHA
Another great vid Paul. Very informative and helpful. Thanks again.
Fascinating vid this morning; learned about some unique London history, a unique airport, and a unique flight configuration. Keep up the excellent and unique work Paul!
LCY ( London City) is an AVGeek Favourite tbh. It's pretty restricted in aircraft types that can even use the place due to the runway length and the step descent paths needed( and a few other factors on top). I think BA have a couple of landing videos for the airport which are only short but give you a pilots eye view of the approach lineups and landings.
Another fan fave is the LCY-JFK all business BA flight on an A318 which is affectionately called the BabyBus ( @paul referenced it in his video). The stop in Shannon is to top up the tanks otherwise the plane literally can't make it across the atlantic. What makes that stop even more interesting is that there is a US Border Point specifically for this flight at Shannon. Everybody is rescreened and cleared to enter the US from there and the flight actually arrives as a US Domestic flight at JFK.
LCY, and the Docklands in general, has a ton of interesting history behind it and it's well worth doing some looking into.
Those are some airplane movements I’ve rarely seen. Great footage!!
Wow, that is so incredibly cool that one of Virgin Australia's Embraers are now operating into London City! Would never have imagined... And it's crazy the cabin is unchanged. Great video.
Love these flights with real business call in Europe!
I flew that exact aircraft from Adelaide to Canberra back in the day. Such a shame Virgin Australia got rid of them.
Awesome video Paul!
Nice to see proper business class seats in Europe. I flew economy on TAP Portugal on their A321NEO from LGW-LIS-LGW last week. When I got onboard I was pleasantly surprised to see proper 2-2 business class seats installed, will definitely upgrade next time round.
This was such an interesting video, and I really enjoyed the extra facts about London, thank you!!👏🏻👏🏻
Wow, nice breakfast. If the airlines here in the U.S. get any more greedy, the passengers will have to bring peanuts for the flight crew : )
@storhet
You know...
One way of becoming profitable is to overcharge and give shit products aka Apple!!
@storhet that's great for the airline but what about the customers and staff crammed onto the airplane? Last time I checked we are humans, not numbers and dashes.
@@jazzip That human thing stopped about 1987.
😝
Stobart Air also lease to KLM Paul as I travel from NWI to AMS regularly and for the past 2 months every flight has been Stobart.
I love these quirky flights and that "real" business class is definitely a very rare sight in Europe! Also, you've just got to admire that beautiful Swiss A220-100 at 1:48, I cannot wait to try that aircraft myself. Anyway, once again a wonderful video!
The A220 is such a beautiful aircraft - I love it!
I thought Swiss continue to call them CS100😅?
I want to try that ERJ-190 of LOT too...
I flew on the A220-100 from Zürich to LCY last February and loved it. The speed is great and its actually so quiet (or maybe that was because I came from Bremen on a turbo prop machine earlier and it was actually just the difference)
Sad to have missed you I am a BA boarding agent at LCY you flew on my day off! G-EUNA has now had a fresh lick of paint and is looking brand new, no longer an embarrassment when the passengers get their first look at their crazy expensive ride to New York.
I sat in 2A between MEL/SYD on a Virgin Australia Embraer 190. I do like the Embraer E-Jets as regional jets.
I like the history of the airports that you visit and the surrounding areas in detail Paul! 😁
Your very informative on all your videos! 📚 ✅
Thanks for all the research that you put into them! 👍
I cannot believe you got that breakfast (or any meal service) on such a short flight. It really looked good! Amazing video as always from you - Entertaining and so informative.
Great video! Flown from LCY once on the Cardiff flight when it was operating. The flight was at 7pm and from the window you could see London all lit up and I had a wonderful view of the Olympic stadium!
Very cool. Great footage. Thanks!
Never seen your videos before but WOW, that was so informative. Thank you!
Great video! I've watched a lot of your videos lately and I love the way how you turned your passion (which I can see in your face and hear in your voice in the videos!) into your job. Your sincerity is what makes this channel stand out from other travel vlogs for me. Thanks from The Netherlands!
Another fantastic trip report Paul! Well done
Virgin Australia is such an underrated airline. Flown them many times✈️. Nice Video by the way👍
I don't fly QANTAS anymore. Virgin are sensational!
Both Austrailan major airlines are crap to be honest. Both arrogant, overpriced, gouging and think they are the bee's knees. They ain't!
