      @cheddarbeansoup Год назад +65

      @@miker03431 the whole system needs to be rearranged because; would more money make you actually willing to risk your life "more"? I don't think so. The proper training, more money, and a secure selection process to really sort out who's made to work for law enforcement and who doesn't. 6 to 8 months training and work in the streets won't make you capable of being "a hero". The ability to put yourself second, does. And that needs mental training, something that can't occur in the short timespan police officers train for.
      Throw them money to work the system to something better, then raise their wages.

      I see a total lack of training. Probably due to poor funding. These aren't trained gunfighters and they aren't paid killers. Aggression of action tactics aren't for everyone. Including you. Fund your local department today!

    • @Churdington
      @Churdington Год назад +58

      @@WvlfDarkfire That is kindof ironic, isn't it? People are upset that police aren't exceptional individuals, and that they have done some terrible things. But then they want to defund the police.
      If you start paying police the salary of a McDonalds employee, then that's the quality of worker you're going to get.
      Defund the police and you get worse police officers.
      If we were to raise officer's salaries, then the jobs could be more competitive. They wouldn't have to hire whoever applies, they could actually be very selective about it. If the salary is extremely high, then people will view it as a prestigious job that is worth spending many years in school for.
      When you think about a high-end job, police doesn't come to mind. Lawyer, doctor, and others do. Imagine if highly intelligent people thought about becoming a police officer instead of a lawyer. The only reason they don't is because police officer is a low paying job and not considered to be a prestigious one.

I didn’t see one ounce of training procedures utilized. Zero buddy maneuvers and breaching or clearing. That’s why your partner is watching your six. You had enough people there to cover you clockwise. Yes there is a danger to yourself, but you signed up understanding the risks and the type of path you were choosing. Especially hearing how the safe locks on these doors were abysmal or non existent. Do not call out promoting help when all you did was stand there while you gave up their position if you weren’t going to take action. Fortunately not all departments are this inept. Many could use quite a bit more training and morality, but I know a few departments that would absolutely gone in and terminated that threat. A lot of this has to do with having seasoned officers used to being leaders. They step up, and make calls that their superiors have taught them. It is clear here that none of these officers was willing to be brave enough step up to serve and protect. All of them should be fired.

Had the shooter gone in that room first and shot that child, he would have bled inside for a good 30 minutes and police stood outside sanitizing their hands trying to be hygienic. Most of the times we are told what buildings to hit and shoot the bad guys when they are identified. I have cleared apartments with multiple teams and waste no time in doing it. You do not stand around while an active shooter is killing within a school. First arriving LEO’s, set and go. Leadership failed in this horrible incident. I’m a retired cop, 30 years of service…we had a plan formulated just after Columbine by our Sheriff and his staff in conjunction with the school board. When a call went out, we rolled and deployed in full gear. One major obstacle is obtaining the key(s) to get through doors. It was understood by policy that the first responding units will go in to neutralize the threat immediately.

      @@arshenio45 It makes absolutely no difference if there is only one entrance into a classroom. You’re trying to come up with excuses where there are none. The columbine doctrine has long been established & every department in this country MUST follow it. In an active school shooting, officers must IMMEDIATELY get into the building & stop the killing by finding the shooter. If there is only one officer on scene he is OBLIGATED to IMMEDIATELY go in & FIND the shooter. There are no exceptions. There is no waiting for shields, bigger guns, flashbangs, keys (to an unlocked door), or even back up. The policy on this is very, very clear & every single department & officer knows what is expected of them. Over 22 agencies & 367 officers on scene did not do their duty that day.

      They can’t be charged with not taking down the shooter but they should all somehow be charged with holding a parking lot full of parents (some armed) back while they did nothing. The Supreme Court has already ruled saying officers have no legal obligation to put themselves in harms way to save anyone else but failing to act and physically stopping parents from acting are 2 different things they not only didn’t act they stopped parents from saving their children. One of the officers in this video was the husband of the teacher that got killed and his department stopped him from going in to save his wife as she texts him saying she’s shot/dying. There’s no chance that I’d allow anyone to disarm me or hold me back while my wife and her child students get murdered. That officer weighed out his priorities and chose his job over the life of his wife he wouldn’t have got in any legal trouble for trying to get into that classroom to take out the shooter but he would possibly get fired for disobeying their orders so he decided that losing his wife was more of an acceptable loss than losing his job.

But yeah that bodycam 1 guy was panicking wayyyy too hard to the point where it was comical, cursing and freaking out from the start to calling his wife or something thinking he's gonna die, even when he checks a room his voice is so soft and scared to announce itself, it sounded like a scared little boy calling out into the darkness afraid of monsters. This is just mind blowing to me. I’m from the uk, we seem to be learning more lessons over here than the police and schools in the US. If I’m not wrong our last school shooting was back 1996. Dunblaine in Scotland. Many 5 years olds were killed along with their teachers. Since then our schools have stepped up their security. The schools themselves have 12 ft fences all around the perimeter and the car parks.. parents park out on the road and walk their children into school. The parents are only allowed to wait in one area, the parents aren’t permitted into the school accept through the front entrance where your not allowed to go passed a certain door without I.d. I’ve had kids in that school for 13 years and I still have to go through security. I don’t understand how these people get into the place in the first place.. they seem to just walk straight upto the doors and shoot them out and whala their in. No fences. No way to hold them back at all. We also now sadly have threat drills. Is it the cost of locking down a school properly.. it is because high fences and cameras and intercoms and alarms would cost money. And it looks like a prison.. true.. but I never wonder if my kids are coming home. I’m not going into hun laws because I don’t know enough about it all. Suffice to say.. guns aren’t a common thing here, our police don’t even generally have them. We do get isolated knife crimes more but not often.

    It's awful watching this, seeing these cops stand in that hallway and do nothing while children are still in that classroom, surrounded by bodies and getting executed the moment they make a sound. They remained like that for over an hour.

      the US is an example to the world when comes to how to deal with emergencies like mass shootings, they even train other countries. this isn't about "institutions" this is just a small group of people that didn't know how to properly respond to this type of incidents or didn't have proper training.
