  • Hey Folks! In this Video I Show You How to Change the Transmission Filter, Gasket and Fluid on a 2007 Ford Expedition with the 5.4l V8 Triton Motor! This Vehicle has a Sealed Transmission...Meaning There is No Dipstick Under the Hood to Check Fluid Levels! This Process Applies to a Wide Array of Vehicles Including F150's, Explorers and More! BONUS!! I Also Show You How to Install an Aftermarket Drain Plug Into Your Transmission Pan to Make Future Fluid Swaps a BREEZE!!

    Great video !
I would install the drain plug on the side (towards the rear) of that lowest part of the pan instead very bottom. I noticed many scrapes and gouges on that bottom part. Having a drain bolt in that place makes it more prone for accidental damage and unwanted transmission fluid leak. Unless you can install a skid plate or something else protecting that protruding bolt.
Easiest way to protect your driveway in a future is to use a heavy duty cardboard, big enough to cover entire work area. Especially when doing oil (trans fluid ) changes, and brake jobs (super messy).
Thanks for posting that video bro !
I have two Expeditions, 2008 and 2010, both with 200k miles. 2008 is leaking trans fluid and is slow on shifting (low fluid), so definitely needs a new filter and some fluid change.
    Good luck brother !

Wouldnt it of been easier if you drilled the whole before unbolting the pan and avoid all that mess

Hey Thanks for Watching! But Please Dont Ever Try That! The Transmission Pan is Very Well Made and Tough it Took a Fair Amount of Force to Push the Drill Bit Thru...to Attempt That While It's Still Bolted to the Transmission?!?! The Risk Of Going to Far in and Damaging the Transmission is Way To High!! I'd Rather Spray Off My Driveway!! Further Had I Not Been Parked on an Incline Itd Have Been Easier. But That's Life! The Fluid Sprayed Right Off No Harm NO Foul! So If Question is Only About the "Mess" Sure I Can See the Benefit...But is it Worth the Risk? Heck No lol!! Plus Last Thought...What If You Strip One of the Bolts..or Its Seized in Place..or the Ones Above the exhaust are too Hard to Get Too and You Cant Get them Out? Now you have a Hole in a Tranny Pan that You cant plug, cant refill with fluid and your vehicle is inoperable! I always had the option of reinstalling the bolts I removed and filling back up with fluid!!

I don't recall two gallons of fluid coming out. Did it really take all of it?!

Yeppers!! Needs enough to fill the pan, the new filter and any residual that came out of the transmission case during draining!

Who works on their car in their bare feet, and drains the fluid on the concrete?

Hey Thanks for Watching!! Nothing worse than scuffing up a nice set of boots!! As mentioned in the video, I live on a hill, misjudged the angle on the driveway where I had parked, should have pulled into the garage but lighting isn't as good for filming!! Way it goes!! Reason we make this channel as mentioned in our "About us" we make real videos! Equipped with all the mishaps, as opposed to "editing" only the good, you get the bad so you learn from our mess ups!! If the worst that happens is some fluid spill, as opposed to a seized, stripped or impossible to get to Bolt...I'll Take that!! Plus nice excuse to dust off the Power Washer, got the Driveway and House cleaned same Day!