Adrian Salvatore I fly virgin over qantas domestically. I have never had a bad experience with virgin, even on their older interior fit planes. Always clean, fantastic crew, good little snacks, I’ve never been delayed without very clear reason, when I was in a moon boot for a broken leg they upgraded me to economy x for no extra costs due to a glitch they had when I did try to book it. All in all a really fair priced and great airline!
Qantas v. Virgin Australia depends on the route and class. MOST flights between Perth (Australia) and East coast have flat beds in business class on Qantas but only normal seats on Virgin.
i use all virgin travel and tv and stuff. quite a good company
I flew into London City Airport from Amsterdam some years ago and the flight over London was spectacular. The plane did a turn around the Shard to line up for landing and I felt that I could put my hand out and shake the hands of the people in that building. A great way to enter London and recommended even as a "joy flight" .
That is a really nice short haul Business class. That is the equivalent of a First Class between LAX and DC area except for the food.
Don't you mean LAX to San Jose? It's 306 miles and about an hour. LAX to Dulles is about 4.5 hours.
Great show Paul the first and only time I flew CP was from Singapore to Hong Kong via Bangkok in ‘68 just brilliant
I thoroughly enjoy your flight reviews. They are put together so well.
Quite possibly my favourite flight vlogger on RUclips!
I’ve been aboard that same aircraft when it was operated by Virgin Australia
I really like this new video format ! Can really see that you have put a lot of effort in this video and I love it !!!
Brilliant Video keep up the good work Paul I always look forward to your videos
hey Paul. just finished 6 days in London this week sightseeing. I rearranged my itinerary through AMS just so I could arrive and depart my trip via LCY.
was anxious to see it, the steeper glideslope, shorter runway. no taxiways, possibility of descent---yes it was great coming in over the Shard and Tower Bridge for the landing. got some great video.
it is a unique place.
Awesome video Paul. Informative and entertaining as usual. 👍🏻
Fascinating video. Thanks for the first-hand view as well as the substantive information about the airport's history
Excellent video Paul...best look at London City I've ever seen! 😎👍
Very informative. Great video Paul ☺️
Great video as always! I liked the tips about how to book the "secret" business class and especially the little bit of history about London City Airport.
Wingin’ It! Paul Lucas, thanks for that, the plane are now leased to flybe, I took one from Edinburgh to London city, booked middle option with reserve x legroom and which included my hold bag, then booked aspire lounge, I bought a snackbox and drink with coffee and shortbread, to give myself the full business class experience. Gotta say really great flight and it didn’t cost too much.
Great experience with a good airport in Edinburgh.
Loved flying the e-jets with VA! Especially in J..... single seat please! Haha
So much better than the ATRs they use now for many routes
Another great video Paul!! Hope all is well, take care
I’ve flown on one of those before. Rotterdam to London city airport during a bad snow storm and I can tell you that it was one of the best flights I’ve ever been one, super steady and comfortable.
Great detail to history, and flight review, as usually 👍
Amazing video Paul!
Amazing quality video as usual. So good. You should be in the TV.
In March I lost my Ryanair flight to Dublin over slept and woke up 8am so went on BA's website and got the next flight to Dublin and the only seats left were business so got them and it was really nice that same seat as you were seated I was seated there.
Your gain is our loss as I fly all the time with Virgin Australia and the Embraer was always one of my favourite airlines in Business Class with the excellent seating especially in the single seats...and the breakfast looked great ! Well done as always Paul....more please!!
Awesome video!! Keep up the good work!! What is the calm and sooting background music that you have used??
Incredible video. Great work on your reports man.
Canary Wharf is very cool, recently stayed at the Marriott there for 2 weeks, the DLR right there makes getting around very convenient. Gotta love Lobster and Burgers
I live in aus and loved seeing the va planes that u r on. They were so nice to fly on
Wow, that breakfast isn’t bad! Nice fruit plate, a croissant, and a hot plate. That’s wonderful! You’re right that the service in Europe is way better. Makes the whole experience a lot nicer. In a few months, my family will be traveling from New York to Hawaii. It’s over 12 hours long but because it’s domestic, no food is served; you’d have to buy it. Yuck.
Hi. What airline are u taking to Hawaii?
