    Thanks for putting these videos together! I picked up a home town hero, pair of Malavitas, and Photons over the weekend. Now bring on the snow!

    Totally dig the honesty from The House and Burton. My rulers are insanely comfortable. I’m absolutely ok at that price point, which surprised me. I think the ropes (rather than cables) make the subtle difference that got me to ditch traditional laces. Also I don’t ride backcountry, nor am I a pro. I’m getting a little more busy with life, and don’t get to ride as much as I would like. That also means a more forgiving boot was more suited to my needs. Absolutely astonishing comfort right out of the box.

      There’s a good reason they are one of the best selling boots! Enjoy the ride

    Photon Wide for my duck feet feel amazing. More wide options! Wouldn't mind getting Ruler Wides with boa! Easier to tighten/loosen on the fly.

    I bought the boa rulers from SF burton. I have a wide foot but after heat molding and a couple boarding trips they feel great. Solid boot for the price.

    thanks! much appreciated! honestly, it's so hard to get useful info about Burton boots. ...as opposed to the marketing hoo-hah that passes for a product description on the manufacturer website.

    I’ve been snowshoeing a few years and a ski skinner on the mountain recommended that I get a snowboard and skins. It will be my first snowboard. I longboard at the beach and around the hood. Just bought the photons with union explorer bindings and hoping they’ll be good for a split board. Haven’t got the board yet, but will once I decide a good fit. 😊

      Check out the Chamonix Split lineup. Super good boards and you get a lot for you money! -> www.the-house.com/splitboards?routes={%22fs%22:[{%22f%22:%22Brand%22,%22vs%22:[%22Chamonix%22]}]}

    Thanks for the video! I just got a good offer for a Burton progress camber 2020, the cartels and the Burton ruler boots...what do you think about that combination? I am a beginner/intermediate rider still having to improve a little bit. Mainly using it for the the ski runs but looking to have a kind of allround Board. Greetings from Germany!

    I don’t have a wide foot but tried the wide version and they seemed to fit great. I wear a 13, should I try to try a standard 13 or just get the wides

    • @thehouse
      @thehouse  4 года назад

      I would suggest trying on the standard version . You want snowboard boots to fit snug and comfortable.

    I have the ruler speed zones and I do my best to tighten them all the way down but I sometimes have my heel come up. How much better would the photons be at keeping my heel down and locking my foot in?

    • @thehouse
      @thehouse  3 года назад

      Hard to say until you actually try them on. The Photon does have a system to help hold your heel in a little better so it is a good possibility they would be better.

    Current set up is cartel X bindings on ride warpig. I ride 10-15 times a year groomers minimal park, intermediate rider
    Any recommendations between these two boots for that set up? Preferably boa version
    Love the reviews

      Either or to be honest. Ruler if you want a little softer, smoother feel or the Photon for a little quicker, sturdier feel.

    Nice! You guys answered one of my questions in the final seconds since I have wide feet and need the wide option. The other one I had is regarding the sizing. I'd like to order online and I don't have any stores nearby to try them on. Is it true the Burton boots run about a 1/2 size small? I wear a 10.5 tennis shoe/work boot normally.

      In my experience, you should get your size. Their snowboard boots sizing pretty spot on.

      I just bought a pair of the 2020 Burton Photon Boa Wide boots at the NYC Burton flagship store. Was able to try the regular Photon Boa boots as well as Ruler Wide boots with Speedzone lacing. My foot is EEE width and I was able to wear my true 8.5 size in the two wide boots; without the Wide option, I'd have to go to a 9/9.5 in a regular width boot. The regular width Photon Boa was not painful tight, but it was tight enough that significant break-in would be required to get it to the comfort level of both the Photon Boa Wide and Ruler Wide, which were sneaker shoe comfortable right away. Between the Ruler and Photon, the Ruler is noticeably softer flexing...it really comes across as more of a park/freestyle boot. Plus, the Ruler wide doesn't come in a Boa option, which was another factor for me. I will be riding a 2019 Burton Custom X Flying V w/Burton Genesis EST bindings and the salesman recommended the Photon as a better match for my setup. Best point in the video above is that the $80 bucks more for the Photon really gets you a lot more boot versus the Ruler.

      @@wayoutofbounds Thank you for the information! I will go with true size wide as well!

    Really torn between these two, rode for my whole life but took a long break for some medical reasons. My knees a little gimpy and was thinking maybe photon for my support and stiffness. I ride a wide board and a size 13

    • @thehouse
      @thehouse  4 года назад

      Both would work well, I would say the Ruler because speed lacing is convenient and more reliable than BOA.

      The House Outdoor Gear reliable as in if boa were to break its a bigger hassle then rulers lace up?

  • @simonander7498

    have a hard time deciding which one I want. I usually go in the park, the piste, off piste. I like carving so It leans against the pothon boots as I like that the heel is stuck but im worried about getting cramp with the hard sole. wich one should i get?

    • @simonander7498

      and I do not have the opportunity to test photon in store but is it the same fit and size that rolls boa?

    • @thehouse
      @thehouse  4 года назад

      I mean, the Photon is really one of the best boots on the market. You can't really go wrong with a pair. They will be stiff at first, but will loosen up as they break in.

    So I got the BUrton Malavitas 2020 Wing tips which are the most amazing binding . I am looking for a new set of boots with Boas and It looks like the side Boa on the Photon is high enough to stay out of the way of the wingtip. Am I correct that it is out of the way?

    • @thehouse
      @thehouse  3 года назад

      I hear ya, I LOVE the winged highback. Most of the BOA boots run into that issue with the winged highback. To be safe I would look at boots with standard lace or speed zone.
