    Here’s a bit of trivia for you. Stoke Dry Reservoir is where 617 (Dambusters) Squadron in WWII practised using Barnes Wallis’ bouncing bomb, before their attack on the Rühr (and other) dams! This is my neck of the woods and the Corby (Rockingham) to Uppingham (A6003 (I think)) road is an all time favourite of mine, especially when doing the reverse run and being up above the reservoir. Stoke Dry is also where I used to take my girlfriends to indulge in etchings and stamp collection, when I lived at home (40+ years ago) admittedly in my hyper flash Lancia HPE 2.0…no crappy Capri or Manta for me…..that’s how so many girls were interested in philately!

    • @motomogul
      @motomogul  Год назад

      That is an excellent bit of trivia Alberto, I never knew that. Is the A6003 the road with the big sweeping bends over the hills? If so, I couldn’t agree more. Amazing the amount of girls who were into philately if you had a flash car, I never did so had to be more inventive, my beer mat collection was quite popular back in the day though! 🤔

    • @albertol1529
      @albertol1529 Год назад

      @@motomogul Hi MM, yes, I think it is A6003. I should know, I grew up in the area and I was on it the other day. I went to see my best mate who lives in Lyddington. That’s the crossroad turning opposite the Stoke Dry one. My A-Level physics teacher (a nun!!!) lived in the same village (near Epping) as Sir Barnes Wallis. She was converted to Catholicism by Sir Fred Hoyle, who was the Astronomer Royal, another village resident. Hoyle was an atheist, but through his science decided the probability of a random event creating the universe was infinitesimally small. I’m thankful he converted her (and himself) because she was an amazing teacher. She used to ride a Vespa and I remember once she took us to the Rutherford Laboratory and handed out beer to us! We were in the VIth form at the time. She was driving the school mini-bus with a beer in one hand and keeping the best in Radio One with the other! ………see, people on two wheels are infinitely cooler than those on four!
      If you’re looking for a nice run out, the other reservoir, Rutland Water (which starts near Oakham, for you) is a great run too. At the time it was created, hey sank two villages under water. One of the villages’ churches, is preserved on a man made promontory, Normanton Church. That whole loop has some nice roads and villages. You just have to watch out for the Lycra Loony Lads thinking they own the road, round there.

    • @motomogul
      @motomogul  Год назад

      @@albertol1529 I do the Rutland water route quite frequently, pity you can’t get near the water without having to pay parking fees now. I did used to cycle lots up until a few years ago. One of the reasons I stopped was because of the idiots who started to take up cycling and give it a bad name.

    I've just upgraded from my 2020 GSA Rallye to the 2022 GS Trophy, absolutely love the GS's and think they are so easy to ride, totally agree with you Jack. Watching the video I noticed you still had the bike in Dynamic Pro. I love Dynamic Pro, but in those conditions, I would probably switch to Road. There's not a great deal of difference but it just backs the acceleration of a little coming out of the bends on the slimy roads, to stop and "moments" from the back end. Also love the telever suspension and the way the auto suspension adjusts when you put your luggage on. I honestly can't get enough of mine. Nice to see you so happy, I'm also 78 days dry, so a little behind you but definitely feeling the benefit and not missing it at all.

    Hi Jack, had three, a 1200 TE, my favourite a GS 1200 Triple Black and finally a GSA 1250 Exclusive. They were all good bikes but they need Conti Trail Attacks to bring out the best of the grip. As I got older my 29” inside leg struggled with the weight and height and so I’ve moved to a lower, much lighter Multistrada V2S, only 225kg wet while a GS is 245 and the GSA 265! To be honest I now prefer my Multi ‘La Ducessa’, she’s got better handling, a far better gearbox, sounds far better, quicker despite the power difference and is almost as comfortable. The thing I love the most is the looks and the feeling you get when you open the garage, the GS never turned heads and to be honest ended up feeling like a Ford Focus of bikes. They are a great bike but they lack the ‘special’ factor, as they say in Lincolnshire ‘common as muck’😊😆

    I guess Roxy it is then, I'm glad your happy with her, I guess her looks are easier to live with when you don't have to look at the mantle piece when your poking her fire 😂 You certainly scored with all the kit the previous owner fitted, It's rotten of dealers to try to make someone else pay for them again. I'm sure you'll change those tyres for something you've got more confidence in when the time comes.
    I'm all for being seen but that's only an issue with a very small percentage of drivers, most either don't look or see you but don't care. I thought the sheer presence of the front end of the ZZR along with its minimum of four lights, would deter drivers from pulling out in front. Considering I've got luminous green on my jacket, trousers and helmet, not seeing me isn't the issue, not caring is the real reason.

    Hi yes great video and the BMW is a very good bike but in looks prefer the Honda lol. Also quick note on these self keyless locks i would maybe carry a spare button battery for the key as think as Username Kate has problems with her tank lock and think was down to low battery. But great video.

      On my 22 GS if battery dies you can still start the bike.
      Under the rear mudguard is a sensor. You place key there and it reads the chip and starts. Same with the blank spare
