No they get out of their own way very well, having driven a few generations of them either on test drives or borrowing it from a friend. though I agree they defiantly should turn up the HP a bit from the factory.
My 2 biggest gripes about the GT-R is:
1: the price.. when it launched fit was truly best bang for the buck being below 100K for mid tier and like 60-70K for the “core” model (base). Now a days at well north of $100K starting price, a gently used McLaren looks increasingly appealing.
      2. The visibility out of the car makes it feel massive, more massive than it really is. Yes it’s heavy full size car, but it feel way bigger when really can’t see around it’s hips or it’s rear end very well. And really can’t see anyone behind you very well.. my same friend also owns a lambo aventador and if front end fits then rest of the car will, it feels easier to manage in tight spaces. The GT-R has child baring hips, the ass end is wider than front end, so just because the front end fits doesn’t mean the rest of the car will follow. Also lambo had blind spot monitoring system and the GT-R at-least his model seems to lack it. So in traffic GT-R has some interesting blind spots…

The original Nissan Skyline R32 was also known as Godzilla for the way it smashed the opposition on the racing tracks in 1994, it raced under the banner of "Carlsonic"
This was the second GTR but the first that had 4 wheel drive and 4 wheel Steering. These engines in these car were capable of over 1000hp and remain reliable.
Other GTR's have been built that might be faster but for the pure driving pleasure only the R32 had this magnificent if a bit difficult drive train.
Following Godzilla's first year of racing, Godzilla was banned because no other vehicle stood any chance of winning any race whist the R32 was there and the rule book had to be changed forever.

This is not a 0-60 car. This is a track built purpose car. Let's see how a stock tesla does vs this around the track. Completely missed the point of this car. You can't compare the two. That's like comparing a tesla to a trx and saying the trx is better because the tesla can't tow as much. At least put this car around your track with your Stig and then compare what it beats in the same price class.

So basically you were asking if the GT-R was still relevant! Then you drove it and realized how foolish that question was. Sure it’s not the “bargain” it once was but it can still compete with the other cars in that class. As far as I’m concerned the Tesla cars should not be mentioned when listing GT-R competitors. Sure it can do 0-60 insanely fast but I don’t think you can race those cars on a road course. So in my mind those electric cars are still somewhat of a novelty until they can do multiple 1/4 mile blasts as well as track days like the GT-R can. I feel that way about some of the Hellcat vehicles too. Ok you did a fast 1/4 mile.........the GT-R can get close to your 1/4 mile time and leave you on a road course.

It's also reliable when bringing up the power with bolt ons. The GTR does not need approval, it is not a status car and it is not supercar. What it is however if you've ever owned or driven one is a fun, reliable, easy to drive/handle and predictable car. Each model year from CBA to DBA to DBA refresh has some small revisions to updates. 10 or 20 or 30 years from now you will see these cars around as they are very reliable and a Japanese car icon. Tommy, I think you were confused. The Model S actually looks good (even though it's almost as old as the GTR). It's the Model 3 and Model Y that are ugly and look like door stops.

GTR was 5 years old when the Tesla S came out. It’s about 50 percent older. But good points on the designs.

There is no way that I would get a Tesla over this car. Tesla is not a driver's car. I don't care if the car is dated, the fun on the track is priceless.

Looks good but dated...For $120k I would buy almost any other car. To me it’s a $55k car.

Agree. C8 Corvette can be had for nearly $40k less and will get you a faster 0-60 time.

Time to retire th godzilla name for this car. It only applies to the older models going up against the same generation of cars from that era.

It’s not Godzilla anymore but definitely a good sports car. For it to be a Godzilla, it has to be ahead of the curve and it’s simply not.

    Still Godzilla?
    The R35 was never Godzilla.
    1. It's not an R32
    2. It's not an RB26
    3. It's not even a skyline. 🤷‍♂️

Every Dual Clutch I’ve ever driven which is around ten cars, they hate being brake torqued and have a much larger delay than just lifting off of the brake and then flooring the gas.

I don't understand why the infotainment is not as responsive as last year's generation smartphone. Like today's car. Today's best that I know of is Tesla's, but sometimes there's still bugs

Thats still a bad ass vehicle and unlike a Tesla or even Porsche its almost infinitely tunable. Very common to see them making over 1000 horses (relatively) reliably. A drivers and enthusiasts car

Nissan, you'd better be reading this! Do you want to revitalize your brand? Make reasonably priced R36 models! Call it Skyline, make it rear wheel drive, make it in Japan, don't put in a crappy Jatco CVT, make it more basic, give it iconic Skyline styling and you'll sell bazillions! Everybody will be happy to have their own Skyline! Make the most basic models about $30,000. That might not make some Skyline purists happy, but it will get butts in car seats for people like me who drove a Skyline in Project Gotham Racing back in 2001 and don't know any better! Do it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'd sell my 4Runner for one!

I still think the GTR is an awesome car but comparing it to a Tesla isn't a good comparison. I'll put it this way: yes in a few zero to 60 runs the Tesla would probably prevail and maybe a few times in the quarter mile but beyond the quarter mile and the zero to 60 the GTR would leave the Tesla for dead. Which consequently it probably would be literally dead battery wise.
