    If the 373's continued that service, they would've seen the Virgin Trains East Coast livery... Just picture that for a second.

      No what happened was is the class 91s had to be temporarily taken out of service so eurostar leased some of their trains while the 91s were away. When the 91s came back it was given back to eurostar.

    If HS2 is completed eventually, and they had decided to use these old e300's (not like they will nowadays), maybe this is what it would be like having high speed rail trains on classic lines. Great catches, wish I was older at that time period to film them

    • @xm3405
      @xm3405 6 лет назад +1

      No, HS2 will be running at 25omph so they are getting chinese bullet trains.

    • @HST_Productions
      @HST_Productions 6 лет назад +1

      xm3 well we don't know for sure if it'll be bullet trains. I for one would like to see Bombardier give us one of their super fast high speed trains

    • @xm3405
      @xm3405 6 лет назад

      well it has to be capable of 250mph

    • @HST_Productions
      @HST_Productions 6 лет назад +1

      Another thing is they may end up going for things like the Velaro's from Germany, or maybe a TGV derivative from France. I only wish it would be Bombardier to design another model of their Zefiro range so it could be built domestically here in Britain, giving us actual manufacturing jobs.

    Eurostar Class 373s on ECML, in GNER livery and classic white livery, with 4 standard class coaches.

      p Odunlami it still can be as Eurostar still own some track access licences in the uk back from when they were looking at Regional Eurostar but we might still get it one day now we are getting HS2

    • @MalcolmCrabbe
      @MalcolmCrabbe 6 лет назад

      It's quite possible that some of those sets featured in this video have now been scrapped. My guess is that by the time HS2 is built and in service it won't be 373's that will be running on the line given their age and mileage

    Better than the class 90's. Why didn't the ECML keep them?

      Ok No problem

    • @jas88cam
      @jas88cam 6 лет назад +1

      Technical problems apparently - they drew more power than the 225s, more than the ECML could deliver, so had to run at reduced speeds, and the carriages were too long so couldn't run north of York (bridge widths/curves?)
      Shame, they did look like very nice trains; GNER was a great service until Byers pulled the plug and handed it to National Express to wreck...

    • @Laurencepro99
      @Laurencepro99 6 лет назад

      They could extend the platforms. They are doing it with TFL Rail.

    • @jas88cam
      @jas88cam 6 лет назад

      Platform length is only one part of it - they'd need to upgrade the overhead power supplies to get those trains over 110 mph, widen or straighten bridge and curve segments - or they could just buy Azumas which fit the current track instead. (Long term, I'd hope they are trying to straighten and widen the route with more power available as maintenance makes it feasible, but it doesn't make sense for now. And, of course, if they do start upgrading, it should surely be to get better than 125mph, not just to be able to run ex-Eurostar rolling stock at the same speed an HST already manages!)

  • @williamradford8817
    @williamradford8817 3 года назад

    The ECML 373s should be re used in "LNER" livery along side the AZUMA 800s

    When did theses roaring beasts begin service on the ECML, and why and when did they stop and for what reason ? , not heard anything like it since the days of the superb days of the roaring Deltics , and that thing Azuma is nothing but a glorified EMU ,how downhill the ECML has gone from the glorious A4s , Deltics and theses euro stars ,to that horrible Azuma EMU

    • @georgeadams2555

      there weren't many of them, were over engineered for the purpose they would serve and in some places only one train could run in either direction as they drew too much power
