I enjoyed Casino Royale a lot, then came that completely forgetful Quantum of Solace. A slight return to form in Skyfall, then Spectre was pure shit and I didn't even bother to watch the last one.
Totally agree about films written by children, made for children. And the devolution of masculinity. All of these stories encourage anti heroes, lack of responsibility or accountability and ridicule real and true protagonists. It's all so disposable. As it relates to Bond, if all they want to do is deconstruct the character further, Cavill won't be the next Bond and that's a shame. Because I thinks it's time Bond went back to form. Cavill in The Man from U.N.C.L.E. was a throwback Bond for me and he could do some amazing action too.
The Hollywood way is to keep putting out sequels until the franchise collapses. Bond took everything Hollywood threw at it for 25 years and when they couldn't bankrupt the franchise they had no recourse but to kill off the character.

Craig is a really overrated Bond. He’s great in Casino Royale, however since Skyfall, he’s been phoning it in. The man seemed half asleep in most of his scenes in Skyfall, Spectre and NTTD. Also speaking of Skyfall…😩 This movie might have one of the worst action movie protagonists in modern film. He literally fails at almost all of his tasks. He fails his mission in the beginning, he fails at saving M. He can’t even pass his training tests and yet he gets sent on a super dangerous high stakes mission…What the Actual Frick movie? And this results in one of the most mean spirited deaths in any movie. The death of Severine. And Craig’s Bond shows next to no remorse for his failures. Skyfall is an exceptionally overrated film. The plot is messy, as mentioned (the main character sucks),the main theme “the old ways are better” is run over by its own by its own script and ineffective protagonists. And Severine’s death scene is really mean spirited. Imagine if that was Brosnan, Connary or Dalton. Better yet look at Ethan Hunt in the later Mission Impossible films. He’s an action hero. If he promised to save someone like Severine, he would of stopped at nothing to ensure it. And if he couldn’t it would haunt him. Additionally, the other Bond Actors and Tom Cruise actually gave a shit about the characters they portray. Craig seemed so fricking board from Skyfall onwards.
one thing i've seen from different comment sections on youtube, is whichever youtuber voices an opinion, the subscribers are likely to have the same. if drinker said he liked skyfall, his audience would have shared the same thoughts. my takeaway is this: skyfall's ratings change depending on who agrees with who. you look at the left, and it goes full circle; just that it's oppositism. i think skyfall is an objectively good film, and that drinker's opinions on modern films is skewed not just because of their writings, but also because he prefers 20th century movies.
I'm pretty sure the nanobot thing in No Time To Die was originally supposed to be a programmable virus, but they didn't dare to run with that idea because of the pandemic. I mean: the entire island facility with breeding pools of sorts? That's definitely not how you create nanobots, but it could be a way to cultivate a virus. I think the nanobot thing is a result of reshoots and they didn't bother fixing every little thing that didn't work anymore, they just fixed the big things.
As to Mauler's thinking about 'fan appreciation, but not using it wrong', the sequence in Mario Odyssey where Pauline puts on the celebration is a strong contender, to me. It works really well for celebrating the series, and it deserves its place in the game specifically because it is a celebration of the series, and it put Pauline into the game to foreshadow the setting of the celebration. It's fairly clear the work was put into the sequence to actually make it a fantastic payoff.

1:29:36 I suggest anyone who is curious about this "Gender-swapping," of Pinhead to go and watch the Midnight's Edge video regarding this very thing before you say something on Social Media about it that you'll regret. The basics: Pinhead was supposedly androgynous in the book that the film series is based on, more female-like than male. When you see who has been cast, it makes so much sense and for once, seems like an appropriate bit of casting. It may be the one and only time where this sort of thing is okay. For me, it is, anyway.
