The language , the bossa nova , the waves on the beach , the mountains , the lush forests its a visually stunning city that is a assault on the senses . I know all of Latin America well and Rio is definetely the most sensual city of Latin America . Buenos Aires is also a huge surprise as it comes across as conservative but is very wild once you break down the barriers . If you live in the right neighbourhood of Buenos Aires its a very romantic city as well .
It's awesome!! I live here and super recommend!! There's a lot of beautiful scenery and some awesome places to go. Just be sure to pay attention to your surroundings cause there's a lot of pickpockets, but everything else is cool.
I’m from Rio and, even though what they said is very true, I have to say it’s not like that with everyone. There are guys who will want to date you exclusively from the moment they meet you, there are guys who will say they love you within a week of talking to you and they’ll SUFFOCATE you, texting you all day. Also, my “contatinhos” usually become my friends and I’ll continue talking to them even after we are done with the fun stuff hahaha and one of your contatinhos usually will want something more or you’ll want something more, so that’s not that black and white. we usually take at least a month of going out with someone to make it exclusive, if we like them. Once I was going out with a guy for a month and he was already acting like my boyfriend, when I was just having fun, so it’s easier to make it clear lol
Is Brazillian women's body count High. That Contatinhos lifestyle seems really nice for women but not really for guys. THOSE 2 ladies seem like they are running through men lol

I don't know but this makes me sad. These are fake relationships. Easy come, easy go is the right description for those. But I prefer a relationship where you fall in love with each other slowly and deeply. Where you have a meaningful connection, when your souls connect. Because I don't see sex as the goal of the relationship. I see a long term, hopefully permanent intimate bond with someone as the goal. I think it brings you the most satisfaction. It's more the 'party people' that are like that. My husband and I, for example, will never think about that, the most conservative/christian brazilians will have different relationships with their couple. In my opinion, I think this is a bad habit.
Brazilians, even cariocas, do have monogamic relationships, steady and faithful. The thing is that for cariocas It is not unusual for a contatinho to become a friend, and you Will not add him/her to the dating pool. I have friends, plain friends, who are former contatinhos. If the relationship progresses It becomes a commitment. Brazilians are iffy in general, I reckon. You might fall in love exactly with that bright and bright eccentric way of demonstrating love, and our atitude towards sex, that might hurt you given your culture.
If you're not brazilian and doesn't know what is "contatinho". . It means the number/contact of someone you want to have a "one night stand". That's not exactly "dating", but most people in Rio use the same word ("encontro") to refer to a "meeting", a "dating", and a "one night stand". It's confusing to translate, because it depends of context. In the video they're mostly talking about the 3rd option. . Also, this video shows only Rio de Janeiro City. This culture doesn't apply to all the state of Rio, neither to all the other 26 states. Rio city is a very specific place. Brazil is larger than life, with many many cultures hahaha. We're not all like cariocas. . What they said about "being conservative" like being "posessive and jealous", but it's actually wrong. They said it because they are just looking for "contatinhos", not relationship. Usually, that's the way cariocas think.
in Australia, if you are a mixed race Australian ( me for example) you are not considered to be Australian or taken seriously. Wish I was in Brazil right now.
@Alimac The US and Brazil are so much more similar than we all think. But Brazil did what the US was trying to do WAY better! Everybody is Brazilian, period. Regardless. No hyphens for ethnic minorities. Brazil has it's issues but I love that country so much. Wish I could live there again
@Alimac as someone who's lived in both the US and Brazil, I have to disagree. Both are the largest countries in their continents. Both countries were colonized by greedy Europeans and had extremely large amounts of slavery and indentured servitude. Both countries were founded on the mixing of cultures of Africans, Amerinidans, and Europeans. With large amounts of immigrants from other places of the world coming later. Making them both incredibly racially and ethnically diverse countries. The US is a salad bowl while Brazil is a melting pot.
@Alimac In Brazil, more than half of the country is of African descent. But Brazil's past has convinced an entire group of people into identifying as 'Pardo'.. Some ACTUALLY are Pardo, but others are 70/80 percent African talking about "im mixed, not Black" like people like Neymar. But in most of the world those "pardos" would still be Black. And a lot of people in Brazil who identify as white are not white. They're Pardos and wouldn't pass for white anywhere else. So Brazil's ideas of race are just as crazy as the US's, just in a different way.
Carioca people are a whole different animal, as americans say. First, because they think differently from other brazillians. That joke about "end of the world headline", in case of Rio de Janeiro newspapers they would print "The sun is not coming up nex week - no beach anymore". It must be said that cariocas, they are very very very fond of working out their bodies. Either you do work out or you don't have a life (maybe if you got other qualities like money or social capacity) but for women, no way, you got to work it out. Because if a girl meets a guy somewhere, first date is on the beach (and part of the script first conversation question, which beach do you go to) It took me years to understand simple things like that in this video for I was born somewhere else and moved to Rio de Janeiro I suffered. Foreigners might either enjoy it a lot or suffer a lot but best if they learn portuguese first.
@@user-jy7yn1ro8j no they're a bit more conservative generally speaking. But still you can find any kind of people anywhere, even in Rio. Tourists that come here in Rio just get to know one side of the city which is the beach side, but it's a huge metropolis with 12 million people so you can find many different types. 24% of the population is Protestant so there is where you find most conservative people, generally speaking.
Brazilian advice to add to the Great Video. Never try dating Brazilians in Tourist destinations like Rio! Learn some Portuguese!🇧🇷 Obrigada Mae Amor...😎👏👏
@T-Bone MMA Because in Rio the majority it's people are not interested in "dating" per se... they are more into hanging out AND making out (friends with benefits = contatinhos) and if it turns out you guys develop feelings than maybe it can turn into something more serious ( if both want it). In resume... If you wanna "go all out" it's easier but if you want something serious you need to take your sweet time to connect.

Omgg where is the shy guys @ he was so adorable!!

Sex is nothing in comparison...
You sound like an uninteresting person
And some people at a certain stage in their lives don't want every relationship to be some full emotional ride.

updateee?
Yeah.. Its pretty common here, in general. But, You know, its a very big country... There is all kind of people and ways of thinking.
Usually, that's the way cariocas think.
the subtitles was so different, not wrong, but different hahahah
If you are still here come to the south!! Rio Grande do Sul! Is amazing here :))
The shy guy who say he is ugly is actually hot as fuck.

Thanks by the compliments lady. You are welcome.
I love the diversity of Brazil ✊🏾💯💯
in Australia, if you are a mixed race Australian ( me for example) you are not considered to be Australian or taken seriously.
@@mariaantoniasantos1504 Really? I thought there were A LOT of half white/half Aboriginal people in Australia
I should really get back to studying Portuguese again

@@user-jy7yn1ro8j no they're a bit more conservative generally speaking. But still you can find any kind of people anywhere, even in Rio. Tourists that come here in Rio just get to know one side of the city which is the beach side, but it's a huge metropolis with 12 million people so you can find many different types. 24% of the population is Protestant so there is where you find most conservative people, generally speaking.