Why I like your channel, because you do not make flightreports of flightreviews. You make personal experiencereviews with a bit of history. I like that.
Paul thanks for showing us LCY through a lens. Lovely take off and climb view of central London. Breakfast looked delicious. 👍🏻
Nice vid! I fly out of LCY regularly but didn't even know the Stobart-operated flights had this!
I love LCY. I once did HKG to LCY via AMS, and getting home meant a car journey of less than 20 minutes.
Now operating for Flybe on the Belfast City - London City route (BHD-LCY).
06:45 BHD - LCY
13:40 BHD - LCY
17:35 BHD - LCY
That looks awesome vid hope you have a great flight Paul. 😁✈️👍
Fly the KLM Embraers (used to be fokker 70s) in and out of Norwich regularly, it's a pretty short runway and with the usual weather it's basically always a full thrust takeoff. Those things really are quick off the blocks.
Wow! Thought I knew City Airport quite well. Gotta take this flight. Thanks for an excellent video Paul.
Really love your voice and tone, they make your videos even better
Great video Paul. Loads of interesting info.
Nice to know fact is that stobart air also leases 2 E190s to KLM!
I’ve been on this plane yesterday on the flight to Munich! Seat 1A, very nice. The BA food was dreadful though, even if judged by economy standards, but the crew was very good.
another great video. keep up the great work
You have the best Job in the world. I am really enjoying watching your playlists.
You're an excellent journalist, great vlogs.
Great video Paul!!!
Worth the nearly two week wait. Looks a like real gem of a flight. Also helped by beautiful filming and great post-production.
Howdy, awesome trip report as always!😸😸
Great video Paul. Thank you.
I flew business class in the E190 when it was with Virgin Australia from Brisbane to Adelaide. It actually might've been this exact aircraft 😝
Great video, appreciate the “How to find” tip at the end too.
I love LCY. I flew TAP from LCY to LIS and back last year and am doing the same this July. I flew the route last year on the second week of the TAP Lisbon to London City service, and the pilot messed up the parking at LCY so we had to turn round again. It was quite funny as you could see the people in the terminal watching you as the pilot messes up parking the aircraft. Lol
I loved the E-jets here with DJ/VA in Oz, was a shame to see them go, the Y cabin had some of the best seating, whilst i found the J fun with the single seats
Loved the report Paul. Thanks for including the areial views of Anglesey. Was raised there but now living in ROI for the past 29 years. I always try and choose a LHS seat when I'm flying back to DUB from Northern UK so I can also look at Anglesey's coastline and both bridges on the Menai Strait with a slight feeling of "hiraeth" - Welsh word for "longing".
Stobart Air have been known to operate a LCY to AMS flight, as well as the flight to Rotterdam.
Love your videos Paul, the best thing is your very informative and another thing is your not cheesy like most of them.
I watched a few Jeb Brookes and that guy is soooo cheesy its unreal and it irritates me at the end where a little screen pops up and he goes see you in the sky.
Keep it up mate your the best plane vlogger by far.
Wonderful Paul. Keep it up!
I flew on that very airframe less than a month ago to Geneva! Very rare indeed to see a proper single-aisle business class in Europe!
Brilliant! Missed you, boss!
Excellent Paul - I'll look into travelling BA / Stobart Air - thanks for the tip.
I just enjoyed the high definition & clear weather flight, of course as well as th usual in depth info :)
Great to see where VAs E190s ended up!!
The Virgin Australia E190 was the first plane i flew business class on! Sadly, they were retired by VA only a month after i caught that flight in November 2017.
I remember doing this flight in February, and was quite surprised when alI had a plain white Stobart Air Embraer 170 on it, cabin crew were friendly too!
I’m Irish, but living in Australia. I have status with VA, so it’s quite funny watching you board a VA aircraft with the purple plexiglass on one of my old routes back to Ireland. Quite surreal, but I enjoyed it very much!
City airport is no doubt the best airport in England. Everything is smooth. And people just don’t go there for the airport 😂 I live in east London my self.
Euann AC Southend is good
Thank you for sharing another great video !
Great content as always!
I as a Canadian can learn about British history without leaving the comfort of my living room. Thank you
great info! subbed!
Hi.
I really love your videos.
Just wanted to ask, which camera and editing software do you use for making videos?
Great vid. I was expecting a negative review but was happily surprised,