Except that the 'Pinhead' in the Novella was just as androgynous as the rest of them (other than the light voice, which btw was shifted into the movies female Cenobite version) is called 'it' the whole time and at this point wasn't the lead Cenobite, one could say it was a different character altogether. That changed for the movie version with the casting of Doug Bradley and the fact that 2 of the costumes made it very hard to speak at all, changing all the dialoge to just two of them. The first Cenobite to speak and with probably the most dialog is actually what we commonly know as 'the Chatterer'. The Pinhead/Hellpriest we know only came about with the movie version and stayed the same in every other adaptation since, for example the comics, the only other thing besides the first movie Clive Barker was involved with. The character changed from one of the least important ones to the focus of the whole franchise. The only distingctively female Cenobite is the fourth in the first meeting (btw the same order they appear in the movie when Kirsty opens the box) which is described almost exclusively through the sex-specific features and therefor the opposite of all other Cenobites. Her whole point is to be defined by her sexuality, in contrast to the rest of them, and represents how that what Frank seeked became perverted to something that strikes disgust and horror into him. How Midnight's Edge took that as a proof that all other Cenobites are female is a mystery to me.. The most important point for me is, in Midnight's Edges words: "what is the point of this alternate telling?" Clive Barker was already involved in the original movie and it is pretty close to the novella for the most part. The biggest deviations where with the Cenobites, specifically 'Pinhead' and the female Cenobite. So I guess I get that part. But what is the point of being closer to the origial versions of characters that take barely any screentime when the rest of the story is already very close to the novella so you have to write a new script to put them in? I doubt we get the disturbing scene with the female Cenobite (if nothing else than for explicite full frontal nudity making a hulu release impossible), the two other Cenobites being already pretty close to the original and being closer to the original 'Pinhead' would also mean putting the character in the background.. lets not kid ourselfs, this is in fact just another progressive remake of a popular franchise to milk nostalgia and media buzz. I doubt there will be more than some token points, just to create a bit of drama and the movie will be overall nothing special, with better effects but in every other regard probably worse than the original movie.. Anything else would be a big surprise and breaking the trend of the last decade.
sharpe is great, im looking at my boxset as i write. films for young men, if nothing new can come out, the old myths and legends would be a good base. beowulf, odysseus, gilgamesh etc etc...

Spectre really was terrible. I couldn’t watch more than thirty minutes (twice). Craig only did one good movie. One. I’m glad he’s gone but i have no hope for the future of James Bond.
Reason why Titanic did so well was because it was a two for one movie, for males it was a disaster story for females it was a love story so it pleased both genders and to be honest that's how all films should be
What if a cross dressing Morgan Freeman got casted for Milla's role in Resident Evil 10? I mean, Gender, Racial, and Age inequality would be adressed. Also, a Fan-service Butt shot would not result in a "woah, double Kukuris" reaction, but "eww!" Now that is proper 4th wall breaking Horror.
It seems to me that the problem with Bond movies is that the owners just DON'T know what to do with the franchise anymore...On one hand, you got the political Left trying to drag the franchise down into the woke gutter, and then you have some small desire to please the fans, and so the owners just can't get a handle what to do, and the woke is winning. You can tell that they are trying hard to pander to the woke crowd while still trying to please fans, and they are just NOT compatible.
Why does Claire look older than Chris and why does she know more Umbrella than Chris does? And why does Leon look like Carlos? And why does Jill not look like Jill? And why do Resident Evil 1 and 2 at the same time when it's 2 and 3 that happen at the same time? And why am I asking all these questions to a movie I have no intentions of watching?
RIP Danial Craig/Bond. He was one one the better Bonds. Sean Connery will always be the real “Bond” to me. They could have easily had a female counter part and kept the same flavor;
Driving instructors in the UK are a massive con job. Only a handful of independents are honest enough to trust, companies like AtoZ for example are just there to stretch out your money for as long as possible.
The greatest Bond movie of them all is From Russia With Love. It is the movie that has Bond as a physical fighting machine but with all the charm of Bond. While it is not entirely like the Book it is the closest thing to Bond from the Books.
Interesting how the fake death of Bond makes for better cinema than the real death of Bond, even with the ridiculous premise of passing Sean Connery as even sort of Japanese.

