    Damn, does this car bring back memories or what ? Bought a used 64 Chevelle 2 door hardtop back in 70 with a 6 cyl, 3 speed stick. A few months later, the Chevelle was sporting a complete [and additional built] 68-302 Z 28 motor, Pontiac Muncie 4 speed and a 66 GTO posi 3.90 gear rear. Hooker headers with a complete exhaust behind the rear wheels. Painted 68 Caddy Nottingham Green (emerald green). Car originally silver. Fun car to drive for 10 years and quick cause it was so light ! Surprised a lot of drivers on the street. Sold the car less engine in 1980 (stuck in a 30 over 327 , sold the Z motor separately). Can't tell you how many times I wished I had kept this car [but it was many] !

Never drag raced the 64 but it motivated along quite well and surprised a whole bunch of drivers [on the street] as it was so light (3100 lbs+ w/o driver). Ah yes, those were the days ! The same here. Wasn’t it weird watching him find reverse, when us old timers are use to a four speed in these old school cars. The first time I saw a New Chevelle I was 14 yrs old at Church ball practice. It was a beautiful 4/sp, bucket seats, maroon SS. Don’t know how she managed it but a girl was driving and said her husband had bought it a few weeks back. Well, just like a bunch of morons after practice 4 or 5 guys wanted her to give them a lift up the road so they hopped up on the trunk as she was backing out. Knowing her husband would be mad if he knew they were sitting on his car, She told them to get off, those old blue jeans with their rivets in the pockets, digging into the paint. Dad having two nice 55’s when I was growing up taught me to respect other people’s vehicles, never to lean against and never sit on anyone’s car, I knew better, and knew this wasn’t going to be good. With that she popped the clutch, and scattered them up the road for about 50 yards. Most of the five had road rash like from a motorcycle accident. They didn’t feel much up to playing ball for a couple of weeks. The next time I saw the car parked their were scratches from where the blue jeans rivets dug into the paint as they were slung off the trunk lid.

    Niiiiiice! VERY AMERICAN.
    I've driven a lot of these cars with big block power - and my advice is a little smaller and much heavier steering wheel and a lot faster ratio power steering with a lot less power assist. Makes it easier to keep the front end ahead of the back end when you have a little too much tire slippage. It's way too easy to wind up in a ditch without these tweaks (ask me how I know)

    • @leojt9423

    Sounds like it never gets over 3500 rpm. That's a great head and cam selection. I would like to see the torque spread on the Dyno. I bet it makes 500+ pounds from 2k and holds it to the top

    Motor sounds really good. Are you at 500hp ? Your 5 speed sounded like you didn't really hook up until 3rd and just feathering the gas. Would you go to something like M22 ?, Also what rear gear do you have ? I love your car.

    • @leojt9423
      @leojt9423  3 года назад +2

      Thank you! I would guess closer to 600 crank, 500’s to the tires. I can’t fit bigger than 255 width tires on it right now it doesn’t really “hook” mostly just roasts!
      It’s actually the stock 10bolt 3.36 rear end with an Eaton LSD. The M22 is a great trans, but probably wouldn’t stand the torque of a hot big block. Also no overdrive!
