@OzumaRukasu I agree with you. However, in analyzing stereotypes, people have to understand their origins in order to combat those narratives effectively. For example, every country in the world has a city that is it's "face"to the rest of the world, a city or cities its country presents to the rest the world to spark curiosity or tourism in people who otherwise may not know much about the country. Tokyo, Los Angeles, New York, Paris, London, etc etc are globally known cities that convey specific images to the world at large and become the "faces" of those countries to the rest of the world. In Brazil's case, for better or worse, its most marketed city on a global level by far is Rio de Janeiro. In truth, there are many people in the world who have never even heard of Sao Paulo despite it being Brazil's largest, most populated city and business hub. And of course, almost all of Rio's marketing centers around sex appeal in one form or another and when many people visit the city, many of those stereotypes are on display, so it makes it even more difficult to discount them. And then when looking at mainstream media culture, it plays more into it. Sadly, over time, perception becomes reality. So combating that narrative begins when the overall country itself decides it no longer wishes to convey those images as its primary culture, and begins to promote different things as the "face" of its country. We are more liberal on that sense.. to me Americans as more sexual as Brazilians, the difference is that there is a light, fun and free aspect in Brazil that u can't find in America and many other europeans countries

There's nothing to be proud about this growing "liberal" culture.
@fccpaixao As an American who lives in the city of Rio specifically, and has lived in other countries as well, I have some observations to share. Similar to Brazil, depending on the city and region of the United States, there will be different general attitudes about different things. I notice that many Brazilians often say Americans and Europeans are colder. I would agree Brazilians are, on average, more open, friendly, and passionate. But I also think being friendly and being true friends are different things (in my experience, many Brazilians are friendly to the point of dishonesty, for example casually inviting people to their home when they have no intention of that person really visiting or scheduling things and being costantly late or not showing up without warning). Obviously, this is not all Brazilians, but it is something not uncommon Brazil. Also, being possessive and jealous is not seen as being passionate in the US, it is seen as being insecure and unstable. Whereas Americans and Europeans are simply more private and personal, people on average respect the personal privacy of others, people on average respect other people's time and life responsibities, which is why punctuality is much more prevalent in those societies, and people on average take their responsibilities very seriously, which is those countries have the the reputation for being efficient and organized. If an American invites you to their home, it's not something done just to appear friendly, it is a serious offer based on genuinely being fond of someone. That is not coldness, that is simply having different valuesand saying what you mean. About sexuality, I understand why Rio and Brazil has the reputation it does. Even in the basic marketing of these places. When people think of a New York or Paris or Los Angeles or London, people don't think of images of half naked women dancing in parades or beaches where the majority of women are wearing thong bikinis. Even in most beach cities in the world, this form of marketinf is not to that extreme. Rio is essentially the most marketed city in Brazil internationally, and it's marketing is based almost purely on sex appeal. And because Rio is the "face" of brazil, it gives an impression to people who are not generally familiar with the country that it is sexually driven. And to add to that, when tourists come to Brazil to its most marketed city, to its most marketed area, Copacabana, an average tourist will see young children on the street at midnight unaccompanied by an adult trying to earn money, they will see open air prostitution while the police stand by and watch, and almost everyone knows someone who has been robbed or assaulted and people will constantly tell them to keep their cell phones in their pockets, don't place your cell phone on tables, etc. so sadly, that imagery reinforces the preconceptions many people have. It is obviously not the whole truth or all there is to see and experience, but it is an issue and a partial explanation for the perspectives some people have of Brazil.
@@davidelliott1594 As a Brazilian i agree and i'm glad you are saying the obvious, but some among us Brazilians simply don't want to see or they try to rationalize some behavior patterns that not even we like that much like being late and not being honest in our relationship goals. I would just like to add that despite Rio de Janeiro unfortunately representing the country as a whole internationally, even people from Rio they suffer with all this sexualized culture, which is imposed and normalized by the mainstream media. The main successful channel here is from Rio de Janeiro and they try to impose this sexualized culture in Rio de Janeiro and try to make us (in other parts of Brazil) think that what they portray in their biased news and tv shows is Brazil. Throughout the time, as generations come and go, people started to believe being Brazilian is this thing that we see in Rio. People in my state (Espírito Santo) unfortunately believes that the ideal of being Brazilian is the Carioca (people from Rio de Janeiro) style. Some people bought their ideas (from the mainstream media) to a point some people think it is normal to cheat on people, not being commited to people (whether friendship or relationship). That's something revolting! There are people across the country who try to disassociate their image from Rio de Janeiro like the southern states, but it is hard to fight the mainstream media narratives.

What a good initiative you guys took in translating the video. Much appreciated! But be careful with the translation process, some words might look the same when we're conjugating and they may have a complete different meaning. At 5:29 for example, it is translated as "vêm" for the word "to see" when it was supposed to be translated as "veem". "Vêm" is third person in the plural form from the word "vir", which means "to come".
We're latinos, as Portuguese derives from the Latin language. Being a Latino is about a language group, not ethnicity. Being Latino as an ethnicity is an American fabricated narrative political groups used as an attempt to segregate Hispanics in the United States, whether those who were already living in the today western US states (which were formerly Mexican and conquered by Americans in the Mexican-US war) as their former generations were already living there or those who came there by immigration, whether legal or illegal.

