      Were you able to make any work? I tried 3 or 4 in a row and the heat shrink melted long before any solder melted. I work in aerospace so it could be I’m just used to higher quality connectors

      @@jordanharris3749 the first two came out almost perfect using a map gas torch so I brought em to work to show the guys and we ruined 4 in a row because everything melted and or caught on fire long before the solder would melt. I still need to practice more with them, the idea is amazing but I’m not sure the technology is there yet. Hopefully others will chime in with their experience and methods.

    When assembling an engine you should protect the crank from the rod bolts by using a couple of
    short pieces of 3/8" fuel hose to cover the rod bolts so you don't drag it across the rod journals, I've seen this happen before. left marks that had to be dressed down before it could be assembled

    I just happened to pause the vid and came back to look and see the hone. You definitely want to invest in a rigid hone like a Lisle or similar. Get a shelf full of pig mats and a million gallons of spray lube. When you think you're making a mess, that's the right amount. Rigid hones are good for taking out uneven wear.

  • @davidsharp922
    @davidsharp922 Год назад

    Since 2016 I have built probably more than 600 LS motors.
    We have the cranks turned if necessary.
    Out of hundreds of engines I have never measured the crank or the block and have never had one problem with clearance issues.
    And the motors I build are certainly not all stock.
    To each his own,right ?

  • @leonardfoster6252

    I can not believe you used a clamp band to put the pistons in the block. Piston sleeves work so much nicer, some are adjustable on bore size or some are for same size of bore...

  • @joshuaelizabethfoster6276
    @joshuaelizabethfoster6276 Год назад

    While you have that apart. Would you mind 0 decking a piston and measuring the max notch depth? That should adversely tell us a good idea max cam lift for valve clearance on stock pistons. You seem to like your new tools and should only take a few minutes as you do have the heads off. Was just thinking...

    Dont mix bearing halves it forms a oil wedge against the seam and will overheat the oil at high rpm polish the crank or just run it slightly loose with the full set of x bearings
