Something like 'Merlin' (tv series) terribly over hyped, went down the proverbial tube after a handful of episodes...Now, "they" condense it into a "A girl and her younger brother unwittingly stumble upon the house of an evil witch in the dark woods." - 1hr 27 mins recipe for dummies! "LOL! "Why wouldn't you escort them to where they need to go!!" Love the frustrations sounded by AJ and the guys! "Really!! I mean it's such a stoopid moment in the film!! Keep up the excellent observations guys!

When I read the title Gretel and Hansel, I already knew what was going on in the movie. You can just smell these things coming. haha I did like the Evil Dead remake which had a leading woman instead of Ash, but that was before the whole "woke" feminism train left the station. The original Evil Dead is the best though because Bruce Campbell and Sam Raimi are gods.

I think they should make the real Hansel and Gretel story, that the Grim brothers took from a real life event and changed, which was two siblings who murdered a lone woman by shoving her in her oven because they were competing bakers.
But hadn’t the woman killed the kids parents and fed them to the kids in stuff she cooked? Or am I mixing it up with another story? I think the old woman killed the parents and fed them to the kids and they found out and killed her and fed her to the town in baked goods selling them and making money to survive.
@@B-Dad I can’t tell you who had researched the version of “true origin” I learned, because it’s years ago, but in that she was innocent and the “kids” were adults, I’m sure other events might have inspired the story, we’ll probably never know for sure, cannibals does sound a little far fetched though, but a good horror version.

I’ve read thousands of dark stories so I’m not surprised I got it confused with that. And it wasn’t about cannibalism it was magic. Blood magic. It made the food irresistible somehow. The kids use the witches spell and body to do it once…but by the end it’s apparent they might have to continue to do it.
There was a Hanzel and Gretel film not that long ago and it wasn't even that bad.

The visuals are very well done, the story sounds uninspired. One thing i never do is go to Q&a with directors anymore, it's always a bit disappointing: you think they had some kind of vision behind their choices,.most of the times it's just " i dunno, it sounded cool" or " the studio insisted we put it in there "
