- Recordings of GNER Eurostars and Valenta HSTs made by NN at various locations in the Peterborough area during February, March 2005 - if there is sufficient interest/feedback I may pull together another selection - also includes a move of four light engine 60s and a 170 in Derwent Valley Mills advertising livery plus HST PCs carrying the London 2012 Olympic bid emblems
Omg those hsts sounded so beast wish they kept the engines in the hsts cuz they sound better than the Mtus
i can just watch this video over and over again :D the sound of the valentas will never be forgotten
Probably the greatest video of valentas in action
Those HSTs from back in the day with their Paxman Valenta engines sound the *******. Never will be forgotten. Mind you, i do like the sound of the MTU, its a different sound but great all the same. As i write this in Jan 2018, these stalwarts of the British main line will soon be part of the railway history books. Enjoy the moment.
jon townsend I'm not even joking, I'm going to be heartbroken the day they retire the HST. Such an iconic train, she's going to be sorely missed.
Truly fantastic compilation, the after-dark shots at Tallington are wonderful, surely the best I've seen on youtube. Excellent.
As good as the Eurostar is, the REAL "star" of this video is the HST. She's our TGV.
Dont compare this to the TGV lol
@@fugf1623 😂
@@fugf1623 but TGV is the literal translation of HST
@@WestRail642fan not rly, only his meaning is. its a specific family of french trains, introduced on 1981, able to operate at 180mph. Its litteraly the first European trains that was able to be that fast on a commercial route, and the father of high speed trains in Europe.
@@fugf1623 i am aware of the TGV family, im just saying that the name TGV(Train à Grande Vitesse) translates from french is High Speed Train
Great rail action and great sound
@tpe18509 Thanks mate - in case you don't know the Eurostars no longer work on the east coast main line - they were regional Eurostar sets (shorter than the full continental Eurostar sets) hired in by GNER working the Kings Cross to Leeds services the hire/lease finished December 2005, and these sets are now back in France
Great video!
Excellent vid
@Jonnyvalenta thanks very much mate very much appreciated - also in case you missed it sometimes you get the right wind conditions to pick up an echo of the northbound horns bouncing off the buildings at Tallington particularly at night time and that can be heard on couple of the recordings on this clip
@TheClaasFahrer thanks very much - the Eurostars no longer work on the east coast main line - they were regional Eurostar sets (shorter than the full continental Eurostar sets) hired in by GNER working the Kings Cross to Leeds services the hire/lease finished December 2005, and these sets are now back in France on the regional TGV service
thanks :)
Great Vid Ian.
Toady :D
@itgamer100 thanks very much mate, sorry to disappoint but on checking the footage its City of Dundee at around 0.50 - your loco may be on the rear of the HST set at 2.15 but was very dull so not too clear
A Eurostar/TGV in England/Scotland?!Very cool Video;)
@NapierNimbus:Okay Thanks,TGV´s and Eurostar very cool and Fast Trains!:D

@scottishrailways love it mate - never heard them called turdstars before - majority of them run as 3 car sets now
@NapierNimbus i thought the eurostars looked stunning in GNER livery.
@toady446 thanks Toady
@squeegybits oh yes give me a Valenta or even a VP185 any day, however I did not think I would be saying this but I am finding that some of the MTUs when on full chat can sound interesting
Eurostar trains in goner livery where damn sexy I thought anyway lol
