This is a re-working of Bukka White's song Shake 'Em On Down that was recorded in 1937 so at that time, yes, $20 would have been a good amount of money. Roy Harper is an English folk singer who was a friend of Jimmy and Robert. They said Roy always recorded/performed the way he wanted instead of how the record companies wanted so they said "Hats off to anyone who isn't a sell-out". You may have already heard Roy Harper's singing and not known it; if you ever listened to Pink Floyd's song Have A Cigar, that's Roy singing lead because Roger Waters' voice was shot.
You took us to school on this (well me anyway)! Thank you ✌️❤️
LED ZEPPELIN are the Undisputed TITANS of Rock and Roll... in a World of Rock Legends Led Zeppelin are the GIANTS... Classic Blues, Psychedelic Blues, Hard Rock, Heavy Metal, Gospel Rock, Folk Music, Reggae, 50s Rock, Country Music, Acid Rock and Progressive Rock... the One and Only Led Zeppelin did it All!
I actually like 3 very much. Shows a lot of diversity.
Q
best album.
Every song they did was MAGNIFICENT!
Led 4 Led 4 Led 4 woop woop ✌❤🤘
YES!!!!!!!!!! WooooooHoooooo … buh-bye Led III …. HELLO Led IV!!!!! Oh, hold on …
Great review 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Haha … now, Led III has it’s moments, for me personally, I just prefer Led IV 🤷♀️ and I am soooooooo excited that we are finally there!!!! I am so looking forward to hearing what you think about IV!!!
Don’t nobody do it like you 💯!!! You are THE BEST BIZ!!!!
Thank you so much fam 💞
This jam is so underrated!!!!!! Hats Offff!!!
Roy Harper is the guy who sang on Pink Floyd's "Have a Cigar" if you didn't know.
3 is fantastic and colorful is a great word to describe it. You cannot forget about 'since ive been loving you' as it is easily one of, if not the best zeppelin song. This song in particular has a heavy folk vibe and i love the shout out to Roy Harper. Roy Harper is the only person in the world to get their own zeppelin song and i think thats pretty special.
Eeek. If that’s their best song to you, stick to blues and not rock and roll.
Good one BizMatik! The thing I like about Zeppelin, besides just being kickass, is every album is unique in its sound. It's like having a bunch of kids. You love em all, but each one has their own personality.
Anyway, it's cool watching your Journey brah. 🤙 ☮
Great reaction and you said this whole song was basically Jimmy and Robert playing off each other.... They did that A LOT in Live performances!! One of the best examples (and you missed seeing it cuz you did the official vid and not the "Live" version) is when Jimmy does a Theremin solo (German Sonic Wave Antenna) in the Live at Madison Square Garden performance of "Whole Lotta Love"....
What Jimmy does with the Theremin is really cool and then he and Robert "play" with each other!! Hehe!!! I'm not gonna explain it, you just have to see it.... even if just for yourself...... check it out! You have to see that kind of thing at least once in your life!!
Can't wait for Led Zeppelin IV!!!! Peace...
The first zeppelin I actually bought was 3. I think it's amazing. I always loved this song. Such a classic blues vibe
The diversity of this album - following the power, energy and thunder of the first two albums - is what led to the greatness of the albums that followed. Light and Shade - that is Led Zeppelin. TY.
This is as pure as music gets.
Led Zeppelin 3 was the Acoustical Album and it was an Absolute Masterpiece... although "Immigrant Song" was the Leading Single and was 1 of the Greatest Rock songs of All-Time this is still Led Zeppelin's Acoustic Masterpiece of Blues and Folk songs. "Since I've Been Loving You" and "Hats Off To Roy Harper" are 2 of the Greatest Blues Songs of All-Time and the various Folk Songs are just as Great! "Bron 'y Aur Stomp" is based upon Old English Folk and there isn't a person alive who can hear it and not feel the beat and tap their feet! Look for the Live at Earls Court version of this song
B4 you continue with the 4th album, you should react to “Hey Hey What Can I Do” as it was the B side to the Immigrant Song, and it didn’t make the album but it’s a great song nonetheless!
