Our clothes are made out of plastic which will not extinct so gas cars also wont extinct. Electric cars have been around sinces the 1800's why tf do you think they don't do well. I don’t care you can’t beat the old iron man I get feelings sometimes when I crank up old machinery.
Old cars, rigs, construction machinery it just makes me happy, makes me tear up lo l😂 makes me want to drive em mean
I remember when I was a teen and driving my first big truck it had an old CAT motor. The starter sound, the start up, the cold noise of the engine the C15s especially when used up a bit can get a clatter sound I just love it. I bought a 2006 T800 look alike to the first truck I drove… but this one is a dump truck for my business. 475HP C15 CAT engine same exact one as the ‘05 I drove at my first job, also 8 speed Eaton LL transmission easy peasy. This one got louder pipes than the ‘05 I drove which was a bit quieter you’d have to get it revving higher to hear that engine brake with the windows up and if your following the truck behind it. Enjoyable truck to drive everyday.

Got an old barnyard Slant-6 starting up? That Mopar starter motor hitting the Leaning Tower of Power. Especially before they added hydraulic lifters, the first 20 minutes or so of your morning commute was clack-clack-clack until the pushrods got warm enough to bring the valve lash into check. I've owned Mopar small blocks and Mopar big blocks, but there was never anything better for me than a Mopar Slant-6.
I drove my 1983 Dodge Ram (Slant-6, cast crank, hydraulic lifters, A-833 four-speed, stock everything) down to a friend's party in Ann Arbor. The Slant-6 crankshaft is insanely heavy; add the flywheel, pressure plate, clutch disk, and input shaft of the transmission because it was all rotating as I had the truck parked in neutral. The Canadian one dollar coin has facets; you can stand a relatively unworn one on its edge. I placed the coin on its edge on the engine's air cleaner and it stood there for a good 15-20 seconds. My American friends - University of Michigan Engineering students, and I'm proud of my friendship with them - thought it was a trick of the Canadian coin.
No; you could put your hand on that engine and feel that it was running and alive, but so smooth that I could put a coin on edge on the air filter and make it stand for a few seconds. Inline 6 engines are intrinsically balanced by geometry if all the moving parts have the same mass. Even in the throes of bankruptcy protection in the early 1980s, Chrysler got the pistons and the con rods and the crank all close enough to the same mass that a 16-year-old pickup truck with lots of miles could balance a coin on its air cleaner.
That same Slant-6 Dodge Ram also hauled a 1974 Plymouth Valiant Brougham on a float trailer up Highway 401 to Ottawa and had no problem keeping up with 65-75 MPH traffic with that load. I wasn't stepping on the gas and hitting the passing lane, but I was keeping up with the truckers in the travel lane. I miss that truck so much. I used to clean my junkyard boot prints off her floor by opening the door and hitting the rubber mats with a garden hose. I got a reliable 25 MPG when I wasn't hauling around a trailer with an A-body on it, which is pretty amazing for a full-size truck.
    [sigh]
