It was at the Texas Jam at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas in June 1987. Lineup included Farenheit, Poison (not a big fan), Whitesnake, Aerosmith and Boston closing out the show. Paul Stanley even came out and jammed with Poison for a couple songs. Hot as hell that day but one of the best of my life. Boston didn't come out for about two hours after Aerosmith - they were waiting for darkness so they could do their light show. Brutal wait but worth every minute. They were awesome. sun dancer 57, just in the last few years really finding out, how really great 70s music was/is. The Cars was my band of choice for many decades, for some reason, and then a few years ago I found Buckethead, then more recently the rest have been finding their way back into my ‘soundtrack’ . Rick Beatos’ RUclips channel has really been great for analyzing some of the songs from that era.
sun dancer “I’m an old depressing fuck who thinks they’re better than everyone else because I’m a boomer-hipster.” Good music exists everywhere all the time. There are bands like this today, but you’re too old, lazy, and technologically inept to find them. Just keel over already, asswipes.

Boston didn't come out for about two hours after Aerosmith - they were waiting for darkness so they could do their light show. Brutal wait but worth every minute. They were awesome. Saw them again several months later on this tour in Baton Rouge - I was an LSU student at the time. Another great show. This is my favorite Boston song and unfortunately they didn't play it at either show so it's great to see it live here all these years later. Thanks for posting.
I remember the Monday morning after the Texxas Jam in 87 lots of people calling in to Q102 unhappy that Boston didn't play Smokin'. Other than that, an awesome concert, heat be damned!
oh yes! vididly recall the heat at this Texas Jam....omg! but they sprayed us with the hoses to keep us cooled off...... :)
I remember the hoses but I had found a shady spot up in the stands to sit and watch from :D
Wow. Didn't know they had shade for miles at that place. Glad you were able to find some. We had moved up to about 15 rows from the stage by the time Aerosmith had come on. The fire hoses were the best things ever. Like manna from heaven!!!!!
I've always loved this song. Not one bad song on their debut album. What a sweet guitar solo too. Tom's my hero.
INESQUECÍVEL, VOU OUVIR MILHARES DE VEZES ATÉ O ÚLTIMO DIA EM QUE EU VIVER RSRS
It is so sad that there is no bands like this today. 55 years old here. If you are 22 you will never get it. you have to be at least 45 to get it. So sad....
sun dancer 52 yrs old here. It’s just a different time. But I still stay up till 345 in the morning in Texas watching Boston Pink Floyd Foo Fighters Stevie Wonder the list goes on. Much love
43 here and I grew up with 70s music. Still listen daily!
sun dancer 57, just in the last few years really finding out, how really great 70s music was/is. The Cars was my band of choice for many decades, for some reason, and then a few years ago I found Buckethead, then more recently the rest have been finding their way back into my ‘soundtrack’ . Rick Beatos’ RUclips channel has really been great for analyzing some of the songs from that era.
sun dancer “I’m an old depressing fuck who thinks they’re better than everyone else because I’m a boomer-hipster.”
Good music exists everywhere all the time. There are bands like this today, but you’re too old, lazy, and technologically inept to find them. Just keel over already, asswipes.
One of the greatest guitar solos ever!
I saw them 9 years earlier, 1979, St. John’s Arena, Columbus, Ohio. My FIRST concert. My parents were angry I “wasted” 6.50 on a ticket. The memory of that concert is priceless so kids-mom and dad are NOT always right!! RIP Brad Delp. Thanks for the memories. ❤️✊🏼
Freaking amazing, such talent. Tom sure knew how to put the act together. Blessed and honored to to listen. Nothing today even comes close. Grateful for the Blessings.
Calling someone “underrated” is not a durogatory term. I’ve lived Brads voice since day 1 when they released their debut album in 1976. But I never see his name mentioned as a top 5 rock singer. I’ve even seen lists that have Jon Bon Jovi on it and no Brad Delp. Such a shame! He’s just as awesome as any rock singer ever!
So glad that somebody filmed this - and posted it up too ❤
BOSTON MY 1ST ROCK CONCERT 1976 I WAS 16 YRS. OLD IT WAS AT THE HARTFORD CIVIC CENTER IN CONNECTICUT TOTALLY AWESOME!!👩🍳👰👩🙏😇😘❤💋😎
This sure brings back alot of memories
For those who wants to learn guitar solos those guys are great teachers ...just buy your guitar ...just pay attention ...just love it and than you can play at home and have fun with unique and eternal sounds like these
thank you so much for posting this! RIP brad. we all miss you very much!
Brad that was great guitar playing and singing. Thank you
I had the whole album - hard to pick the best because they were all so good and so was this one.
This song is the one.
The first time I ever heard More Than A Feeling was in a blinding snowstorm on the way to play at a high school in Hamilton, ON.
Best concerts ever
My first and was with my sis
Stood rocked until lights came on❤❤
tom picked the right guy to sing...no if's and's or but's about it!!!!!
Excellent. Delp was the best rock singer
what talent...Brad and Tom play guitar and keyboards effortlessly Brad had the voice and Tom could build a song like people build a skyscraper and they become as big as one...just love this band...always have..
The 1970s man, the 70s 😢. There will never be another...
This is one of the greatest dual/trading guitar solos of all time, but very underappreciated. It loses a bit in this version with Tom Scholz playing both parts for most of it. What I wouldn't give to have seen the first tour with Barry and Tom trading off!
I saw them in '78 on the 'Don't Look Back Tour', it WAS amazing!
@@michaellamneck2116 tell me about your experience
@@whatever231 The concert was at St. John Arena in Columbus, Ohio, the old Ohio State University basketball arena. Sammy Hagar opened and put on a very solid, entertaining show, focusing a lot on the Montrose songs he had sung on. Boston sounded fantastic, but as I remember, didn't have much stage presence. That has been the case all three times I've seen them, they always sound great, but don't move around much or have a big stage show.
@@michaellamneck2116 oh wow, thanks. You're right, from watching their old performances, but I'd do anything to watch Tom live.
@@whatever231 Yes, Scholz is incredible and doesn't get enough credit for the wizard he is on the organ, in addition to his phenomenal guitar work.