Problem is you foreigners are always at the absolutely worst places. Good looking people generally have good looking local people taste. They are at specific places you aren’t.
@luisamaria3068 I would imagine it is because Rio is Brazil's most marketed city, it's "postcard" city, and the city most tourists' to Brazil visit due to it being Brazil's most marketed city on a cultural level. If an average person thinks to go to France or the UK or to the US to learn about the culture of those places, they think to go to Paris, London and New York, not the cities that are lessor known to an international audience. I agree that Rio should not be representative of all of Brazil, no city in the world should be representative of an entire country, but it is the reality every country in the world lives in, for better or worse. If the intention of a video is for foreigners to have an idea of the city they have heard of and are most likely to visit in a country, in Brazil's case, then it makes logical sense why the setting would be in Rio.

There's such a hypocrisy on people from the usa or europe thinking that their culture is "superior" or "more liberated" than, say, middle eastern or asian cultures for being relatively more sexually open, and then when there is a culture they see as "inferior" that's more open about sexuality in some aspects, it’s not seen as a good thing but as a sign that we are "cheap" or "easy". It's deeply racist. It’s about equality and sexual liberation, as you can see with the splitting 50/50 on dates- we believe women have sexual desires as men do, It's that simple. But since we are "backwards latinos" and not "enlightened europeans", it will never be perceived that way by foreigners, just fetishized and objectified.

Usually Brazilians date foreigners when they want to live in another country, have a better life than they have in Brazil, get foreign citizenship, etc. I think the problem related to date a foreigner is the hygiene because depending on the country the habits are not so good, for example Americans dont brush their teeth after every meals, European don't take enough baths and think some body odors are normal, some people don't shave themselves and things like that.
Excellent personal hygiene is basic in Brazil ... In Rio people only smell of shampoo, eau de cologne and perfumed soap ... at 40ºC at noon, inside a crowded bus with no air conditioning at all !!! Amazing Brazil and brazilians, and they are all SOOOOO CUTE

I would say the best festivals in Brazil happen during Carnival (officially in February, but January starts what we call pre-carnival) and during São João Party or "Saint John Party" (June and July)... Personally, I prefer the São João Party, bc it's the best in terms of music, dance and food experience for all ages. Carnival it's a more "party-hard-marathon" experience.
Faithfulness is only a problem in Brazil with non-catholics and people who are into parties every weekend (with people they don't even know). Unfortunately, there are a lot of people like this in Brazil, but there's always a light at the end of the tunnel.
Biased wrong. Most ppl here are catholic(even if non-church going), the ateists are a very tiny minority so they dont count, the protestants dont have a life outside their church/sect... so majority of those ppl who are unfaithful are catholics (and protestants in second), following the logic of the percentage this is the result.. Pretty sure some protestants also cheat but as they are more brainwashed and dont go out too much they still are behind catholics.

The thing about brazilians being too sexual.. not really just as much as the "west", we didn't had puritanism here ). And brazilians hate repression and hipocrisy. We are more liberal on that sense.. to me Americans as more sexual as Brazilians, the difference is that there is a light, fun and free aspect in Brazil that u can't find in America and many other europeans countries
You are too much liberal...Be more conservative and commit to one person .Just try it...
I'm Brazilian and i'm not a liberal in any way, shape or form and i'm not the only one. And this growing lascivious culture are only doing us Brazilians harm. Divorce rates are increasing, a lot of children grow up without one of their parents and relationships are being treated as something disposable. There's nothing to be proud about this growing "liberal" culture.
This is Rio not the whole country. Brazilians when they are in a relationship, we are serious. Because when we are single, we not serious at all
@fccpaixao As an American who lives in the city of Rio specifically, and has lived in other countries as well, I have some observations to share.
There are people across the country who try to disassociate their image from Rio de Janeiro like the southern states, but it is hard to fight the mainstream media narratives.
i think the woman that was cheated is angry , im brazilian and men so dont generalize
An error in the video. “Gringos” is any foreigner. An Argentinean is a Latin American and is a Gringo in Brazil. You are very stupid in summarizing everything as Latin Americans. RiO is NOT Brazil
In Brazil gringo mean non brazilians we are not Latinos
We're latinos, as Portuguese derives from the Latin language. Being a Latino is about a language group, not ethnicity. Being Latino as an ethnicity is an American fabricated narrative political groups used as an attempt to segregate Hispanics in the United States, whether those who were already living in the today western US states (which were formerly Mexican and conquered by Americans in the Mexican-US war) as their former generations were already living there or those who came there by immigration, whether legal or illegal.

@@DatingBeyondBorders Why you just show Rio ?
@@luisamaria3068because it’s a big city and it represents at least a piece of Brazil. If this video was made in Gramado, for exemple, do you think it would represents other states in Brazil?

Europeans are more promiscuous but they don't advertise it as a moral quality or a sign of power.
It's very rare to see a Brazilian blond women dating with a black men, they prefer to date with white men. On the other hand, women from Europe, specially from Eastern Europe, they are more open-minded, free from any prejudice. In addition, they speak three or four languages, they are much more interesting.

Most white women here dont have this prejudice.
not rare at all, your statement couldn't be further from the truth, I would bet that BR is in the top ranking for the country with most interracial couples, thats the reason we are so mixed
Awesome. Great content.
Honestly I feel like the "sexual openness" stereotype isnt actually wrong, i just deeply despise the way that it is perceived. But since we are "backwards latinos" and not "enlightened europeans", it will never be perceived that way by foreigners, just fetishized and objectified.
yes it is wrong.
Tem que entender que existe muito turismo no Rio, então lá é até normal namorar gringos, agora no restante do Brasil não é e não acho que a maioria das mulheres Brasil preferem gringos!

Hi this is a random and this may seem like a dumb question but is there any holidays or specials days in Brazil on April 13th?
There're some special dates in April, but not a holiday for 2024.