Banshee is one of the best TV Series ever. Pushes things enough but does not jump the shark. Was sad to see it end after 4 seasons, but was actually the perfect timing. You pick up so much on subsequent re-watches and it really is still enjoyable through and through
Dune has been out for weeks here now. I loved it and know no one who has seen it and doesn't. This WILL be a great success! The acting alone is to good to not like the movie.
Pinhead is described as having a high pitched, girlish voice in the written work, and all the Cenobites are supposedly androgynous. This goes against the movies, but there is a precedent for it.
We live in a lost age. Almost everything we produce today will be forgotten and mocked in the future.

cant wait to hear drinker's review of the new ghostbusters
Chris Gore is a great guest to have on. Loved his film courage videos.
"Please don't gender-swap back to the future. Think about it..." lol
knowing Hollywood, they'd make it a lesbian moment and only gender-swap Marty for Marta or something.
Until Gore pulls a Snyder on them.
My name is Drinker, Critical Drinker (Bond music starts to play)
The most important point for me is, in Midnight's Edges words: "what is the point of this alternate telling?"
Clive Barker was already involved in the original movie and it is pretty close to the novella for the most part.
You'll never see this but Mr Inbetween has some of the best dialogue you'll come across, Mauler ❤
Mauler not having seen Sharpe? That's not soldiering!
Damn Welsman Mauler just taps the mountains, you Scots still need to brew it LOL
Gary on Timcast, on my birthday! Fricking awesome!
Now I want a martini :D Nice tux sir!
Daniel Craig's entire tenure as James Bond in a nutshell: "A miserable, old @$$hole, who doesn't want to be Bond."
You nailed it, Drinker. Cheers!
Just watching now still so good team
Is the Longman the only punctual one of the bunch?
Loved Casino Royale, and hated each subsequent film. Even double-o home alone (Skyfall).
The Sonic movie listened to the fans and it was better for it. How have more studios not taken the cue from that situation?
Release the original Sonic cut!
I still stand by the theory that they already had the redesign.
But they gave us the nightmare trailer to drum up free publicity.
Casino Royale and Skyfall were definitely the best of the bunch with Craig.
It's amazing hearing about all the rona restrictions from just 2 years ago! Frightening really!
sharpe is great, im looking at my boxset as i write. films for young men, if nothing new can come out, the old myths and legends would be a good base. beowulf, odysseus, gilgamesh etc etc...
Gore talking about mandates and vaccines almost immediately cracked me up so much. Such an American thing. This show honestly has best assembly of media critics today.
Three kings with George Clooney was literally advertised as a remake of Kelly's Heroes FYI.
It's not a bad film and you can see the similarities, but it is no Kelly's Heroes.
That Star Wars Girl has a great review that explains a lot of what you guys are discussing. Written towards a female perspective. Like a dark Hallmark Channel movie.
TSWG does not have an intelligent female bone in her body, called her out on many streams for her lack of basic entertainment knowledge & BS. You're another one conned by confidence-tricksters, do you wonder why they all know each other? In my job, they would be arrested, thank god for RUclips hassling these con wankers
@@66Misspixie In your job they would be arrested? I didn't realize the police were so tough on fortune tellers, since you know so much about me from one comment. Stay angry, sweetie!
@@KelliRocks need pics of all three of you to settle this
Y’all should come to Florida. I wore a mask for like 2 weeks when it all started lol.
Cheers drinkers !
Those that forget the past have no future.
Quite right
Spectre really was terrible. I couldn’t watch more than thirty minutes (twice). Craig only did one good movie. One. I’m glad he’s gone but i have no hope for the future of James Bond.
Agree 1000s %
Reason why Titanic did so well was because it was a two for one movie, for males it was a disaster story for females it was a love story so it pleased both genders and to be honest that's how all films should be
Missed it 😐 Any chance of leaving the stream up after?
What if a cross dressing Morgan Freeman got casted for Milla's role in Resident Evil 10? I mean, Gender, Racial, and Age inequality would be adressed. Also, a Fan-service Butt shot would not result in a "woah, double Kukuris" reaction, but "eww!" Now that is proper 4th wall breaking Horror.