The Battle Of Evermore next.
1st time listener to this channel...last time listener as well
Please do Led Zepplin song HEY HEY WHAT CAN I DO....a classic that was only on the B-side of a 45 RPM single.. never on a LP..very hard to get back in the day.
All in its time. He ll get to it when he gets to Coda
As a side note for biz the song mentioned was conceived during bron ur aur sessions if im not mistaken and released as a b side to immigrant song and left off of led iii. Not released until the final album
@@timmyd2820 Agree... patience @stanley nykaza, we're with ya bro..... Let's let Biz get through the 8 studio albums and then trust me, we'll all join in and lead him down the path to all the other stuff Zep has out there! Lol!!
Love this song -- but, like you said, you have to be in a certain chill mood to appreciate it.
Zeppelin is NEVER a chore
One of my top 4 favorite numbered Zepp albums(there only 4) #1 favorite is Physical Grafiti tho! Glad I found your page, can't wait to check out more of these
glad your back!
P.S. Zep II and their 8th and final studio album, "In Through The Out Door" are my absolute favorites.... Zep II probably cuz by then, they had found their "groove" with each other and had their formula "down" (IMO) and their 8th album is special. It's a lot different. Partly cuz they were 10 yrs older so they had matured, but also because:
1) it was their first album recorded after the tragic and unexpected death of Robert's 5 y/o old son Karac (while Zeppelin was in the U.S. in New Orleans) Robert wrote song #6. "ALL OF MY LOVE" for his son Karac.... it's beautiful!
Yoo!! Lets fucking go. Waiting for led 4!
Some of the songs off that album sound better live tho keep that in mind.
Led iii is wonderful. Immigrant song, since ive been loving you, tangerine, thats the way, the whole bron yr uar vibe. What else can you ask for. Friends is an interesting snippet, out on the tiles is something bonzo used to say...
Almost forgot celebration day.
You did forget Hats Off to (Roy) Harper ;-)
@@fewwiggle i also forgot gallows pole
Dirty, Raw. ❤
Oh shit!! I gotta clean my room before I go out!? 😆
In the early 70s $20- was a lot of money. Candy bar 15 cents, cigarettes 25 cents and a gallon of gas was what? 40 cents. A can of pop from the vending machine was only a quarter.
YES, DO TEA FOR ONE!!
💯🎸 Hi "Led Head" BizMatik‼🔥
I was 9 years old when that song and album came and yes 20 dollar bill buy some action. Good job with the video man. That always has been my jam when it ain't right between me and my lady. White boy blues but it's alright.
Thanks. Forgot about this one. I like it more now than when it first came out.
Yeah, you definitely need to listen to "Have a Cigar" by Pink Floyd!
I had always assumed that it was Roger Waters doing the vocals on that song, but a friend recently mentioned that it was Roy Harper!
The lyrics in Have a Cigar are really great, it's a brilliant commentary on the music business.
Lines like "The band is just fantastic, that is really what I think... Oh by the way, which one's Pink?" gives you a taste of the healthy cynicism in the song.
Interesting Zeppelin fact, they were one of the first bands to make their records specifically so that the acoustics and the vocals would split between the right and left headphone
🎸💯 🤯 🔥‼🤟
Diversity is talent. These guys just plain have it, and I agree this aint what you bargained for when you listened to it the first time. I would also like to recommend to you Stop by the James gang it totally jams 70's style
Inspired by Bukka Whites ......" Shake `em on down"....
$20 was a lot when Bukka wrote it
Jimmy was using a bottleneck slide on a 12 string, the song is a reworking of a Delta blues song by Bukks White called ‘Shake 'Em On Down’

Listen to The Crunge off of House's of the Holy album
That's a chore I would love.
Btw, I really think you're on the money doing these great artists album by album. ❤✌
😁💗🤘
Jimmy Page...................................
Might be the one Zep album cut that I skip religiously. Cool recording, glad I got to hear it, not something I care to remember every nuance of though. The context of it is everything. Like you said, taking III all the way through takes a certain mood because it's so varied.
Led was blues, the Clash was raggae, even if it makes old white people mad.