Can't believe people never saw Sharpe. Shame ! :) Fantastic series.
More of this Drinker. Love the Open Bars. Brilliant guests.
I still haven't watched spectre either. Liked Skyfall but heard such negativity about Spectre that I couldn't be arsed
Did Chris really do an ad read on Drinker's steam?? (Around 20:00)
RIP Danial Craig/Bond. He was one one the better Bonds. Sean Connery will always be the real “Bond” to me. They could have easily had a female counter part and kept the same flavor;
MY FIRST EVER JAMES BOND MOVIE I SEEN IT WHEN I WAS WEE IS THE MAN WITH THE GOLDEN GUN
I'd love to see your thoughts on the movie Gran Torino.
It is available in this channel. Check it out.
Already done 👍
Might be on his extra shots
Million $ Baby. If you want an Eastwood drama. At the end you will be torn between: (Did he just care too much, or was he just an asshole?)
Any chance Adrian Curry would join your show to tell her ComiCon story?
People can hate ite it but the crieg era reminds me of why I loved goldeneye
RUclips ads are getting insane. Many vids lately have more ad time than content.
Adblock is your friend.
Damn!! Drinker looks Bond-hot in that suit! 😋😋😋😋
2 years pssed and it didn't get old a bit - things only worsened...
Driving instructors in the UK are a massive con job. Only a handful of independents are honest enough to trust, companies like AtoZ for example are just there to stretch out your money for as long as possible.
SKYFALL IS MY 2ND FAVOURITE BOND FILM WHEN THE FIRST IS YOU ONLY LIVE TWICE
The greatest Bond movie of them all is From Russia With Love. It is the movie that has Bond as a physical fighting machine but with all the charm of Bond.
While it is not entirely like the Book it is the closest thing to Bond from the Books.
You only live twice and from Russia with love are both top 5 for me
Interesting how the fake death of Bond makes for better cinema than the real death of Bond, even with the ridiculous premise of passing Sean Connery as even sort of Japanese.
Would love a Drinker and Itsagundam stream
How has it been 2 years already...
I just googled "adrianne curry comic con".....my god..
She's a dime. Great personality, too. She's a bit insane, but in a fun way.
which banshee tv show was gary talking about ?
No Tyrion in house of dragons either!
It cannot be overstated how awesome that little guy is and how integral he was to the success of thrones....
Change
My
Mind
@Jorj oh, I understand that, im piggybacking on gary listing all the things the new show doesn't have
I wish Chris would shut up and let the interesting people talk about James Bond
Literally on a stream with 4 legends and hes been talking for ten min. I'm about to turn it off. Who is this loser ? Drinker and mauler are god teir youtubers and Gary's about to guest on TIMCAST. who is this dude? Hush
Drinker- Can you review some Scorsese? Like Taxi Driver or Goodfellas
I always thought maulers picture was a gas mask
It is.
They are all Spookyween’d right now, same with Rag’s icon
I guess I'm stupid. Although I was watching on my pc. Normally I'm on my phone
Dave Chappelle stole jokes from Owen Benjamin. He's not edgy. He's a thief.
Don't know if the guy is even remotely interested but high boi should really join the ranks of these fellas.
Lmao. 2020 experimental injections are the entire plot of the bond movie.
Banshee is one of the best TV Series ever. Pushes things enough but does not jump the shark. Was sad to see it end after 4 seasons, but was actually the perfect timing. You pick up so much on subsequent re-watches and it really is still enjoyable through and through
We can't do stories about King Arthur anymore, the fans will come around. Those stories just don't work for today's audience.
Dune has been out for weeks here now. I loved it and know no one who has seen it and doesn't. This WILL be a great success! The acting alone is to good to not like the movie.
Do you think I could get hired to be an "Insensitivity Reader"
To be fair, in the original story that the Hellraiser franchise is based on, Pinhead is female.
Pinhead is described as having a high pitched, girlish voice in the written work, and all the Cenobites are supposedly androgynous. This goes against the movies, but there is a precedent for it.
